Eras Template

Hello could you tell me how to make the canon/legends template on another wiki? User:Dreadlord the Skeleton

  • I'm not really the best person to ask, but basically we have Template:Top at the top of every article. Template:Canontab is then used within that, with canon being the default, and Legends applying if certain parameters are added to Eras. I would look at the editing code within both of those templates to better understand the process. Tommy Imperial Emblem Macaroni 21:21, January 4, 2020 (UTC)

Revan nom

Hey Tommy, I want to get Revan to a nomination but I need to remove the /Canon part. Also, I think nomination rules changed? Is the nomination for the Revan article meant to be for a good article nomination or a comprehensive one? I just want to confirm that before anything. Thank you!--Vitus InfinitusTalk 18:22, January 6, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hey, I've got exams this week so I'm a little busy, but I'll try and get the bot onto that when I get a chance. Would you mind leaving it on WP:BR so I don't forget? And yeah, they have changed (see here), but your article is fine as the body excluding the BTS is basically nothing. Tommy Imperial Emblem Macaroni 18:35, January 6, 2020 (UTC)

Grysk

Hello Administrator you probably aren't going to respond to this but i need to ask you about involving a Thrawn book I have already asked the question on the Talk Page I have created I will add a link here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Talk:Grysk_Hegemony See my question is about something that seems to make the Grysk's very important and not to be ignored and yet there's no mention of it in the article I will need confirmation before i add a section as well as a little help but i do believe this info should go into the Hegemony page and not the species page because for all we know it could just be a style the Hegemony teaches the Grysk's thank you for considering if you read this.

Jedi-List

Hey, I had a question if I am allowed to make an article (a list) and I asked Lewis about it. He said he would be okay if some other admins would be okay with it as well. He also asked me to ask some other admins. So here is my original message: I am interested in a Jedi-list in the wiki. But I know you admins are against lists here because they often become poorly maintained and sourced. But I do know for a fact that I would maintain it well (because that's in my own interest) and would source every single cell in the table. And a list naturally brings some advantages over the category site: canon-legeneds-difference, more details with a quick look and in general better visuals. If you're against this, maybe we could make a Jedi-list on the Jedi-page like it's done with Senators? CanePlayz (talk) 19:00, January 13, 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I would like to have two files renamed:

  1. Rename File:Alvien Squadron.png to something more canon-friendly since I want to add this image to Crag's page.
  1. Rename File:Sudeikis-Beaten-The-Mandalorian.png to something more generalized, as this is Adam Pally's character and not Jason Sudeikis.

Thanks in advance. UberSoldat93 (talk) 12:10, January 19, 2020 (UTC)

Proposed Update

So I have many ideas for updating infoboxes in order to fill in otherwise monotonous information. For example, droids should possibly have a locomotion system section. Perhaps characters should have a significant family members section. I just thought it would be a good idea.--CommanderDeviss327OpenCircleFleetRoundel-LegendsAЧ dAwu I qɹokǝ ɹǝฉ1iʇʎ ฉБa1u 15:09, February 20, 2020 (UTC)

Creating a page

I was attempting to create a page about the DP-23, which is canon now due to Phase I Clone Troopers Upgrade Expansion from Star Wars: Legion, however, it identified my edit as harmful, and gave me this:

This action has been automatically identified as harmful, and therefore disallowed. If you believe your edit was constructive, please inform an administrator of what you were trying to do. A brief description of the abuse rule which your action matched is: VisualEditor infobox derpage

Why is this happening? It told me to talk to an administrator, so I came to you. Thanks,--CommanderDeviss327OpenCircleFleetRoundel-LegendsAЧ dAwu I qɹokǝ ɹǝฉ1iʇʎ ฉБa1u 17:08, February 20, 2020 (UTC)

  • Oh yeah, and it also gave me this: Warning: Your attempt to edit this article with the VisualEditor interface has resulted in mangled code, and thus has been blocked. Please try your edit again with a different editor. Source Editor can be accessed by clicking the menu icon to the left of the Cancel button and selecting Source Editor from that dropdown list.

