The DP-23 was a type of blaster that could pierce through enemy defenses. It was used by the Grand Army of the Republic's clone troopers during[2] the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[3] The DP-23 fired blue blaster bolts, and had a ridged barrel with a pointed muzzle, a black stock, and a small foregrip. At one point during the war, a clone trooper wearing Phase I clone trooper armor fired the DP-23 on[1] the jungle planet Felucia.[4]

Behind the scenes

The DP-23 was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in an article titled "New Models," published by Fantasy Flight Games on their website in 2019.[2] The blaster was created for an upgrade card in the Phase I Clone Troopers Upgrade Expansion,[1] a 2020 expansion pack for the Star Wars: Legion miniatures game, also published by Fantasy Flight Games.[5]

The DP-23 originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity as the DP-23 Rifle, and first appeared in the Trials of Obi-Wan expansion[6] for Sony Online Entertainment's Star Wars Galaxies MMORPG, published by LucasArts in 2005.[7]
