"This new holiday variation keeps the familiar bantha blue but swaps out the tea for chocolate, addin' a richness that feels perfect for the season."
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[1]

Bantha Milk Hot Chocolate was a variation of Bantha Chai, the signature drink of Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs. Tuggs created the new recipe for the holiday of Life Day, keeping the familiar bantha milk but swapping the tea for chocolate. The result was a bright blue beverage with a light brown chocolate swirl on top.[1]

After Tuggs published his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY,[2] Tuggs included a recipe for Bantha Milk Hot Chocolate in his holiday cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, where he explained the background of creating a Bantha Chai variant and noted that he expected to be drinking much of the hot chocolate during the winter months. He also described the drink as rich and perfect for the holidays due to the addition of chocolate.[1]

Behind the scenes

Bantha Milk Hot Chocolate was introduced in Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook,[1] a recipe book authored by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak with photography by Ted Thomas and published on November 9, 2021. It was first revealed in a StarWars.com preview for the book on July 27 of that year.[3]

The out-of-universe recipe for the drink's cream cheese topping calls for cream cheese, confectioners' sugar, salt, and heavy cream. The milk then requires whole milk, vanilla extract, white chocolate, and blue food gel dye.[1]
