"If you can avoid gettin' all tangled up in a saava's vines, you'll find yourself with a sweet snack that everyone will savor. And if you can't? Well, at least the saava gets to eat…"
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[1]

Saava Snacks were a type of sweet snack food made from the fruit of the saava plant native to the planet Kashyyyk. The saava was a parasitic carnivore, so harvesting its fruit in order to make the snack could be extremely dangerous. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs published a recipe for Saava Snacks in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook, at some point after he published his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[2] Tuggs claimed that everyone would savor the snack and that the fruit was so delectable that it was almost worth the risk of confronting a saava.[1]

Behind the scenes

Saava Snacks were created as a recipe for the 2021 cookbook Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, which was written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The ingredients for the out-of-universe recipe are figs, extra virgin olive oil, salt, black pepper, feta cheese, chopped toasted pecans, and honey.[1]
