- "And because I'm a firm believer that what's on our plate should be a reflection of what's in our heart, I found this great recipe on Lothal that uses the spears of the spine tree to honor the season's arboreal aesthetic."
- ―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook
Spine Tree Spears was a vegetarian side dish from[1] the planet[2] Lothal that used the spines of the spine tree native to the world. The Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs discovered the recipe and included it in The Life Day Cookbook, his second cookbook, which he published at some point after publishing his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY.[3] He included the dish in order to reflect the common theme of trees being a central part of midwinter festivals such as Life Day's Tree of Life of and the vecari trees of Solstice Tide.[1]
Behind the scenes
Spine Tree Spines were created as a recipe for the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe uses Romanesco cauliflower florettes, extra-virgin olive oil, lemon zest, minced garlic cloves, salt, and black pepper.[1]
