Re: Fact Files

Unfortunately, we can't get around removing "initial"/"revised remake" because the initial 5 issues have "Part" as part of their titles, too. But I'll see what I can do about moving those pages. CC7567 (talk) 02:25, April 21, 2014 (UTC)

Edit reverts

It may be in your best intentions to keep information accurate in this Wiki but I have noticed that you often revert my contributions without valid basis. Recently you did this in two topics named Leeha Narezz and Warren Sedoru. I have added content in to these two articles as per revelations in Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia. Kindly respect my contributions and do not start unnecessary edit wars. I am not a troll and I do not appreciate reversions of my contributions without valid basis. Clone Trooper confusion

Ok, I am confused. For the GA nomination - Good article nominations/Unidentified clone trooper 2 - JangFett mentioned that there is no need to mention his being a human male, as that is covered by saying he is a clone trooper. This is supported by the GA 2242. However, for the CA nomination (which might end up being a GA) - Comprehensive article nominations/Unidentified clone trooper - both Commander Code-8 and yourself are asking for mention of that clone being human, contradicting the aforementioned article.

As this involves two inqs and an edu member, I am not sure what to do, though i am inclined to follow what Jang said, as the aforementioned article agrees with this. I have left messages on the other users pages as well. Thanks for helping with trying to clear this up, i tried IRC but got no response, and posting a topic on the senate hall wouldn't necessarily get a response from you. User pages and bot editing

Cade, please remember that the rules regarding editing of other users' user pages apply equally to bots as well as humans. With very few exceptions, your bot should not be editing user pages for routine tasks without the permission of that user. Some people have things formatted in a particular way in their userspace, and an edit that would be helpful in the mainspace can ruin that chosen formatting on a user page. As a specific example, take my collection subpage, where I have gone to great lengths to format it exactly the way I want. This includes the omission of series names from work titles, because those works are in a sub-list under the series name and therefore the series name would be redundant in the titles of the individual works. Your bot blindly modified them to display series names, which is not what I want on that page, and I had to fix it manually.

Unless there are very good reasons to edit user pages, your bot should leave them alone, and in the rare case that it is absolutely necessary to edit a user page (e.g. to orphan a redirect so that a different article can be moved over top of it), the edit should be done manually in a way that does not alter the displayed text. Please keep this in mind in the future.

Checking my watchlist tonight, I found these three edits. All three of those edits broke the user's chosen formatting style. Did you not read the notice above? This is now an official warning: stop editing user pages with your bot. If you do not know how to avoid editing user pages with your bot, then you should not be operating the bot at all until you do understand how it works. I am going to make this clear: you are responsible for every edit your bot makes. If your bot continues to edit user pages, it will be a blockable offense for both you and your bot, and if that happens, I will petition to have RoboCade's bot flag revoked.

MJ, those were purposeful edits so that the redirects with the parantheticals can be deleted. If the book redirects don't have parentheticals, I don't touch them. If the formatting is that important, then I'll be sure to replace them while preserving the link text in the future. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 04:28, May 4, 2014 (UTC)
You are obviously failing to understand why those edits should not be made with a bot. The reason is that the owner of the user page has, within the confines of site policy, complete control over the formatting of their user page. Some users choose to format their collection lists to include the series name in the displayed text of every title. Others choose to exclude the series name from the titles. Your bot is changing one format to the other, because bots are inherently incapable of understanding the difference. That is why you should not be making these edits to user pages with your bot. If you want to orphan the redirect so it can be deleted, that's fine. But you need to exclude user pages from the bot run, and then edit the remaining links on user pages manually so that each page can be handled in the correct manner (meaning that you should change the link target without altering the displayed text).
Master JonathanCouncil Chambers
04:35 UTC SunMay 4, 2014
Somehow your edit to your previous comment failed to give me an edit conflict. If you can figure out how to handle user pages with your bot without modifying the displayed text, that's fine, but be extra careful with those edits. The key point here is that your should never alter the displayed text of a user page other than your own.
Master JonathanCouncil Chambers
04:40 UTC SunMay 4, 2014
Yes, it can be done with a bot—i.e. replacing "[[Tempest (novel|" with "[[Legacy of the Force|". My bot's set up where it manually queries me as to the edits it'll make, so I'll make sure to use that when changing userpage redirects. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 04:44, May 4, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, requiring manual approval per edit is a excellent idea when messing with user pages. User pages, more than any other pages, are prone to weird and oddball formatting, and there's always a chance that the bot might misinterpret the wikitext and try to do something that it shouldn't.

