Alexsandr Kallus' squad

(Taken to CA by Wok142 on December 22, 2024)

"I remember my first unit. The boys and I were deployed to Onderon to bring peace and security to a troubled world. We were on a routine patrol and ran into one of your rebel friends, a Lasat mercenary who worked for Saw Gerrera. I was lucky, knocked out by the first blast. I came to, but found I couldn't move. And then I saw him, the Lasat, calmly walk through smoke and fire to finish my unit off, one by one. The injured never had a chance. Always wondered why he let me live."
―Alexsandr Kallus, to Garazeb Orrelios
The Imperial Security Bureau agent Alexsandr Kallus commanded a squad of stormtroopers that was deployed to the world Onderon around 18 BBY. The mission was Kallus' first assignment following his graduation. During a routine patrol, the squad was attacked by a rebel group led by the Onderon revolutionary Saw Gerrera. Kallus was rendered unconscious by the first blast, and after regaining consciousness, found himself paralyzed, unable to move as he witnessed a Lasat warrior calmly walking through the destruction, methodically killing the rest of his men. Despite this, the Lasat spared the agent's life. Kallus harbored a hatred for Lasat due to the event. He later recounted the demise of his squad to his long-time rebel adversary, the Lasat Garazeb Orrelios, when the two were stranded on the icy moon Bahryn in 3 BBY. (Read more…)

Strontium

(Taken to CA by Imperators II on January 19, 2025)

Strontium red
"If you see purple or red sand, back up. That's rubidium or strontium, and even breathing it can kill you."
―Rey's survival guide
Strontium was a red-colored solid substance. It was poisonous, being potentially lethal to inhale. Strontium could be used as fuel for vehicles or explosives, with the use of the substance in the latter leading to red-hued explosions.

In 5 BBY, Sabine Wren, a member of the anti–Galactic Empire rebel crew of the starship Ghost, noted in her journal strontium as a possible fuel for creating red explosions. After the Galactic Civil War battle on the planet Jakku ten years later, the planet's surface became littered with the wreckage of starships and vehicles, leading to dangerous fuels such as strontium leaking in its sand. At some point prior to her departure from Jakku in 34 ABY, the human scavenger Rey mentioned strontium in the survival guide she was writing. She included in it a note with a visual depiction of a sample of the substance and wrote that strontium colored sand red, a fact that could inform scavengers to proceed with caution. (Read more…)

The Pre-Exile Masters informed the art style of Sabine Wren (pictured).

The Pre-Exile Masters were a designation associated with artists such as Tojnun, who in particular was an influence on the Mandalorian Sabine Wren's artistic style. Ketsu Onyo's informant

(Taken to CA by Wok142 on February 10, 2025)

Syndulla: "Take this data to your informant."
Wren: "Hop on, I'll drive."

―Hera Syndulla, Sabine Wren, and Ketsu Onyo[1]
The informant was an associate of Ketsu Onyo.

The informant was an associate of Ketsu Onyo.

An informant was in contact with the mercenary Ketsu Onyo during the Imperial Era. Between 3 BBY and 2 BBY, while the rebels Hera Syndulla and Sabine Wren were on the planet Garel, they rendezvoused with Onyo in order to pass her a datacard to be taken to the informant. As Onyo destroyed her speeder bike on the way to meet the pair, Wren offered to drive Onyo to the meeting on her own, freshly-painted speeder bike. However, Onyo told Wren that the informant had specified that she was to arrive to the meetup alone and Wren reluctantly allowed Onyo to take her speeder bike for the mission. Soon after, as Wren and Syndulla waited in their starship, the Ghost, Onyo arrived and told them that the meeting with the informant had been a success.

The story of Onyo's meeting with the informant as well as Wren and Syndulla's involvement was told by the pirate queen Maz Kanata no earlier than 34 ABY. (Read more…)

Environmental Action Gazette

(Taken to CA by Wok142 on February 21, 2025)

"Would you tell me… if I was a reporter for the Environmental Action Gazette?"
"I thought that had shut down!"
"Just retooling, you can be part of the big relaunch."
―Hera Syndulla persuades Skelly to give her information by pretending to work for the Environmental Action Gazette
The Environmental Action Gazette was a HoloNet publication that dealt with environmental action reporting. The gazette managed to put a stop to a number of business practices that the demolitions expert Skelly considered bad by 11 BBY. Skelly came across the gazette several times while researching how the Galactic Empire's mining involvements on the moon Cynda were damaging its integrity, but did not consider himself part of the gazette's audience.

That year, the Twi'lek pilot Hera Syndulla convinced Skelly she was a reporter for the Environmental Action Gazette in an attempt to learn about Skelly's research. Although Skelly believed that the gazette had been shut down, Syndulla lied by claiming it was simply retooling and offered him the chance to be part of their relaunch. Syndulla succeeded in learning about Cynda's perilous position, and although Skelly soon realized she was not truly affiliated with the gazette, they later worked together to stop the Empire from destroying the moon.