If you are not using the VisualEditor and have received this error, your edit contains improper formatting that is typical of VisualEditor edits. Fixing these will allow your edit to be saved. Common occurrences include:

Using Crucible instead of the correct Crucible Using extraneous spaces in headers, such as == Appearances == Placing infobox parameters on the same line instead of using linebreaks after each parameter

Warning: All new articles must include categories, and your article submission does not. Please add appropriate categories, and your edit will be permitted. --CommanderDeviss327OpenCircleFleetRoundel-LegendsAЧ dAwu I qɹokǝ ɹǝฉ1iʇʎ ฉБa1u 17:11, February 20, 2020 (UTC)

  • Please read those warnings instead of acting like they are pointless. The edit was not saved because you are likely using visual editor, or your edit has mangled code, and you failed to include categories. Please follow the advice on the warnings. Bot fixes

Hi, Tommy. Does your bot by any chance use AutoWikiBrowser? Or is it something else? I'd love to fix the certain comic titles in ka-wiki the same way you did it recently on the Wookieepedia (''Title'' Number). Of course, I could just compile my own list of replacements, but if I had the setting file, I could translate the values (Find>Replace) and let the software do its job. If it's not an AWB file, any type of list will be absolutely helpful. --Orgus Ordo (talk) 15:24, March 4, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi Orgus, it's a Pywikibot, which I don't think is the same as an AWB, although I'm not too familiar with Wiki bots to be honest. I have the code in user-fixes.py format, which I've put here. Hopefully you can find a use for those. Also bear in mind that does not include Comics within templates like Shortstory, I still have to finish those. Good luck with your project, Tommy Imperial Emblem Macaroni 15:43, March 4, 2020 (UTC)

New possible template

Hello. As of late, I have been having thoughts on whether or not we should create a new template similar to the GAR battalions template for the Grand Army of the Republic's units, but it would be used for the Canon units of the Imperial Army instead, as there are evidently a handful of Imperial Army units. If you don't think it should be created, please explain on my talk page. Erebus(Talk) 17:00, May 17, 2020 (UTC)

  • Sounds like a good idea. I have a list of Imperial Army units on a subpage, although I doubt that's comprehensive. I suggest copy-pasting the GAR version and just changing the necessary links as a good start. Tommy-Macaroni 17:21, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
    • To create a navbox template, or just to create a template in general, do I simply create a new page, give it the title, and add nav_start|Imperial Army battalions/units? Or must I do something else? Erebus(Talk) 19:38, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
      • Yeah, just create a redlink with the name you want, eg Template:Imperial Army units, and just fill that out. Tommy-Macaroni 19:42, May 17, 2020 (UTC)
    • In addition to this new template, I'm possibly going to create at least two more templates, one for the Separatist Droid Army and one for the Legends Imperial Army units, and maybe even one for the Alliance Army units. Erebus(Talk) 03:23, May 18, 2020 (UTC)
      • Hey Erebus, sorry I completely forgot to respond to this. But yeah, those sounds like good ideas, if those groups have enough sub-units to fill out a template with. Tommy-Macaroni 21:50, May 18, 2020 (UTC)
        • Excuse the intrusion, my friend, I will be creating the template for Separatist Droid Army units, but I may end up doing a full template for the Separatist military units, seeing as there may not be enough units within the droid army to hold a template itself, which is why I will include the Confederacy navy units and possibly the Canon Separatist holdouts, as they were once all part of, mainly, the droid army. If you do any objections, I would like to hear them before I do this, and I intend on creating this within the day. CIS roundel Erebus Open frequency 17:42, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
          • No that sounds like a good idea, makes more sense to have a larger, inclusive template than spreading them out over smaller ones. And you're not intruding at all, never hesitate to ask anything, that's what I'm here for. Tommy-Macaroni 17:48, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
          • I am nearly done adding the units and their links to the template, but while looking at it in preview style, it seems like a large jumbled mess of links to me since I was forced into getting creative with headings due to a surprising lack of Canon units. Is there any way you are able to view the template before I create it? CIS roundel Erebus Open frequency 19:24, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
            • If you wanna dump the code into User:Tommy-Macaroni/template I'd be happy to look over it. Tommy-Macaroni 19:34, May 23, 2020 (UTC)
  • Okay cool. This seems fine to me tbh. If you're worried about how wide it is, you can insert <br /> between links to create line breaks. See Template:Inquisitors for an example of how to implement this. Tommy-Macaroni 19:47, May 23, 2020 (UTC)

RE:Warning

I'm sorry. I wasn't attempting to ruin anything on the wiki. I thought those needed to be moved in the moment to be in line with the other comic disambiguation pages. Now I realize I was being an idiot and should've brought it up somewhere else beforehand so that my idea would be shot down before it could damage anything. I probably should've assisted in the cleanup (if that's even what you wanted me to do). I had no malicious intent in attempting to move those pages. In the future, I'll be thinking more before I move the pages. I know this sounds like a cry for you not to block me (which in some regards it is), but I am really sorry for messing something up. I have loved Star Wars since I was 5 years old and saw the Clone Wars for the first time. I would never try to purposely try to hurt a page on this wiki. You have my word. Re: Warning