Just as a heads-up, I'm going to be purging the rest of the four-digit-comma-years site-wide tomorrow, as we're trying to deprecate and delete them as they're essentially fanon. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 05:11, May 4, 2014 (UTC)
OK. Just keep in mind that even on that, the display text of user pages should not be altered. It is up to each individual user to see the bot changing the link target and decide for themselves whether to change the display text. Some might prefer to keep the comma on their user page, which is fine.

Unspecified gender category

Hello Cade, I saw your bot's replacing all unidentified gender category with individuals of unspecified gender. However, just from looking at a couple of my articles alone, I see that the bot did not check to alphabetize categories, so now articles such as ST-103 and TK-420 have categories no longer in alphabetical order. I'd imagine this would be the same with a lot of other articles too, so is there a way to get your bot to fix those? Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 20:47, May 2, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Alderaan

Thanks for the heads-up, Cade. ;-) Actually, I'm appalled by the look this article will have when it's finished. All these articles will look so meager... But I won't despair so easily; I'll keep squeezing everything I can from the very few canon sources we have. By the way, does the official website encyclopedia still count? Rogue Squadron series

Hey Cade, saw you reverted my huge changes to the Rogue Squadron series page - all of them. In the change log your only reason is "Battle for Naboo is not part of the series". So why did you revert all the changes? If you say you deleted them because of the Battle for Naboo inclusion then why did you delete all the other stuff? Besides it is part of the series, as a spin-off, which I wrote multiple times - it comes from the same team, uses the same engine and mechanics and is usually described as a sequel to Rogue Squadron. But anyway, don't want to focus on BfN too much, why did you revert all the other changes I've made? Cheers, smintili (talk) 17:19, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

Hello from another wiki

I just heard the horrible news yesterday. I don't edit on here very much - because, well, I read a lot of the books as a kid, and there is that much material in the universe that I was hard pressed to find anything TO add - but know that I, and many others like me, visit this wiki. (If we didnt, it wouldn't be mentioned in various media). I just wanted to leave a message to say that we wish you all the best of luck with the whole "Legends" issue. Just know that the entire site is awesome, and no doubt will continue to be so in the future. TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 11:06, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Type

Well, some of the articles don't have Legends counterparts, so I was under the impression that we wouldn't need the "Legends" tabs for subjects that have appeared exclusively in canon material, such as the Rebels articles. CC7567 (talk) 19:16, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

  • TCW does fall into both EU and Canon, but most Season Six subjects/articles don't incorporate any EU material at all, so I don't see why we would need Legends tabs that would literally be the exact same thing as the Canon tab. CC7567 (talk) 19:18, May 11, 2014 (UTC)
    • Yeah, I talked to Tope and if something doesn't exist/isn't affected by the EU, then it shouldn't have a Legends tab—only the Canon one, since it would be canon-exclusive. CC7567 (talk) 20:00, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

Implementation of new canon articles

Hi Cade. I was about to implement a canon version of the "Bail Antilles" article—easy one since it would be VERY short—but I noticed that your "Moraband" article does not exist anymore. Has it been decided not to implement those yet? --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 19:26, May 11, 2014 (UTC)

  • Yeah, we're waiting for the default-page vote to finish. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 19:28, May 11, 2014 (UTC)
    • Hi Cade, that's me again. How am I supposed to title a canon article that has the same name as the legends one? --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 09:24, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

Canontab

Hey Cade, could you explain to me when Canontab will be implemented in an article in regards to Top? Like, will Canontab only appear if both the Legends and Canon tabs exist? I'm assuming that's the case given your example implementation on Kanan, but I just wanted to confirm that. Also, just to let you know, I do agree that the majority of event articles from TCW episodes in particular will still need to have both Legends and Canon tabs, since there are several EU events (notably, Atraken, Foerost, Drongar, and Mygeeto) that run concurrent to them and would need to be detailed in Legends tabs—not to mention all the event articles from TCW comics/novels that still fall under the EU. CC7567 (talk) 15:11, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

  • We've actually been discussing this further, and because most of the ships and other stuff in TCW have EU names (Venator-class etc.) it'll probably be necessary to have Legends & Canon tabs for all of those. And you're correct; Canontab will only appear if both the Canon and Legends articles exist, though it'll take either /Canon pages or specially-named pages like Moraband. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 15:16, May 12, 2014 (UTC)
    • Alright, thanks. And yeah, I agree about the need for both tabs for basically all TCW/film articles. Also, this is unrelated, but have you thought about adding an option to compare the Canon/Legends tabs in Canontab using Special:ComparePages? It might be a helpful function to add so that readers can compare the two tabs. It's actually rather easy to implement, since the link to the compare page would just be Special:ComparePages?page1=FIRSTARTICLE&page2=SECONDARTICLE, e.g. Special:ComparePages?page1=Voe Atell&page2=Bec Lawise—the challenge would be making the button/display pretty enough to look good within Canontab. CC7567 (talk) 15:30, May 12, 2014 (UTC)
      • I.... wow. I never thought of that. I'll look at implementing that, though Tope's currently commandeering me and RoboCade to add Eras to everything. :P Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 15:32, May 12, 2014 (UTC)
        • Haha, I can take a look into it and then it can be tweaked for readability/appearance. I had the idea last night so I'll see what I can do. CC7567 (talk) 15:47, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

