- "Malena, on me. Screen the entrance to the structure, keep those TIEs from following our forces inside."
- ―Ribeiro, to Malena
Lieutenant Malena was a pilot in the Rebel Alliance's Yellow Squadron during the Galactic Civil War.[1] In 4 ABY,[3] during the Battle of Endor, Malena was calmly ordered by Captain Ribeiro, the leader of Yellow Squadron[2] who Malena was second-in-command to,[1] to follow her lead. The two then separated from the rest of the starfighter squadron[2] and formed a protective screen over the entrance of the Galactic Empire's Death Star II space station's superstructure to prevent further Imperial TIE fighters from pursuing those inside.[1]
Behind the scenes
Malena was first mentioned in the 2021 reference book Star Wars: Battles that Changed the Galaxy.[1]