Hi Tommy. As regards your recent warning, I would like to clear a few things up. Firstly, it is not my intention, nor will it ever be, to disrupt Wookieepedia. I care a lot about this wiki, and all I ever want to do is make it better; I'm not a vandal, nor am I a troll. As for your point about my apparent lack of learning, I can assure you that I have learned a lot in my time nominating articles. I know now that my most recent nom was dead on arrival; I'd had a busy day and I wasn't thinking straight, and I should have been more observant. And I will be in the future. As you mentioned the practice of leaving an article for a while and re-checking it, I have since returned to the article and tweaked it. If you like, you can check it over and tell me what you think of it—I reckon it's a GA in the making, though it's probably still not ready yet. And of course I respect the administration on this wiki. If I didn't, I wouldn't be here. I never set out to waste anyone's time and I take great pride in what I do on Wookieepedia. I'm always striving to do good here and I delight in turning stubs into fully-fledged articles. I'm especially proud of Drolen Antig—I think it's my slickest article yet. And yes, sometimes I screw up. I'm only human. Yours, OtterSurf (talk) 18:39, May 23, 2020 (UTC)

Categories from Galaxy of Adventures images

Hi Tommy-Macaroni,

Just wanted to ask you a question since you are one of the Admins here. I have been creating categories for images from the various Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures episodes. Should I create categories for the individual episodes or should I just place all of the images into Category:Images from Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures? So far, the episode categories are pretty small and usually consist of one image. What's Wookieeedia's policy on this issue? Kind regards. Andykatib 10:41, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hey, so our policies are a bit light on anything category related, but the LG says "In the instance two or more images on Wookieepedia depict the article's subject, a corresponding image category must be created." Therefore, if the GoA image categories only have a single image, it's probable not worth having them; they can probably all go in Category:Images from Star Wars Galaxy of Adventures as you say. Tommy-Macaroni 10:49, May 29, 2020 (UTC)
    • Thanks so much for the advice, Tommy. Will place them into one category. Kind regards. Andykatib 10:54, May 29, 2020 (UTC)

More nav templates

Similarly to the others I made, I'm possibly going to make one for the naval units of the Canon Republic and Imperial Navies, and possibly the Legends ones as well. I already have them all prepared in this workbench with all units split up in different sections. You can take a look at them in my workbench if you want. CIS roundel Erebus Chronus Open frequency 03:35, May 30, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hey, I can do the spacing for you if you want me to, I was initially focused on getting the templates in, then focus on spacing them. CIS roundel Erebus Chronus Open frequency 20:26, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
    • Hey, no problem, please just remember to be carful with formatting when modifying status articles. And don't worry about the spacing, it's not a massive issue, you only really have to worry about that on status articles. And I plan on moving the Imperial Navy one to remove spaces altogether, just because I'm too fussy with the way my status articles look. But good work on the templates themselves, sorry I didn't respond earlier this completely slipped my mind. Tommy-Macaroni 20:34, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
      • Yeah, sorry about that, didn't realize that it would create a sort of difficulty with status articles. But with the templates, I got tired of waiting for you to reply and decided to make them because it was really bothering me that they were not created in the first place. CIS roundel Erebus Chronus Open frequency 20:37, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
        • Yeah no problem, I'm glad you didn't wait, they look great. Be Bold and all that. I'm also working on a bot script to fix the underlines on templates site-wide, so hopefully they'll all get fixed now. Tommy-Macaroni 20:45, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
          • Oh yeah, reminder that there are two redlinks in the {{Separatist military units}} template that could be created to just remove the redlink. CIS roundel Erebus Chronus Open frequency 20:55, June 1, 2020 (UTC)
            • I only created the redlink on the Imperial Navy one so a redlink doesn't appear on any status articles. I don't think any of the CIS fleets are status articles, so someone else can create those. Tommy-Macaroni 21:02, June 1, 2020 (UTC)

Please read the entire thing.

So, I see that you've taken down my featured article nomination. And, while you didn't care enough to do anything for the past weeks other than leave vague complaints on the nomination page, you took the liberty to pull this on me without warning. In addition to that, you made a couple of accusations about me in your removal vote yesterday. Some of which were false information.

"I don't think the nominator has demonstrated the needed commitment to see this nomination through." I would strongly disagree.