How does this look? I was going to use "(diff)" instead of "(c)," but I thought it would be too long, so I went with the shorter option. CC7567 (talk) 15:59, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

  • Looks pretty good We might want to move it to the right of both tabs and make it fancy, but formatting can always be changed. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 16:13, May 12, 2014 (UTC)

Liberation of Camp 4 correction

What do you mean, "All unnecessary additions". Instead of "The Federation had enslaved most of the planet's inhabitants", you'll should've added The Trade Federation had enslaved most of the planet's inhabitants and put them into camps such as Camp Four, so Naboo's Bravo Squadron wanted to liberate the camp to add to the Naboo Resistance as they prepared to retake their planet from the invaders.

It says "camp to add to the" which is NOT a good sentence to ME!!! You should be added from "camp to add to the" to "camp and add to the" of "camp to add the".

It says "under heavy fire from the base and from a missile turret" which is also NOT the correct sentence. It should "under heavy fire from the base and a missile turret"

Re: Type

Hey Cade. I was under the impression—from a discussion I had with Tope—that for articles whose Canon and Legends versions would be identical (or very nearly identical), then it would be redundant to create both versions, so only a Canon version would be acceptable. (Of course, if there's even the slightest bit of Legends info that affects the article, then it would need both Canon/Legends versions.) From my discussion with Tope, I was under the impression that it would be fine, within a Legends article, to link to a Canon subject (assuming the article exists in both continuities). Either way, I'm confused, so if you could hop on IRC for a bit, that would be great. Otherwise I'll catch you on IRC tomorrow. CC7567 (talk) 05:04, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

  • After talking with Tope, I've restored the two tabs that I deleted until there's a definite criteria for which articles need two tabs, one, etc. Hopefully the TCW problem is something that we can continue to discuss. CC7567 (talk) 05:39, May 17, 2014 (UTC)

Dac/Mon Cala

Hey Cade, for some reason Mon Cala's legends button didn't link to Dac. Its legends button linked to Mon Cala, while its canon button linked to Mon Cala/Canon. It could have been an Top tag issue, but everything checked out and properly pointed to the correct article. Korriban and Moraband oddly work. JangFett (Talk) 00:16, May 18, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Dathomir

In my opinion, it's a rare case of something published after April 25 that still affects both Legends as well as canon, due to the fact that it's part of TCW—which exists in both continuities. This is likely going to be the last TCW product ever released, but it was originally composed before the April 25 announcement, so I don't see a reason to omit the information from Legends. CC7567 (talk) 22:31, May 21, 2014 (UTC)

    • No problem. If you need any links adjusted because of canon pages overwriting redirects (like Battle of Geonosis), let me know and RoboCade will fix 'em. I've been compiling a list, and stuff like Commando droid (BX-series), super battle droid, Trade Federation landing ship (C-9979), and Separatist destroyer (Recusant-class) are just a few of them. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 18:34, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

          • It only identified the memorial itself as the "First Battle Memorial," which I don't think is enough to call the battle itself as such. The "First Battle" name has always been from the TCW guidebooks, not from TCW itself. CC7567 (talk) 18:45, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

Also, this is an unrelated question, but were we planning on creating separate IU categories for Legends and Canon? For example, currently Category:Battles of the Clone Wars is for Legends articles, but do we have the means to create one for canon articles as well? CC7567 (talk) 18:47, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

  • At this point, no; we've discussed the issue, but we already include non-canon articles in our in-universe categories—1137 is listed in the clone troopers category, despite being a non-canon character. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 18:49, May 22, 2014 (UTC)

These things

Takin vs. Tarkin (disambig)

Hello Cade! Unless I'm mistaken, Tarkin has no known first name in the new canon—both the movies and the official online encyclopedia just call him "Tarkin." For that reason, I think that the "Tarkin" page should not redirect to the disambig. What do you think? --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 11:36, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • I believe that's why I moved it, actually; so that a new article could overwrite "Tarkin". I'll RoboCade the links to Tarkin tonight. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 11:38, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
    • Ah, I must confess I don't always get all the technical aspects behind all this. Please don't blame me when I don't. ;-) All right then, I guess that will be good. --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 11:42, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
      • No problem. If you're going to overwrite a redirect with a canon article, feel free to leave me a message with the page name, and I'll bot-fix all of the existing links so we won't have any Legends articles pointing to that new canon article. For example, when I get home I'll change all Tarkin links to Wilhuff Tarkin. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 12:15, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Category:Miscellaneous films

