Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Mon Mothma issued a declaration that formally established the New Republic and completed the Alliance to Restore the Republic's transformation into a government.[1]

Behind the scenes

The declaration of a New Republic was first mentioned in Star Wars canon in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: On the Front Lines by Daniel Wallace.[1] Before that, it first appeared in Star Wars Legends in the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook, a 1992 reference book written by Bill Slavicsek.[2]