"throughout this process have been reluctant to add the necessary detail to this article that has been requested by almost every reviewer." Immediately after the article's expansion was first requested, I took the time to expand it with self-written information. (See also here and here for other examples)

You haven't followed up with me on anything at all, so it's not right for you to make the above statements. Your few statements have been unsupportive and discouraging of my efforts. I don't always have the time to address larger objections. Additionally, I was not aware of the loophole in the rules, that if a single objection was unaddressed in two weeks, regardless of other objections being addressed, the nomination would fail. The rules say that the nomination fails "if objections are not addressed after a period of 2 weeks." So, based on this wording, it was my understanding that the nomination would not be taken down as long as I kept addressing objections, which I have been. Just not two certain ones which I've been unsure about.

At the very least, you could've given me a warning. Especially because this is my first nomination of any kind and I was confident enough to do a big project. I don't mean to be argumentative or blunt, but you are an admin and in my opinion you've been incivil at times. —ComicalNinja [Talk] 22:56, June 3, 2020 (UTC)

  • Yeah, no. You coming on here with your bold, italicised, red-coloured text to condescend me is doing nothing, and, to be blunt, you're just coming across as entitled and whiny. However, you put a message here so I'll respond. First off, I had no obligation to finish off my review. As an Inq, it's my duty to manage and oversee the FAN and current FAs; however, while we do also have a duty to review pages bought to the FAN, I have no specific obligation to review yours. I'll be honest, you immediately renominating the article without first addressing my objections on the GAN made for a bad impression of you, making me less driven to continue my review. Furthermore, I also had no obligation to warn you of the nomination's removal. You act like this is somehow entitled to you but we have no duty to warn people when their noms are going to be taken down, and you being new to the process makes no difference either. Do you know how many new nominators' articles get taken down? Lots. And we have no duty to warn any of them. The rule at the top of the FAN clearly states grounds for removal (this isn't a loophole, the rule is commonly used and in bold, everyone should be aware of it), so we have no reason to spend our time warning people their noms are going to be removed. They have a responsibility to their articles, and we aren't going to act as people's alarm clocks. You say you were confused by the wording, but did you really think it'd be fine to just ignore specific objections indefinitely? Regardless, you could've easily asked anyone to clarify the rule to you, or indeed ask for help with the objections, so don't act like this is my fault. You also say you didn't have time to go through those objections but you had two weeks. If you cannot complete an objection in 2 weeks then it's unfair to leave the nomination up and have users spend their free time reviewing it. That's the point of the 2 week rule.
And okay, I can see you've been working hard on this nomination. Props to you for that. But the article is still lacking in detail. Rex's Legends article is an FA, and this shows the amount of detail needed for TV nominations (obviously your article wouldn't be as big, but the level of detail should be equal). Every detail needs to be fully expanded, but your article is still very vague and lacking specifics. "However, the debate was a diversion to buy time, and at that moment Tano's group of astromechs dropped the hangar lifts which some of the troopers were standing on. This caught the clones by surprise, but they recovered and opened fire on Tano and Rex. The droids kept changing the elevation of the hangar lifts, to disorient them" — This, for example, needs to fully elaborate on every detail, every change in elevation, every action of the clones, how they got out, etc. I know you've made some expansions, but from my perspective, and perhaps I'm misjudging you, you seem to be reluctant to add the necessary, large level of detail to this article.
"You haven't followed up with me on anything at all, so it's not right for you to make the above statements." Actually, I'm afraid I am allowed to make these statements. Like I said, me not continuing my review has nothing to do with this, and as an Inq, it's my responsibility to remove idle nominations from the FAN. Therefore the statements were completely warranted. That's the way the FAN has worked for roughly the last 13 years. As for me being unsupportive and discouraging, if you're referring to your talk page comments, I was simply trying to warn you that this would be a massive, time-consuming nomination that would go on for a while. Some people going onto the FAN don't know what they're getting into, so I was simply trying to warn you about what you were considering undertaking. In response to your civility argument, I ask you where have I been uncivil? On the FAN I gave a warranted complaint that you hadn't completed a GAN objection and that you needed more detail, and gave my honest opinion of the nomination to explain the situation to my fellow Inqs on the removal vote. On the GAN I gave several simple objections and warned you not to deliberately shorten the article. On your talk page I gave you some honest advice on the FAN, which, judging from your reply, you seemed to appreciate at the time. There is a difference between incivility and giving warnings, objections, opinions, advice, and enacting official procedure. None of this is incivility. Nor, as you seem to imply, has any of this been as a personal vendetta against you. Everything I have done has been well within my duties as a member of the Inquisitorius. That is, objecting to issues on your nominations; voting for the removal of your nominations, as dictated by the rule at the top of the FAN; and trying to help you out by giving you advice. So while you come on here crying out against my actions, I'm afraid you are just coming off as entitled.
Regardless, nothing is stopping you from fixing the unaddressed objections, writing the article to a suitable level of detail, and renominating. My previous advice stands, it will be a long and arduous process, but you seem dedicated to it at this point. If you were to ask, I would happily look over the article before nomination to see if it's at the right detail level. I'm genuinely sorry if you feel wronged by what's happened, but I promise that this was not personal, I was simply being honest and doing my job as an Inq. Furthermore, I feel you have to take some responsibility here for not asking for help with interpreting the rules or addressing your outstanding objections, instead of just blaming all of this on me with your above accusations. Tommy-Macaroni 10:58, June 4, 2020 (UTC)
  • Well, I didn't want to come off as entitled, and certainly not condescending, so that's my bad. I was not right to act so offended, especially not having asked for help. What I had meant by "incivility" was the third guideline which says "Belittling contributors by their language skills or word choice." In retrospect, I realize that's not really applicable to this situation, but just to clarify. By the way, for what it's worth, I thought I had addressed all of your objections on the GAN. At the time, I figured you were referring to the expansion of Order 66-related events, which I did right after you posted your objections. If you meant the "Commanders and Crew" section, I was unsure whether to add that since there's only three confirmed members in the 332nd. And yes, I should have said something about it, but I added the section a week or so later anyway. Besides, the section got removed yesterday for "layout guide compliance." So, I don't know what to think about that. Anyway, I hope you don't take this fiasco personally, I was in the wrong. —ComicalNinja [Talk] 13:26, June 4, 2020 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the apology, I appreciate it. I understand where you were coming from with the WP:CIVIL, but yeah, that doesn't really count for article reviewing as it's kinda the point to poke holes in language and word choice. But regardless, I apologise if I came across as belittling. Likewise, that wasn't my intention. And yeah I was referring to the "Commanders and Crew" section. Like you say, I would've been happy to help if you asked but whatever, it's done now. And it appears Shay only relocated that section to under the history, which is preferred with regards to set precedent. But all that aside, I haven't taken this personally at all, in fact I appreciate your honesty and apology. Tommy-Macaroni 15:15, June 4, 2020 (UTC)