Why did you remove this category from those video game articles? A key component of those particular games is live-action footage. I saw that you left the Star Tours rides in the category, but not these. Adamwankenobi (talk) 15:04, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • I didn't notice the Star Tours, but live-action footage doesn't qualify a game to be listed in films. It's still just a game. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 15:24, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Re: The Lost Missions

Yeah, I agree. I'll take care of the move. CC7567 (talk) 18:41, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • I was talking to Toprawa, and he agreed with me that we should be giving precedence to canon articles over Legends articles. I realize that Hawk is currently still the Legends version, but it'll work better once Legends are moved to /Legends and canon to the main page. In the case of Hawk, people are going to be looking for the clone trooper much more than they would for the animal. CC7567 (talk) 20:05, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Lucky redirect

Hey Cade, I wanted to add a somewhat priority request to RoboCade's to-do list. All links to Lucky need to be changed to Lucky, and all uses of 23 need to be changed to 23 in light of the IU clone trooper (Lucky) being given precedence over the OOU comic (Lucky (comic)). No rush, but I'd appreciate it if you could take care of it sooner rather than later. Thanks. CC7567 (talk) 20:38, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • All done, and starting on the pages you moved earlier. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 22:09, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Title question

Hey Cade. Quick question since you're handling a lot of canon redirects and titles. For the Rebel Alliance canon page, is that going to be called Rebel Alliance, Rebel Alliance/Canon, or Alliance to Restore the Republic? I've seen a few different uses and wanted to ask for consistency's sake. Thanks! - Brandon Rhea(talk) 15:12, May 24, 2014 (UTC)

  • So far, I'm keeping track of them here: User:Cade Calrayn/Canon. The Rebel Alliance encyclopedia does refer to the Rebel Alliance by their formal name, so it'll go at Alliance to Restore the Republic/Canon. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 15:13, May 24, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Mandalore

Alright. I've been mostly taking care of the TCW pages, so I'll leave the others up to you. CC7567 (talk) 20:44, May 24, 2014 (UTC)

Derlin

Hi Cade! If I may inquire, what do you think is wrong with the Derlin article? I doin't think there's anything left in it that doesn't come directly from ESB. I didn't do a mere copy-paste job, I think I pruned it quite carefully. --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 14:19, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

  • Hey, it's been a while since I saw the movie, but I don't remember him being named in the movie. Plus, when I looked at it, I saw mentions of the name "Bren" in the body of the article. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 14:21, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
    • He was named "Major Derlin" in the movie credits. But the remaining mentions of "Bren" (except one I just deleted) specifically refer to his Legends counterpart. ;-) --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 14:24, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

Category:Banite Sith

Hey Cade. I noticed you removed Category:Banite Sith from Palpatine/Canon, presumably with the reasoning that it's from the Legends continuity. I think that category can still apply, given that the canon Darth Bane and the canon Rule of Two were introduced in the series finale of The Clone Wars. Per that episode, as well as Bane's SW.com Encyclopedia entry, we know that he was canonically the first of a new line of the Sith based around the Rule of Two. Would you have any objection to me putting Category:Banite Sith back onto the canon Palpatine page? Given that there's no canonical mention, that I'm aware of, to the Order of the Sith Lords, "Banite Sith" seems like a good catch-all. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 20:13, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

Palpatine

Hey Cade. So, I have trimmed the Palpatine section to remove all the unsourced stuff. No original research, no speculation. But, the Sarli stuff and Sithis are far from original research and speculation: they are the most definite C-Canon answer to the "Emperor's face debate", one of the most controversial aspects to the character, and should most definitely be there. As should the other sourced info. I understand your position as far as sourcing everything is concerned, but surely you must understand my position: you took out a lot of sourced stuff that belongs in the Palpatine article and DIDN'T replace it (Sarli, Sithisis, Sansweet's comment that Palpatine may have no first name, the fact that there are other people called Palpatine, and his name in Sith from the Insider article). Information backed by official sources belongs in the article, and I'm sure we can agree on that. I still haven't sourced every single thing, so I'll keep working on it. --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 (talk) 21:54, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

