Tempest Runner

    • Sadly not, we had to revert additions from the Queen's Hope novel because it was not yet released in the US, since the spoiler policy indicates we have to wait for the US release. I don't really like it but sadly nothing I can do Lewisr (talk) 02:38, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

  • Sorry! I should've added my reasoning. Luke mentions in the issue feeling something big happening with the Force, specifically something to do with the Dark side, that makes the Force hard to use. I thought this was a clear reference to the activation of the Fermata Cage in Hidden Empire 1 (the descriptions are very consistent) thus putting the events of SW#29 after it. I really don't think he should be considered an actual member, he was more forced into 'fighting' against what he actually wanted, regardless of what Binnot might say Lewisr (talk) 21:18, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

  • I think that just because deep down inside ended up not truly wanting it doesn't mean that he didn't join with the Path and wasn't cemented as a member by Binnot. And what he expresses in that moment is only that he didn't want to have to fight and kill, not that he didn't want to be part of the Path. I think he very willingly becomes a part of the Path considering the way he joins up with Binnot and the Mother after breaking out, but is scared of and hates the idea of fighting and killing. He even thinks later that he wants a leadership role in the Path and had been willing to fight for them to get it. He also clearly goes along with the orders given by the other Path members until Binnot tells him to kill the kid. This + Binnot's undeniable initiation on that page makes him a member, whether he truly wants to be or not, and it's a very significant part of his character that he was.     • I don't dispute that he works with them, but there's a difference between working with them and actually being a member, which he doesn't seem to actually see himself as. He even flatout says he was not a member in Convergence, and he was directly communicating with the Mother and following her orders in that, so him following some orders given in Cataclysm really doesn't mean that much Lewisr (talk) 23:40, 17 April 2023 (UTC)
      • I only mentioned him working with them before as more evidence that he was internally willingly with them, but that was not my point. The point is that he is undeniably inducted into the Path and doesn't reject it, certainly not externally, but also not internally, only not wanting to fight and kill. And then **after being inducted** he goes along with the Path and Binnot and follows orders for a time before then eventually turning on Binnot. For that time he is objectively a member of the Path because of his actions and initiation, but even internally acknowledges that he is following them, and wishes he could lead them at a higher level in the Path, a rank he is even willing to earn by fighting for the Path. Chronicles of the Jedi updates

Hey there, the updates you've done to the pages regarding Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi are not entirely complete, per the examples on Zeitooine and Yarael Poof you need to include a timeframe for when the IU book was wrote, not sure if you missed that on the review pages so thought I'd say here Lewisr (talk) 04:16, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

  • The issue I was having with that is that the book seems to have not been written at one time, as the introduction says that it has only been a year since the Great Hyperspace Disaster, while the end says that Cogra's writing it weeks after the fall of Starlight Beacon. Do you suggest I put the date it was finished, like the articles you mentioned, or should I put the range of time when it was written? Panther436 (talk) 04:26, 4 June 2023 (UTC)
    • I believe it says it was just over a year, which can somewhat still be accurate allowing for it being IU. I'd suggest going with what the others have, and we wouldn't be able to confirm what parts were wrote at what point if it was wrote over different points of time anyway Lewisr (talk) 04:41, 4 June 2023 (UTC)

THR Character Encyclopedia

Hey panther, as Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia is out in the UK as of now I can inform you that a few of your status articles will need updating. I'll be able to give you more info on the specifics over the weekend likely but for now I'll leave a couple with you. The book does confirm Lonto are a species so citing to the tweet will no longer be necessary. Also it gives heights for Dal Azim (1.56m 5ft 6in), Susalee (1.85m 6ft 1in), Elris Florent (1.73m 5ft 8in). I also noticed while looking at Dal's page that it has several uses of slaver/slave, which if you wouldn't mind updating those instances to enslaver/enslaved etc I'd appreciate, thanks Lewisr (talk) 01:50, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