Page 442 of Thrawn: Treason states "With command of the Third Fleet in disarray, I've ordered the Harbinger to accompany you" "I have no doubt Captain Pellaeon's presence will be unnecessary to your final victory against this current rebel activity, but he may prove useful to you"

This confirms that Pellaeon and the Harbinger was at Lothal during that time. And since it's been explicitly confirmed that Pellaeon was in orbit and that the Harbinger was present at Lothal during this period. This means the ship must've participated in the battle with Pellaeon aboard.Unsigned comment by 95.202.2.129 (talk • contribs)

Re: Superdadsuper

My sourcing was based upon the image in the article- compare to to Naval Intelligence headquarters. I thought the image of the NIA HQ is the same as File:Imperial Inspectorate HQ.jpg though I could see how the renditions are somewhat different. Do you think they don't bear enough resemblance to say for sure? With all due respect, it seems a bit harsh to threaten blocking after two isolated incidents of not sourcing properly (unintentionally after 2 years). If you believe they are different than that is my error. If you study both images closely you'll see that they both have a similar shape, albeit they are sized differently and are obviously somewhat conflicting images. Mainly its the two fin towers, the imperial badge int he middle with the open courtyard in between two sections that jut out that give them their resemblance that would make me assume without any reason to say they are not the same.

Hey Tommy, I would like to apologize for my failure while trying to upload the image Luca-Brasi-death.png, but I would like to explain why it happened. Do you know why this might be happening? --SeanoTheNerd (talk) 13:01, October 19, 2020 (UTC)

  • Hey, no worries, not your fault. To report the bug, I'd suggest listing it on our local general bug thread, although Fandom's general Special:Contact may be more appropriate as I doubt the local administration can do anything to fix this. In the meantime, it won't be an issue if you upload your image with no description and then add the appropriate sourcing and licensing info immediately after. Please give me a shout if you have any further issues. Tommy-Macaroni 13:11, October 19, 2020 (UTC)

If you're running into issues, I recommend contacting your local fandom supports (not certain what other language wikis' situations are but quite likely to be the same as ours) or directly contact Fandom via zendesk or Community Central. Bot

