Plot summary
An offer of alliance
On Lanz Carpo, Han Solo is brought before Boss Carpo, who is frustrated by Han's "14 conflicting stories." Boss Carpo contacts Dar Champion and threatens to kill Han, stating that he is outside of Dar's jurisdiction. In a bold move, Leia grabs the comms device and reveals their mission: they were trying to frame Carpo by sending fake transmissions to the Rebellion, intending for the Empire to intercept them.
Rather than being angry, Boss Carpo tells Leia that his own people have intercepted transmissions from the regional Imperial Governor, who is planning a covert military operation to eliminate him. He offers to spare Han's life in exchange for one "small favor": destroy the Imperial Governor before he can destroy Boss Carpo. Dar calls it a suicide mission, but Leia accepts, devising a plan to forge a manifest and board the Governor's vessel as traders. Han calls Chewbacca to get an update on his mission, not knowing he's in a battle with stormtroopers on K43.
A desperate battle
On the volcanic planet of K43, Darth Vader uses the Force to manipulate the sentient rock creatures, who are now under his control. He orders them to attack one of his officers. Suddenly, Chewbacca appears and flees with C-3PO, having only managed to deactivate about half of the detonators they planted.
Luke receives a call from C-3PO on Sergia, who explains the situation: the planet is inhabited by sentient rock creatures who will be wiped out if the detonators go off. He says that Han is on his way to help, but that he is bringing more Imperials with him. C-3PO explains they have a chance to kill Vader with the detonators. Suddenly, Vader senses Luke's presence and orders his troops not to kill the droid and Wookiee.
Back on Sergia, Luke catches up to Warba, demanding his lightsaber back. She tells him he should have taken better care of it. Luke commandeers a stormtrooper's speeder bike and, using it as a distraction, destroys an Imperial shuttle before escaping with stormtroopers on his tail. Warba, reluctantly returns his lightsaber.