  • Here's the info, I'll start off by noting that Vildar Mac is a Jedi Master per the book so that will need updating and the cite changed.
  • Regarding Elris, the symbol she wears represents the will of the Force. It's noted she listens for the will of the Force through meditiation. The books also states that members of the Disciples of the Whills do not shun the dark side as a result of this meditation and believe it and the light side must always remain in balance. She works closely with the Guardian of the Whills. When the Yacombe applied she remained calm and open to hearing their side. You'll also need to add the ft/in for her height, and the Cavan tweet replaced with the encyclopedia regarding the Lonto species.
  • The Lonto are described as worshipping the light side, and that they are light-side Force users with a special connection nature which they are proud of. And through a mystical power they use vines/plants/leaves to heal others.
  • For Susalee, adding the info as described for Lonto, and that through her Force powers she uses her vines/leaves as weapons/healing aids. It's noted that she loses control when affected by the presence of the Nameless. You'll be able to remove the Path of Vengeance and Quest for Planet X cites and swapped for the encyclopedia. The book also dates the events of THR 1 specifically to 382 BBY so when you say 'around that time' should be changed 'that year' or something simialr to reflect it is the same year.     • The EduCorps does, technically, have a quota. We don't really hold to it stringently, but it's mainly there incase someone leaves the Wook indefinitely without notice. The tag can stay for however long you're away, and the quota doesn't apply while it's on there. Just to let the boards know you're away for a time.
    • Upon admission, you've the right to join the #educorps channel in the Wookieepedia Discord server if you wish. Often, the topics discussed there include future memberships and status article rule tweaks (before they later get taken to vote). Not a requirement, and several members aren't in it; but, you're entitled to the EC role if you ever did choose to stop by.
    • If you'd like to join us, let me know! We're really impressed with your work across all three status article nomination pages, and hope to see you go further up the ladder in the future as well.

Slight updates for Roland Quarry

Hi, There's a slight few additions to be added to the above article, thought to stop by as we'd noticed it was yours. Lew and I were looking over it while SA-sweeping and briefly noticed a few things:

  • There's this bit from The Rising Storm (chap. 24)—"I told you Elzar and I go back a long way. We had different Masters, but we were taught in many of the same ways, especially when it comes to looking after our equipment."—which would require this to be mentioned ever so briefly about the similar equipment, as it applies to Quarry and Stellan's Master, Kant.
  • It'd be great if TRS's BBY date could be slid in for the Yorrick events, and if possible The Fallen Star's one as well (due to a general shift of each source having its corresponding date noted in SA precedent).
  • More of a suggestion than a formal, but it may be worth noting that Mann eventually ascended to the rank of Jedi Knight after finishing his Padawanship, then later became a Jedi Master—as somewhat of a bridge. To be kept vague of course, but mainly to make it clearer that the 'many years later' events with Yorrick occurred when he was no longer Quarry's pupil.
  • Wasn't aware of this until another board member pointed it out to me, but we're apparently shifting to including the IU chapter number for when someone is mentioned in Chronicles of the Jedi as a new precedent.
  • We also realize that this may very well end up shoving it over and we apologize for that, really no rush.—spookywillowwtalk 01:35, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

Heya, just dropping by a quick note to say that a GA of yours—Lonto—has landed in the boards' maintenance bin with an update tag, very recently. Plenty of time left on it just figured I'd drop a message by just in case it wasn't seen. Also wanted to thank you for saving some of the articles up for review—so many of them don't make it out of the process, is quite sad, but the help's much appreciated. Is the Path of the Closed Fist a "subgroup" of the Path of the Open Hand?

In your edit you reverted my removal of the wording "subgroup" saying "Don't know why the subgroup was removed". Per Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia "Discovering the truth about the Mother leads to the end of the Path of the Open Hand, though the influence of the cult continues even after it disolves. True believer Mardo Ro transforms it into the Path of the Closed Fist, which in turn inspires the formation of the Nihil." and in The High Republic: Path of Vengeance we have Marda saying: "The Jedi have come looking for the Path of the Open Hand. But they are too late. That dream has broken. That dream has failed. [her speech continues] Who walks the path with me? Who walks the Path of the Closed Fist?" and Elecia Zeveron: "I am the Mother. The Mother of Open Hand" Marda: "We're not the Open Hand anymore." These quotes certainly make it seem like the organization was transformed and the Closed Fist is not a subgroup, but a new grouped formed from the Open Hand. In addition, a I quickly skim of Path of Vengeance after Marda transforms it into the closed fist and did not find any mentions of "Path of the Open Hand" or "Open Hand" (of course beside the mention above where Marda refutes the idea.)   • I see that, and if there was a section for like "descendants" or "sects" or "splinter groups" I would want it to be there instead but I think sub-groups works fine, plus it definitely needs to be there for its significance. I think it also works because the Path still exists while it does, as in Cataclysm many Path members leave Dalna and don't become part of the Closed Fist, and in "A Closed Fist Has No Claws" Marda reveals that there were many Path members out there who had never known the Closed Fist. Also Cataclysm states after the battle "as well as new internal information about the Path of the Open Hand (and the Closed Fist, as some of its followers had morphed into)" which I think is pretty clear about it being part of a wider whole. It's basically just the people who follow Marda on Dalna in the Night of Sorrow who become the Path of the Closed Fist and even if they don't want to use the Open Hand name anymore, they are still a sect of the original cult. Defy the Storm dating