Hi, I saw you uses your bot to remove the "members" field of the infobox following the last moffrence. I think it was a stupid idea to do it that way, the bot just removed everything without paying attention to the referencing. Now there are thousands of pages with broken referencing, it will take years to fix them all. Hk 47 (talk) 16:20, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Prefacing this with the fact that you're extremely close to getting blocked for a NPA violation with that comment. Me and Tope discussed this at length last night, and we were both completely aware that removing the members fields would create referencing issues. However, we both agreed it would be quicker to remove it all by bot and manually restore the broken ref tags than doing it all by hand. Indeed, our theory was correct, with the bot removing the members field from over 12000 pages, while only around 1500 pages currently have reference errors. It would have taken a lot longer to do it all by hand, rather than restore the ref tags on a handful of articles. These changes needed to be done, and using the bot in this way has saved a considerable amount of time. That figure has already been reduced significantly this afternoon alone, and I reckon it'll be done by the end of this week. So no, it was not stupid to do it this way, in fact we're saving a hell of a lot of time. Nor was I "not paying attention." I always keep an eye on what the bot is doing, and if it was accidentally mucking up pages, I would have terminated the script. So please try to consider the situation before throwing out your demeaning comments next time. Tommy-Macaroni 16:51, 10 November 2020 (UTC)

You have a link to "Dauntless" on your "Other" page. You'll be wanting to update it to Dauntless (Imperial I-class). SilverSunbird (talk) 06:45, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Thanks. It's just a DPL query so you just have to null edit the page to update the cache. Tommy-Macaroni 09:14, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

Members section

Hello. I'm just wondering why did you choose to remove Members section? I think it was great to have all the members of a certain group listed in one place, since certain articles don't have all members listed in a text alone. Is there any particular reasoning for your choice to remove this section? I hope I didn't miss your explanation anywhere else. Take care!Unsigned comment by Blzlmprt (talk • contribs)

  • Hi Blzlmprt. I removed those sections in accordance with a consensus reached at our most recent Mofference (find text and minutes here). In essence, it was decided that it's a problem to have such massive lists in infoboxes, especially with the narrower margins of Wikia skin. You can see a good example of it being abused here; we don't need to list all those members in the infobox, it looks really bad. As it would be too subjective to only apply this to some pages or limit the members field to a maximum number, we voted 16-0 to remove it entirely. Thing is, we have categories for this very reason. For the Hutt example, Category:Hutts does the exact same thing as the old infobox did, except it's in a dedicated place. This will become even more useful with a future plan to split categories by continuity. Hopefully that answers your question. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Sincerely Apologies

Hi Tommy-Macaroni. I'm X9 The Android. I wanted to write you to tell you that the block you gave me has finally expired and I'm allowed to edit once more here. However, I wanted to tell you that I'm really sorry for what previously happened her with me at the wiki. Trust me, I meant no harm, as I always put deletion templates on those pages written by trolls or correct some grammar/reference mistakes of other users, and when we started using Wayback Machine to archive the links, it was a totally new thing for me, as I was unaware that such action damaged the wiki.

I was blocked last time for not archiving a link to the Tweet in regards to the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian. In other articles, I did archive the links, but when I edited that article, it wasn't my intention to leave the tweet with no links. As the Tweet hadn't been archived by that point, I was planning to return later and put the link there once it had been archived, but I should have not done so, because thatt's what got me blocked. I should have put an Inuse template until then. I know that I've commited many mistakes here, but I don't want to ruin Wookieepedia, I want to make it better, given my status as a Star Wars. Since this pandemic started, FANDOM is one of the few sites I can enjoy when I have free time. And I know that I should have talked about this on Discord, but that service is not available in my computer.

I'm sorry for not having listened to you previously, and that's why I would like to know if we can have a new, fresh start. When the wiki changed its format, my block somewhat changed and I could have returned, but I opted to not do so because I knew I needed to respect my block. I promise to never disobey Wookieepedia's rules ever again and I will check on my previous mistakes to avoid them from now on.

