Card game template

Hey mate,

I'm back from a 6ish year hiatus! I was just looking into the card game template issue and almost raised a CT on the matter when I realised I had done that already. Problem with the bot

Hi Cade, I found a problem caused by your bot. It's about the "Fixing file extensions" that replaced "JPG" to "jpg". As shown in this example the capitalized JPG should absolutely be kept when it is part of an url in the SWGTCG template (for cards). You can probably make a new program to change the "jpg" to "JPG" only when "https://swg.fandom.com/wiki/File" is present. Best, Hk 47 (talk) 00:41, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

The top template

Hi Cade,

I'm an admin & bureaucrat over at Stranger Things Wiki, we're currently looking at ways to enhance the site's design. While browsing various other fan wikis for inspiration, I was really impressed by the 'Top' template/module that Wookiepedia uses. It's such a subtle and non-assuming way to visually denote the article type, I really like it.

Would it be possible if you, or anyone else willing to help, could give ST Wiki a hand in creating a similar template? My aim is to create something much more modest than what you guys have; all I want to implement is a version of the 'real world' icon, for real world articles. There's no need for anything beyond that.

I feel that this is probably a pretty modest and achievable goal, but still, when I opened up the Module:Top page, I had no idea how to make sense of it, so I thought it would be a good idea to reach out to people who might actually know what they're doing, haha.

Question about certain Character Colors

Hi, so I've noticed that in Template:Character, character colors were added for the following: Eternal Empire, Confederation, First Order, Resistance, Nihil, and Musician. Yet, the actual colors used are not included in the page, Template:Charcolor. Could you please tell me where those colors are generated from? I'm just curious. Module archivedate cleanup thought

Some thoughts as I've been identifying these to clean up...

1. Is it possible to do something that would put such template uses with 'archiveurl=' rather than 'archivedate=' into a category?
2. Is it possible to make it so that if the template has 'oldversion=1' on it, plus a 'archivedate=' that's a custom date that it would go into a new category? (reason being that these ones are typically intentionally added to the links in question)
3. Is it possible to list card ones (ie {{Topps}}) where there's a 'cardname=', but no 'url=' or 'link='?

MediaDateCheck module

Btw, something you changed in Module:MediaDateCheck has added a TON of pages to the Templates with duplicate parameters category. Each page gives the following warning:

Warning: Template:Movie is calling Module:MediaDateCheck with more than one value for the "template_name" parameter. Only the last value provided will be used.

JocastaBot's creating new nomination pages.

When you get the chance, could you please add code to your bot when it creates a new category, it includes the Magic Word "__EXPECTUNUSEDCATEGORY__" so that the page doesn't get added to Special:UnusedCategories when the user has no active nominations? • The vast majority of Jedi Temple component articles were created by an editor who was notorious for that sort of thing, and such a division is generally discouraged. Hey, I removed Jedi Temple challenge on the timeline well because, its not canon. If it needs to be on the timeline for the source engine (I don't know what that is lol), then surely a better spot for it would be under "Unknown placement" section at the bottom of the timeline? • As far as I'm aware, Jedi Temple Challenge is indeed canon. Articles from it are not marked as non-canon and we don't list it in non-canon appearances on our articles. The media timeline is need for C4-DE Bot to be able to sort Appearances sections correctly, and all we know about Jedi Temple Challenge is that it's pre-Clone Wars. Chiss specializations

"Chiss" just means a shortcut for Ascendancy in most of these cases, not a species. They're equivalents of Republic pilot and New Republic pilot. Sometimes Jagged Fel is called a Chiss pilot, and he's obviously not a Chiss. --Goodmind (talk) 21:09, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

Does this mean that the dates/comments within the Source sections on individual pages will only update once the Wookieepedia:Sources page has been corrected but not actually update on idividual pages until the bot runs again and therefore don't need to be updated manually? Darth Krall on comic cover variant

Hi. As a sole native language editor I'm trying to keep up with everything on Georgian wiki, so I've noticed your bot has removed Darth Vader (2020) 25 from Darth Krall appearances section, though it is established it's Krall on that cover. Chiss Phalanx

Both The Essential Atlas and The Unknown Regions treat Colonial and Household Phalanxes as separate units, where they get treated as the same thing? --Goodmind (talk) 16:32, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