  • The discussion about Sithisis is still speculation; at most, there can be a sentence saying that the comic shows him "masking" his face. The comments of both Sarli and Sansweet are completely unnecessary; neither of them have the influence for their comments outside of official publications to be taken as canon. As for the naming, it's complete trivia and utterly unnecessary to discuss other individuals with the same name. The Insider section that you mention is also speculation; the article is uncertain as to the real-world origins of the name Palpatine, and thus the Sith translation is also speculation. There's really nothing worth salvaging here. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 22:29, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
    • On Sithisis: it's correct that the mention of the comic should be something like "he masks his face with a Sith ritual"; that's in my revision already. But Sarli? You are wrong. All the other in-universe stuff published on the Wizards of the Coast webpage are C-Canon, and Sarli offered in-universe info on the Wizards of the Coast webpage. This is not from a "questionable source", or a "self-published source". Wizards of the Coast held the license; that's how this works. All the Insider stuff is also from an official publication (an Insider, after all), by writers paid by Lucasfilm for said articles. As official as it gets. Of course, we must mention that the 100% officially licensed article mentions that it speculates on the point of "Palpatine" being related to "palpate" and does not assume to say that the person who came up with it meant it to be related to "palpate", but as long as we do that, the info definitely belongs there. None of the stuff I've kept is against Wookieepedia policy; I have removed original research and theories, which are. --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 (talk) 22:45, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
      • Sarli's position does not give him the authority to declare C-canon in OOU, non-official posts. Unless you can provide actual links proving your points, then it's speculation. Even then, the Insider speculation is still just speculation and unnecessary. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 22:53, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
        • How is "Jedi Counseling" unofficial? As I said, Wizards of the Coast held the license for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. Wizards of the Coast authorizing Sarli to answer questions about Star Wars IS the authority to declare C-Canon. Wizards of the Coast web supplements are treated as C-Canon all over Wookieepedia. Jedi Counceling is not an exception. And as I said, I have read Wookieepedia policy; citing officially published sources isn't speculation. That Sith language article from Insider is used as a source on the Sith language article. It's only cited, oh I don't know, a trillion times. It's the last word on the Sith language, actually (and now parts of it are G-Canon). There is absolutely no justification for opposing its use on the Palpatine article. --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 (talk) 23:03, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
        • You're reaching. Jedi Counseling is meant as a Q&A for the roleplaying game, not Star Wars in general. It's not a standard web enhancement. Also, the Insider article is fine for sources, but when it's just the author speculating on the origin of the real-world name. Looking more at the text, that's something that'd be more acceptable to mention, but cut the speculation and size of the mention down to a minimum. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 23:09, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
        • I'm not reaching anywhere, because stats appearing in the Wizards of the Coast website are used in many articles. Example: XQ2 Platform -- https://web.archive.org/web/20091228104322/http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/Mesop1 Sarli offers stats about the Mask power in response to a question about Palpatine's face swap. And as to how "Jedi Counceling" is not a standard web enhancement, you'd have to prove that somehow, because I really don't see the difference. If we accept stats elsewhere, we must accept them from that. As to the speculation, I removed all of it and have now cited most sections. --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 (talk) 23:17, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
            • If that's true, then Sarli's statements are definite and thus the only canon information we have for the topic. Visionaries is s-canon-esque and is overridden by other content, so Sithisis's disguise representation is essentially false. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 23:27, May 25, 2014 (UTC)
  • If Sithisis is S-Canon (we treat the Albino Cyclops stuff as C-Canon, so how in the name of the... well, albino cyclops, could it possibly be), a brief sentence about it still belongs BtS, definitely, because S-Canon is "canon until proven otherwise", not "non-canon until proven otherwise". Too fuzzy for the main section, maybe, yes. Another thing: Here's an example of "Jedi Counceling" stats: https://web.archive.org/web/20090603072956/https://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/sw20050623jc68 (6th Q&A.) There is no reason they can't be used as a source for the Troig article. I don't see how Force mask, with an article of its own citing Sarli's Jedi Counceling, shouldn't be in the Palpatine article. I don't see why it shouldn't be in the main section as well, actually. Anyway, I'll keep working on it tomorrow, cleaning it up and making sure nothing's left unsourced (should also get citations for that Force Mask article as well). --R5-X41238-G8-R3-3124-D2 (talk) 23:39, May 25, 2014 (UTC)

  • Yes, we are; however, they're not going to be identical; a lot of stuff doesn't have canon names, so the articles will use different names in the text. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 16:38, June 1, 2014 (UTC)

"Creature articles that have yet to be recategorized"

Hi Cade -- I'm presuming RoboCade's recent "Adding temporary mass-category for use in overhauling the categorization of creatures" wasn't supposed to be for sentient species, correct? Diet categories

Hi Cade. Kudos for the great work you're doing with the species categories! It's a real huge project, and I'm eager to see it completed. :-) Little question here: since you do use the term "piscivorous" (as opposed to "fish-eating"), why don't you use "ergovorous" instead of "energy-eating?" Cheers. --Lelal Mekha Old Republic military symbol (Audience Room) 18:23, June 4, 2014 (UTC)

