Glass was a hard, brittle, transparent or translucent material that was used for making a great variety of objects, such as windows,[2] starship viewports,[3] ornamental chandeliers,[4] jars,[5] drinking vessels,[6] doors,[7] bottles, statuettes,[8] and kaleidoscopes.[9] Glass could be used to create panes that were partially reflective and partially transparent, allowing viewing from the darkened side but not vice versa.[10] Glass could form naturally, as a product of volcanic activity,[6] or when a meteorite impacted the ground.[11] Tynzo crystal was used to reinforce glass to such an extent that it could withstand lightspeed jumps.[12]