Hi, I was told that the 228 BBY date for Defy the Storm comes from you, so just reaching out. As far as I can tell, it's literally impossible for Guardian Protocols to have been established in 229 BBY and the reference book just made an error, since in "All Jedi Walk Their Own Path" it's stated that Starlight Beacon only lasted for "a little over a year" therefore if it's around since 232 BBY, it must have been destroyed early in 230 BBY, and it can't be 229 BBY only one week later. Additionally, Xylan claims that events of Out of the Shadows, which is set in 231 BBY, happened "nearly two years ago", so it can't be set later than 229 BBY. since 228 BBY would be more than 2 years. Just want to hear your thoughts and stuff so that we can reach a consensus on when Defy is set. (especially since we have status articles/noms from the book, and those should 100% have a date we're certain is correct) Thanks! Sanathestarr (talk) 14:10, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

  • I've always been of the opinion that the AJWTOP quote is just wrong because just the Republic Fair itself is a year after the dedication so that just really doesn't mesh. As for the two years thing, I think it's referring to an investigation and Graf takedown after OotS's events and not referring to its events exactly. I do understand what you mean, and that could've been the original intention, but I think we should follow the more explicit dating given to us. Could very well be retconned later but I think it's definitely the correct answer as of right now. And the Encyclopedia is explicit about it being 229 BBY and not c. 229 BBY for the protocols, so I'd be pretty surprised if they don't stick to that in the future.     • Is there anything that specifies the time between Fallen Star and Rising Storm? The way I see it it still works, LotJ and Rising Storm are both set towards the ends of their respective years (e.g. the in-universe equivalent of November) and a Fallen Star is set a few months later (e.g. the in-universe equivalent of February) so it aligns with them being set in their respective years. tbh idk where to go with this, you are right that the Encyclopedia is explicit about the date which is a point for 228 BBY, but I feel like the amount of in-universe stuff suggesting 229 BBY shouldn't be ignored. What do you think about something in-between, like "between 229 BBY-228 BBY" or "c. [one of the two dates]"? Sanathestarr (talk) 20:07, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
      • I was under the impression MtD indicates there's a year between those two, and I know TFS has Nan and Chancey being apart from the Nihil as depicted in OotS for an unspecified several months, but other than that I don't recall. Where the "Starlight was around for one year thing" also falls apart for me is that neither the Republic Fair or the Great Disaster are at the end of their years becuase the Infiltration of the Nihil Tempest takes place months after the Fair and is still in 231 BBY. And therefore the Disaster which is a year before the Fair doesn't either. I'm just not really seeing much specific evidence for 229 that's not like general "Phase III takes place a year after starlight fell" and I'm really not seeing anything that really conflicts with 228 either. And I think for a date note like that you really need a dated event that comes before it and dated even that comes after it which we don't have. I totally get what you mean about it feeling incongruous but I think a lot of the High Republic has little things like that that make it feel that way. And who knows, you might get proven right and it might get retconned eventually, but the info we have right now giving such a specific indication of when the year change is indicates 228 BBY to me.         • Sorry for a delay in responding, was busy yesterday with real life stuff. Hmmm I see what you mean. The infiltration can still happen months later with Rising Storm being set in late 231 BBY though, e.g. Rising Storm happens in not-October and the infiltration happens in not-December. I did also find another reference to OotS in Defy on page 97 where they refer to Sylvestri's visit to Coruscant as having been "the previous year," (obviously people in-universe don't run on ABY-BBY dates, so the way I understand that is that late 231 BBY is equivalent to early in a year in their calendar, and it's been less than two years since) which is also probably something to be considered. Idk, I feel like the date for Defy is unclear enough that it should at least have a "c." in front of it, even if we do keep the 228 BBY date. Sanathestarr (talk) 06:15, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