Kind Regards, X9 The Android (talk) 20:33, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Hey X9, thanks for the message. I'm glad you've seen how your actions were damaging the site and I'm please you're endeavouring to return. You make good edits, it's just these issues with backup links was really bringing you down. Good to hear you're making a fresh start. Tommy-Macaroni 09:22, 3 December 2020 (UTC)

Maulkiller's lightsabers page

Hi Tommy! So I made a page for Maulkiller's lightsabers and I can't get the eras template to legends. Every time I put it as legends it goes to Canon. Can you please put it as legends for the eras template. Also I can't get the website that I want on the page it is the same reference website as the reference in the Maulkiller page. It is the first. So if you can, can you do this stuff please? Thanks, D MCCG (talk) 20:04, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi. So, for me, the page is currently set to Legends. FYI, you really need to look over the Layout Guide and the Manual of Style, as your article is a mess at the moment and breaking many of our policies. In regard to the website, can't you just copy the reference over to this new page? This'll be easier to do on source editor, which can be done via settings if you haven't already. Quick question (need your help with Frog Lady page)

Are the Yinchorri only Turtles or are they also Frogs? The weird "life like" comic art shows them as Frogs in some shots while Turtles in others. I can't think of any species other than them in Legends (otherwise we'll have to wait for the new Writers to identify the Frog Species).

This picture in particular is what's gotten my noggin's hamster wheel turning. I can't tell if this Yinchorri is a frog or a turtle or both (ultimately, the Yinchorri are probably another species since they're way way larger in stature): [1]Unsigned comment by AmadeusBelmont (talk • contribs)

  • I don't really know what you're asking me. Frog lady's species hasn't been identified thus far, so Unidentified frog-like anthropoid is the best we can do. Tommy-Macaroni 10:50, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Got it. The Yinchorri species kind of resemble her, but upon further research, they're more Turtle-like and a lot less Frog-like. I'm assuming it's because it's not confirmed by Disney and is "Old Canon" (aka Legends). Thanks. -Amadeus-Belmont 03:50, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

  • This site does not give credit. Wookieepedia is a community project that works to create the best quality articles. Nobody cares who created those articles; if you're looking for some sort of recognition, this probably isn't the site for you. And as Miki said, the current page was created before yours anyway. Pages

Hey I havn't been around on this wiki for a while so i was just curious why on pages is the known members being removed? like for example the known inquistors on the inqusitors page members section was taken away? it was good info and let you know whos part of them? is it new policy or somthing? just curious is all not complaining or anything.Unsigned comment by Warframelord (talk • contribs)

Sourcing images

Is the archivedate necessary to source an image? How do you even know where to find it? I found a much needed image for a character page that doesn't have an image, Ady Sun'Zee on the Star Wars website as well as some other valid, dependable sources, but I'm missing the archivedate. Andrewh7 (talk) 06:45, 13 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

  • Yes, on WP:S, Rule 11. states "When citing an external link, a permanent archival link (also called a backup link) must be included in the reference. Use archive.today or Internet Archive's Wayback Machine for this purpose." The archive date is the 14 digit number in the Internet Archive URL, eg "20200315030239." If you're using archive.today, you'll need to put the full backup URL in the archiveurl parameter. Tommy-Macaroni 10:45, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

New User

Hi, I'm new. Where should I start? Harpsicorder (talk) 02:12, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi. Well, there's a welcome message on your talk page to give you some pointers on general site practice. Welcome, newcomers also has some info on this. As for where to begin, Wookieepedia:Project Stardust is a site-wide project to improve some of our more major articles. At the moment, stuff from The Mandalorian is being worked on, if that interests you. We also have lists of our most wanted articles to be created, short pages, and pages that need updating. Ultimately though, I'd encourage you to find something you like and see how it can be improved. Be it Star Destroyers, creatures of Hoth, the organisation structure of the New Republic, or anything to do with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, there's plenty to do wherever you go. Starting at a more select area like this will give you a feel for the site and our practices. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Happy editing! Tommy-Macaroni 09:07, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Ok, I'll check Stardust out, and the Welcome page. Thanks! Harpsicorder (talk) 09:24, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

So I made another about the Jedi Academy family. Im trying to make the family tree for them but can't do it right. Can you please help me with this? Thank you, D MCCG (talk) 15:37, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

RE:Fanfiction

I asked another user a while back and they told me that 250 words or less is only for the body of the article, not the infobox, so I don't see why it's a problem. I also can't seem to understand why admins are constantly pushing the fanon wiki on us when it only creates more problems and hassle. All the images, links, pages and etc. are on here not on some fanon wiki and it's a constant hassle to link them, add more images and etc. than to simply link things normally on here. With all due respect, I don't know why admins seem to care so much about how many words and images are on the fanon page. Yes, users need to not only do the fanon and contribute to the wiki, but they can do both and as long as they do, it shouldn't matter how many words are on the page. Andrewh7 (talk) 20:32, 19 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

I know you think the fanon page had to be blank and "removed", but couldn't you have kept it on there for a brief, but reasonable amount of time, like about a week or so and warned me that you would remove it once the time has ended, so I could move them; or maybe even removing everything else except for the first one (the one that's violating any fanfiction rules)? Andrewh7 (talk) 05:37, 20 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7
It's just that it's much easier to move everything when it's actually on the page rather than everything there, and you did warn me that you would block me if I added basically anything back even though I have one that doesn't violate any rules would rather have the one than none at all, that's all. Andrewh7 (talk) 01:34, 21 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7
Thanks for letting me know about the edit thing. I completely forgot about that. Although, the page is still essentially deleted/completely blank and doesn't have the one, the Darth Imperius part. Maybe, it could be restored and as long as it doesn't violate any fanon rules, it could stay and doesn't need to stay blanked.

