"Not only does this green salad bring a pop of color to the plate, it's got a fruity dressin' that adds a touch of festive flavor. It's also pretty versatile, workin' equally well as an openin', a side dish, or a post-meal palate cleanser."
―Strono Tuggs, The Life Day Cookbook[1]

Taba Leaf Salad was a type of green salad made using taba plant and a fruity dressing. At some point after publishing his first cookbook[1] in 34 ABY,[2] the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Taba Leaf Salad in his second cookbook, The Life Day Cookbook.[1]

Tuggs included the vegetarian dish in the side dishes section of the book but claimed that its versatility meant that it could be served as a starter or post-meal palate cleanser. The Artiodac liked to serve the dish as a healthier option among the generally overindulgent Life Day festivities and suggested it could even be eaten the day after if one was too full. He also felt that it brought color to a plate and described the dressing as giving the dish a festive feel.[1]

Behind the scenes

Taba Leaf Salad was created as a recipe for the 2021 Star Wars: The Life Day Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the dressing uses drained lychee, a quartered medium shallot, champagne vinegar, Djion mustard, honey, salt, black pepper, and extra virgin olive oil. The recipe for the salad includes baby spinach, drained lychee, cubed avocado, sliced cucumber, blueberries, and sliced red onion.[1]
