Plot summary

"I've done as you asked. Now clear my record. Or I blow the thermal detonator. Take your data drive and give me what I want. Now."
―Boba Fett, to Coldwell[3]

On Sterna IV, several prison guards run through the corridors containing multiple prisoners. The guards are in pursuit of the infamous bounty hunter Boba Fett, who has abducted one of the prisoners. With the guards close behind, Fett blasts a door control panel, slicing one of the guards in half. Against what would seem as impossible odds, Fett manages to escape the prison with his target. The kidnapped prisoner is convinced that it is only a matter of time before the unbeatable Empire would catch up with them, but Fett is unbothered by this. He doesn't want to beat the Empire or the Rebellion, he just wants to get paid for his work.

Returning to Ergeshui, where Fett accepted the bounty, he hands the prisoner over to Tusk, who is surprised to see the Hunter alive again. Boba Fett is given his payment and told to leave swiftly if he wants to live to spend them. Before leaving, Tusk opens the floor below the prisoner, dropping into a body of water with a deadly creature, explaining that the prisoner had done him dirty and wanted him alive for the pleasure of killing them himself. On the way out, a Trandoshan comments to the Bounty Hunter that if he is willing to sell anyone out, then everyone will sell him out in return. He is suddenly surrounded by several stormtroopers, arresting the bounty hunter for his raid on Sterna IV. Aboard a Cantwell-class Arrestor Cruiser, Captain Coldwell and an Imperial officer enter a cell belonging to Boba Fett. Fett has surmised that a deal is being made between him and the Empire, considering that his armour and equipment hadn't been confiscated. Unhappy with the attitude that Fett is showing, Coldwell tries to get to him by destroying the Credit chip he received from the Sterna IV job. She continues to inform him that they are willing to overlook the trespass on Sterna IV as long as he helps the Empire in return. Coldwell introduces the Bounty Hunter to Bantan Jabar, a thief, who stole a Datadrive from the Empire. Sending Fett to a volcanic star system, Coldwell is unconvinced he will survive the job, but if he does, he will return to the Empire's good books.

Aboard Slave I, Fett falls into a brief fight with a small group of rebels, but the opposition stops firing on the hunter, offering to talk instead of blow each other up. The leader, Rooker knows that he is in search of an Imperial Datadrive, and offers to pay double the price of his current client, or else he will blast him out of the airlock. He ultimately accepts Rooker's proposition. Fett eventually stumbles upon a volcanic moon with a crust that had cooled and thickened, running a thermal scan for cool temperatures, he discovers the hidden base in a dead lava tube. Suspecting that Jabar would know he was coming, Fett chooses not to sneak around the base, and instead charge head on. Upon close inspection, he also notices that the Oxygen recycler and Geothermal system are openly exposed. Using his Jetpack to launch a rocket at the technology, he begins his assault. Confronted by the Besalisk, Bantan Jabar, the two engage in a fight until Fett uses his Whipcord launcher to disarm and capture the bounty. Inside Bantan Jabar's ship, Fett searches for the datadrive, stumbling across a device with the imperial insignia across it. Fett asks for more information about what is on the drive, learning that it contains data on a prison full of rebels that are interrogated and tortured to death. The Besalisk makes a suggestion to the bounty hunter, suggesting they could sell the data on the Black market for a split profit, while reaching for a Sword. Fett refuses his offer before being attacked by the sword wielding criminal. Angered by everyone trying to cut a deal their way, Fett disarms the Besalisk, breaks one of his arms, and throws him to the ground, choosing his own way out of his situation.

Fett makes communication with both Imperial and Rebel parties, offering him a reward for the datadrive, Coldwell reassures Fett that his trespassing would be forgotten, but secretly arranges a squad of troopers to execute him as soon as the trade is complete. Alternatively, Fett also informs Rooker of his success and that he will transmit half of the data through the Subspace transceiver and then be given the credits they promised him. Rooker is angered by this, but Fett reassures that the rebel would receive the physical data afterwards. They also plot to execute Fett when they meet, transferring the credits back once they have the data. Arriving at a rendezvous, Coldwell uses a Tractor beam to pull Jabar's ship aboard. Arriving at the cockpit of the ship, they are greeted by a tied up Jabar with a Thermal Detonator wedged in his mouth. A Hologram of Fett informs them that if they don't clear his record, he would detonate the explosive. They comply with his terms, clearing the record and handing over the datadrive. However, Fett provided the rebels with the coordinates to the rebels as well, resulting in a large scale battle for the data. Fett swiftly leaves the system, unbothered by who would live and die, and who ended with the data, he was more concerned about the next bounty he would tackle.