  • Huh. Didn't even know that was a word. Thanks, I'll change it. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 18:25, June 4, 2014 (UTC)
    • My pleasure. Please note that I had originally written ergAvorous when it really is ergOvorous. Question about Edit on Timeline of Legends media

Hello, I am just curious about the reasons behind the edit you just made to the Timeline of Legends media page. I am trying to modify the code to make it more readable. It shouldn’t affect the contents of the page at all. I’m just trying to make the page easier to maintain. The edit you made seemed to introduce a bit of inconsistency. All the other sections are “Old Republic era”, “Rebellion era”, etc. It seems inconsistent to have one simply called “Before the Republic” instead of “Before the Republic era”. I’m hoping to avoid any conflicts. Thanks.
Eшσҡ $їтӈ Lōяƌ 17:37, June 9, 2014 (UTC)

  • The name "Before the Republic era" is a fanon designation that's the result of an anon creating the era article. All material refers to it simply as "Before the Republic", rather than "Before the Republic era", so consistency isn't really a factor when using the word era is factually wrong. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 17:39, June 9, 2014 (UTC)
    • Okay. Thanks. You know, if we could somehow create templates for this stuff, then you’d only have to make a change in one place instead of the countless pages that maybe refer to it. Just a thought.

So that mean we should be VERY careful on how we treat that section

Star Wars Rebels: Sabine My Rebel Sketchbook article

Hello Cade, could you please explain in more detail why you tagged the Star Wars Rebels: Sabine My Rebel Sketchbook article for deletion? The book it is referencing seems perfectly legitimate, so it follows that there should be an article for it. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 20:27, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

  • The author of the article (hidden behind proxies) is Darth Pickle 2, a banned sockpuppeteer who is notorious for creating shoddy articles on anything he finds on Amazon; standard procedure nowadays when he creates an article via a proxy IP is to delete the article. In addition, the name of the Amazon book is almost always different, if not radically so, from the finished product. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 20:58, June 17, 2014 (UTC)
    • Nevertheless, regardless of the circumstances behind its creation, I don't see any reason why the article should be tagged for immediate deletion. We'll deal with Pickle when the need arises, but I feel a scorched-earth campaign is overkill, especially since the article would just be recreated at some later time. Grand Moff Tranner Imperial Department of Military Research (Comlink) 20:47, June 18, 2014 (UTC)

TCW season subtitles

Hey there, I noticed you reverted my addition of the subtitles to the article although I don't quite understand the reasoning behind it. The Lost Missions is the subtitle of Season 6 (the official press release specifically calls it "the sixth and final season" and its iTunes page identifies it as such as well). And like for the previous seasons, the subtitle is usually the tagline of the respective marketing campaign, which in the case of Season 5 is Who Will Fall? (although in this case I can understand that it's open to interpretation). May I revert the edit (at least the part regarding Season 6)? Alexrd (talk) 11:57, June 18, 2014 (UTC)

  • No, because other than that "sixth and final season" thing, The Lost Missions is never called Season 6 or anything like that. It's not considered an actual season, which is why it was released under the subtitle rather than "Season 6". Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 12:02, June 18, 2014 (UTC)
    • Not considered an actual season? Do you have a source? Since it's defined as sixth and final season on its official press release, I'd say it's officially considered an actual season. The fact that it's also being sold as such on iTunes (under Lucasfilm's approval), is further evidence of that. I'm not saying that Season Six is not called The Lost Missions, I'm saying that that is its subtitle. Alexrd (talk) 13:12, June 18, 2014 (UTC)

I tried to reword my edits but you not look very cooperative to improve the editing, instead canceling all, I'm invite you to reconsider your attitude, I'm seriously considered stop edit this wiki

Timeline of canon media dates

Yes, the new canon does not have a defined dating system yet, but the timelines have never been exactly defined for all media and contain original research (the template I was in the process of added when you undid my revert) and uncertain dates. The dates are extremely useful for a general user's perspective on the universe and belong on the timeline, whether or not they have been confirmed by the powers that be.

I was also going to add a disclaimer that the dates are unverified and subject to change. Plus, whether or not there is a defined dating system, dates relative to the Battle of Yavin are unlikely to change in the new canon. Remove the hyperlinks if you want (especially as they point to Legends articles), but not all that info. Tainb'ocu'chulainn (talk) 13:40, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

