"Heard Lante sing with the band at the tavern last night. Just leapt on the stage, grabbed the mic, and improvised five minutes' worth of gliz."
―Sila Kott's father[1]

Gliz was a type of music.[1] By 2 ABY,[2] Lante, a female native of the planet Toprawa, jumped onstage at a tavern on the planet and performed five minutes of improvised gliz music with a band while using a microphone. The father of fellow Toprawa native Sila Kott witnessed Lante's performance and told Kott about it the next morning, considering it "not half bad."[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, gliz was mentioned in flashbacks in the 2023 short story "The Last Flight," written by Ali Hazelwood and published in the anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi.[1] Gliz originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, first appearing in the 1989 West End Games roleplaying game book Riders of the Maelstrom, written by Ray Winninger.[3]

  2. "The Last Flight" establishes that Lante's performance of gliz takes place before Sila Kott joined the Rebel Alliance. As "The Last Flight" also establishes that Kott was a member of the Alliance for at least two years before the Battle of Endor, which Star Wars: Timelines dates to 4 ABY, the flashback must take place by 2 ABY.
