Continuity
The manga adaptation has several differences from the original short film. Haruichi noted they had a slightly different take from the anime, but that they hoped it would help the reader to be "guided by the Force."[4]
- The Yasaburō clan member Suke has no dialogue in the anime.[5] In the manga,[4] he[6] tells Yasaburō, the head of the clan, that they need to flee before Imperial troops arrive.[4]
- The Yasaburō clan member Kaku is present during the Yasaburō's argument with his daughter Ochō in the anime.[5] In the manga, a different clan member takes their place,[4] and, unlike Kaku,[5] they have a line of dialogue.[4]
- Two clan members who were not named had dialogue in the anime[5] that was not present in the manga.[4]
- In the anime, Lop waits in the Yasaburō household with a clan elder after Yasaburō goes to meet with Ochō.[5] In the manga, she instead visits the beach where Ochō convinced Yasaburō to adopt her.[4]
- The prologue of the anime[5] is instead presented as a flashback in the manga that occurs when Lop visits the beach.[4]
- In the anime, when Lop travels to Tao's Imperial base, she crashes her SLA-93 landspeeder and arrives at the base on foot after gliding some distance with her umbrella.[5] In the manga, she instead drives the speeder directly to the base.[4]
- In the manga, following Lop and Ochō's duel, Yasaburō asks Lop if it is over, and she responds that Ochō is gone.[4] The lines were not present in the anime.[5]
