The Tree of Life was a tree located on[1] the Mid Rim planet[2] Kashyyyk. It was sacred to the native Wookiee people, who traditionally held their longstanding Life Day celebration around the tree.[1] To represent the original Tree of Life, Wookiee families typically chose an ancient tree, which they adorned with shining Life Day Orbs. Those who were far from Kashyyyk could conduct a simple ritual around an image of a tree or a mere piece of wood.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Tree of Life was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in the Databank feature of StarWars.com.[1] It originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity's The Star Wars Holiday Special,[4] a 1978 television special.[5]