Are you referring to the Unidentified individuals suggestion? Basically, I was suggesting to make pages for some/a number of unidentified characters that don't have pages. Andrewh7 (talk) 00:48, 22 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

When you were talking about how you didn’t understand the second/last part and I was asking if the part you didn’t understand was the Unidentified individuals suggestion. Which part of it didn’t you understand because I think it was very clear and isn’t confusing at all, so please enlighten me. I didn’t delete it per say. I deleted it off of mine and moved it to yours, so you would see it better and definitely versus on mine which you may or not be able to see. Andrewh7 (talk) 09:15, 22 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

Re: Warning

I assume your warning is referring to my edits on the Imperial Navy page? In my defense, it was only two reverts (not three) and that was only because, due to no explanations or sources for the initial changes, I genuinely thought the other editor made a mistake (at best). But after the second time I looked around a bit instead of reverting it and it seems their edit, while unreferenced and rather weird, was factually correct. So I decided to leave it afterwards (though you have to admit the other user could have done a better job explaining themselves). My point being that I think such a "big red warning" for an immediate block seems a bit harsh; but then I am not an admin either. Timjer (talk) 22:25, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Alright then, thanks for clarifying. For a moment there I was afraid I was truly on the verge of receiving a block. Timjer (talk) 22:38, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
Happened to me as well. I'm just not gonna edit anything on this Wiki. Ekhart's Ladder has pointed out how frantic things get here (the topic of Alien anatomy started some stupid "debate" on here, leading to bans, deletions, etc. Wookiepedia was like this before the Disney acquisition as well. It's namely due to people making stuff up, so the rules will have to stay like this, since there's malicious editors out there trying to cause problems or fights for a bit of clout. -Amadeus-Belmont 03:55, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
This conversation is nothing to do with you, your input is not needed, thank you. Tommy-Macaroni 09:17, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Unidentified individuals

I've been noticing that there are unidentified characters such as Jedi, the Nightbrothers in JFO, the colonists on Kiros, the other Padawans of Mavra Zane besides the ones that have names (a Mon Calamari, another Twi'lek, at least three humans and etc.), and etc. that don't have pages, should pages be created for them or be left alone? Andrewh7 (talk) 01:49, 21 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

  • Generally we only consider nameless characters notable for an article if they have dialogue. They would have to be distinguishable characters though, not just indistinguishable grunts who say "Get him" or something when attacking you. Tommy-Macaroni 09:17, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

AC136

Come on, let's do it for the one-hundred-and-thirty-sixth time on January 9. Imperators II(Talk) 15:18, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

Possible Deceased category

At the moment, there is no category to group deceased characters together and let users know which characters are deceased. A deceased category or something that starts with deceased like Deceased characters or individuals might be useful or effective for this. By looking at the page (before we actually go into the page and see it in the infobox), we don't know that they're in fact dead/deceased, but a category would change that and let us which characters are dead. Andrewh7 (talk) 00:48, 22 December 2020 (UTC) Andrewh7

  • This is all a long time ago, all characters are dead. We don't need a category for this. Tommy-Macaroni 08:56, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

RE:Warning

Lmao I don’t know what you’re talking about. There were issues on two pictures, which I fixed. I don’t understand how that is considered low quality edits because I used an old template by one of YOUR admins, which again were fixed well before your message. It’s just a picture lmaoUnsigned comment by Camelboiis (talk • contribs)

  • I mean, once he showed me that one I fixed all other problems as you can see on all the other photos I uploaded for that page. I also don’t even know how you were alerted to that conversation as once again, it was fixed well before you messaged me. And finally the original one I did was Based off of Darth Ruiz image of the Incinerator Trooper for the same game. Admittedly I didn’t “[[]]” the source but otherwise it was near identical (as they were from the same place). Once again I’ve fixed most, if not all, the pictures I used to the new standards based on what Winters sent me over 15 hours ago so I don’t understand the issue.