  • We can't add them because, at this point, it's speculation. There could potentially be a compromise where it would say, for example, "22 years before the Battle of Yavin" as a general timeline, but actually saying "BBY" and "ABY" would be speculation because those are—for now—only Legends terms. However, that compromise is complicated by the fact that, without the Legends dating system, we don't actually know what years a lot of these stories take place. We know what order must of them take place in, but not how many years before the Battle of Yavin that many of them take place. So for now, it would be best to leave the years off of the page. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 14:47, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
    • Precisely. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 14:49, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
    • I strongly disagree that it would be best to leave the dates off the page. The dates on the media timelines have always been semi-speculative and give a helpful relative perspective between events. I don't mind adding "circa/c." to every date, removing links to the Legends articles for dates, and adding a caveat at the beginning of the article saying that dates are unconfirmed. BBY and ABY aren't just Legends terms, they are abbreviations for OOU perspective as well. Saying "22 BBY" is the same as saying "22 years before the Battle of Yavin", so long as it's not linked to the Legends article for the date. An additional note can be added that "BBY means years before the battle of Yavin" if need be. Tainb'ocu'chulainn (talk) 16:24, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
      • Except that those dates are Legends. All of the years and time differences were established by the Expanded Universe; there's nothing to suggest in NuCanon that there's 19 years between the trilogies. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 16:39, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
        • Not only that but, even as a list, that page is an encyclopedic entry. It would not be appropriate to add unconfirmed/speculative information, no matter how helpful it may seem to do so. - Brandon Rhea(talk) 16:43, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
          • There is plenty to suggest that there are ~19 years between the trilogies (Luke and Leia's age). As far as an encyclopedic entry, the old Timeline of media and current Timeline of Legends media has always had the template to indicate that there is unverified research involved, because until the (very) unlikely day that someone at Lucasfilm decides to organize all types of media into one timeline, there will always be unconfirmed/speculative information on this page. Tainb'ocu'chulainn (talk) 18:12, June 20, 2014 (UTC)
            • We deal in explicit confirmations, not suggestions. And the presence of an Original research tag does not give you license to add more original research; on the contrary, you should remove what original research is already present.
              Master JonathanCouncil Chambers
              18:17 UTC FriJune 20, 2014
              • In general, yes, original research and unverified claims should be removed. However, doing so on the timeline pages (especially with dates that are likely to be confirmed anyways at some future time) and removing very useful and informative data reduces the quality and effectiveness of the article and creates more work in the future.
I made the changes I referred to above here. If you guys can't live with these changes (or some close variant), then I'm dropping the issue and you can deal with the users who edit the other timelines when you remove those dates too. Tainb'ocu'chulainn (talk) 18:55, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

TOR armor

Hey Cade I've been think of making a CT about what we should do in terms of articles for TOR armor but thought I'd swing it by you first since your the resident TOR expert. As far as I can tell there are four groups of armor, the generic default class armors from quests which is stuff like Deadeye's Jacket and such, the random drops which have a variable company/group name at the front then a type of armor like Ithorian mariner's loose wrap although with duplicates, the crafting armor which is just stuff like Heavy Assault boots and finally the commendations armor, some of which has designations like TD-05A Marksman gloves although a lot of which can be grouped in more with the quest stuff. The options I would give are that all of it gets articles, none of it gets articles or just the designated stuff from commendations gets articles (which is what I think we did with weapons). I could also add something about adding the overall armor type from the random stuff - like instead of Ithorian mariner's loose wrap we would have a loose wraps article and then list each of the groups which you can get it under on its page since there are multiple random groups who can make each type. I personally would support the designation only, but I feel this is something we should decide as a community instead of just one or two of us choosing. It will also decide the fate of the various articles I already made a while back. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this or if you already had plans for something that this would get in the way of. Ayrehead02 (talk) 10:56, June 23, 2014 (UTC)

  • I really don't think it's necessary to make articles for any of the armors. It's a slippery slope to do any of them, and those designation armors actually are just alphanumeric designations that aren't unique—several sets share the same designation with a different adjective/word following it. Plus, we already have 3450 redlinks; there's really no reason to add hundreds more when the armors aren't really notable or pass the game-mechanics test. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 12:16, June 23, 2014 (UTC)
    • Hmm I hadn't realised the designated armors were duplicated. In that case your probably right and it isn't worth doing any of them. Fell free to delete the various clothing articles I made a while back then. I'll mark them for deletion now. Ayrehead02 (talk) 13:40, June 23, 2014 (UTC)

"Additionally, most of the links in the Appearances list should not be changed to canon links as they are not named in the new canon."

What exactly do you mean not named in the new canon? I'm fairly certain we know Yoda's name, and that he appeared in that episode and therefore is a part of the new canon.