• The Sanbra and CSWE both refer to them as the same unit that simply distinguishes the term "Colonial" vs "Household" as to whether or not the world that the Phalanx is assigned to is a family homeworld or not. They're the same type of unit, the title just differs depending on which world, so they only need one article, particularly since the number of ruling families shifts. Klasse A

Wouldn't it make more sense for Klasse A to be a star or Mobus? Why would Zonama get charted under different names? And A implies it is something in primary/first orbit. --Goodmind (talk) 18:49, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

• It very well could be Mobus, yeah, actually, but it's definitely not the star. The text says that they'd have set the probe in orbit around Klasse A in order to monitor Sekot, which would make no sense if they were setting it in orbit around the star because it'd be too far away to monitor the "moon" successfully. Wild Space

Hello, no not solely. I noticed that several icons on the Star Wars Galaxy Map were colored white within other colored regions on the Star Wars Galaxy Map instead of having the exact same color as those regions. I started to notice a correlation between those that had Legends analogs and when I checked the canon pages the canon sources also listed Wild Space. I therefore concluded that these locations were intentionally colored white within those regions to denote Wild Space locations. LadyNeret (talk) 02:28, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

EpisodeGuide template

Hi. While Wookieepedia doesn't use the {{EpisodeGuide}} yet, I've noticed its creation and copied it to ka-wiki a while ago and translated it. Needless to say, it's very-very useful and quite a heavy work has been done and I personally thank you for this one. Here's something I've noticed - when using appearance templates or any other sort of a text, it always jumps to new line for that text/template and never aligns it on the same one. In this case it shows "(Picture only)" on a new line and Andor "Aldhani" episode guide on the first one. It's just a note to let you know about the future required fixes. I have recently been studying data analysis knowledge, and the interest arose in me to make a Star Wars themed dashboard. I didn´t find the necessary data in the sense how you categorize it, Technology, Places, Society, etc. My main interest is to see if I can have access to the Wookieepedia datasets, I understand that it is a community, but I have no commercial interests, I am only collecting information to recreate a fantastic story with data. OutlawsComicDate

Could you add a "concurrent" or "shortly after" parameter to the OutlawsComicDate template? As in the template would produce something along the lines of: "Crimson Reign 5 takes place before Outlaws, and that takes place in 3 ABY, therefore [comic issue], which takes place before/concurrently/shortly after CR5 must also take place in 3 ABY" depending on what's in the brackets.

Regarding C4-DE Bot

Hi, I'm an admin on another wiki, and I'm working on improving that wiki's Discord server. I have an #announcements channel, but I want it to have a bot to auto-populate it in a similar way as your C4-DE Bot does on this wiki's #announcements. I've looked around, but I can't seem to find an easy way to replicate that bot's functions. Is there any assistance you could give me? Is there a Discord app that could be integrated into my server that does the same thing? Or how might I set up a similar bot?

200,000 Pool

Heya, Cade. So I recently learned about the decision to change the page count total via Javascript to suppress the disambiguation pages. This places the page count at 190,383, instead of the 222,362 of the page count. However, this has created what believe was an unintentional issue - the 200,000 Pool. The contest is still using the original page count, which is very close to 200,000, and the contest is in fact supposed to be closed once the number of articles reaches 199,500. But do we continue using the old page count, or should we move to new one that people now see on the top right? I know it's just a contest, but I think it's something that people have been paying attention to closely recently, given that we were closing in on 200,000. • I'm aware of Tope's opinion on the matter, but that is not policy and frankly his opinions are no longer relevant, and nearly all established ship class names are split across the two fields; additionally, if we were to adhere to his mindset, we would be unable to name the several dozen sectors that are given names in the Encyclopedia as they'd just be titled "Chaama" instead of "Chaama sector". The naming of sectors is quite simple. In contrast, the naming of ships and techs is varied: sometimes partial names are given in the MODEL section, sometimes full names. It is not clear whether our way combining full names is really correct. At least the source does not ID the ship as an "FR-193D hauler". • There is long-standing precedent with Jes Gistang, Revan and others that being mentioned in a toy line doesn't equate to full recanonization, especially when the name originated from a side product or something that's explicitly non-canon.