WookieeProject Aliens

Hi Cade. Thought I'd leave you a note on the addition of the WP:AS tag to sand demon. The idea of WP:AS is that it encompasses all sentient or semi-sentient species that achieve status. It therefore includes any articles written prior to the formation of the project, or whether an author is formally a part of the project or not. Accordingly if a user goes to WP:AS there are links to all Semi/sentient species that are given status. It is intended to claiming any credit for the article but can be a signal to members to contribute to maintaining its status if that is relevant. Since the sand demon is semi-sentient, I added the tag. Do you object to it being there? --Eyrezer (talk) 02:43, July 7, 2014 (UTC)

  • Except that that's not how a WookieeProject works. You can't claim articles that aren't nominated as part of/by users that aren't participating in a project. That's why DarthRevan's attempt to claim several dozen existing status articles when he started WP:Novels was denied. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 04:01, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
    • Can you point me to the discussion of this, because it seems needlessly uncollaborative for a community-based wiki. --Eyrezer (talk) 10:31, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
      • Okay, after a step back and some discussion with other users, I understand why you tagged it and I'm fine with that. However, I do think that it'd be beneficial if WP:AS had sections on its article pages for articles promoted by users outside of the project, like WP:TCW and WP:TOR do, for example. It just came across as rather cheap (at the time) for you to tag and claim an article that wasn't involved in WP:AS at all. But it's all good now. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 13:09, July 7, 2014 (UTC)
        • Thanks Cade. I'll re-add the tag then, with your blessing. We have marked articles from outside the signed-up project members with "Guest nomination" and I'll make sure to include that next to yours. Regards --Eyrezer (talk) 00:13, July 14, 2014 (UTC)

TOR images

Hi Cade, I notice your uploading different versions of a lot of the images I've recently uploaded. While some of them are arguably better quality than mine, a lot of them are pretty much of equal quality with very little difference, for example the image of Shrokti. I feel like this duplicate uploading isn't really achieving a lot and is probably wasting both of our time. While I hugely appreciate all the work you've done on the huge amount of TOR images we have, you needn't shoulder the burden alone, and so please stop replacing images unnecessarily. Ayrehead02 (talk) 18:44, August 1, 2014 (UTC)

  • I'm selective when it comes to uploading new images, but your categorization is still rather shoddy. Most of your images are unnecessarily dark, such as Shrokti. I have plenty more images that I haven't uploaded new versions of and won't, but I will when it is necessary. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 18:49, August 1, 2014 (UTC)

Waiting til "US Release" for A New Dawn

Going on record, that is without a shadow of a doubt, the stupidest thing I've ever heard. THIS IS THE INTERNET. It's international! Also advanced copies are already available IN the US. You could probably import it from Canada or the UK. In the realms of cyberspace, if somebody has information on something, IN an international market such as a wiki, you are obligated to fact check (provided the person in question can provide said evidence, to which btw he can) and THEN post it. US Release. Doesn't stop every other wiki from posting spoilers and stuff when it gets released in the UK, heck even this own site's notorious for it. Why did you not respond to my Droid Tri-Fighter page?

Info on some pages being deleted

I've noticed that on a couple of pages, two being the Ugors and the Nazren, the info in the little box has been deleted. I don't think anyone is supposed to do that, and it is not within my power to revert it as far as I know. I assume you are a mod and can figure out what's going on.

I also need help finding something. I can't figure out where I'm supposed to ask, so this will have to do. There is an image of a tower showing the various floors. Apparently it could allow one to see the future. Palpatine had it destroyed by a pirate group. If you can find the image, for the love of all that's holy give me the link. Changes Made by RoboCade to Person Template

When I was editing some person pages just now, I noticed that fields such as "Biographical information" and "Career" on the infoboxes were instead being displayed as "Section." For some reason, a change was made by RoboCade that deleted most of the code from that template. Not sure what the reasoning behind the change was, but since it seems to have broken the infobox, I've restored the template to the August version. Which I see you've now reverted back. Anyway, that's the issue. ProfessorTofty (talk) 19:05, September 12, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, and now it seems to be fixed, so I guess we're good. ProfessorTofty (talk) 19:06, September 12, 2014 (UTC)

Television episode error

Hey Cade. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but Television episode isn't correctly displaying episode names, and as far as I can tell, it started happening after you and Tope it a few days back. I believe it's something to do with the fact that the template uses a "title" field and Infocell has a "name" field instead, but since I'm not familiar with Infocell, I'll leave it up to you to fix. Thanks. CC7567 (talk) 23:52, September 14, 2014 (UTC)

  • Ah, you're right; it's cause I based that off the television series infobox. It's an easy fix - just change "show name" to "title" in that Infocell|type=heading template. It's protected, so I can't do it myself. Cade GalacticRepublicEmblem-Traced-TORkit Calrayn 23:56, September 14, 2014 (UTC)
    • Alright, I've taken care of it. Thanks. CC7567 (talk) 00:47, September 15, 2014 (UTC)

As is used in the Darth Nox article, I found an official BioWare picture of a generic bounty hunter class character that we could potentially use for Scree.
