The Ministry for Antiquity, also known as the Ministry of Antiquities, as a ministry of the Galactic Empire that was active during the Imperial Era. Founded and overseen by Minister Veris Hydan, it was considered as one of the two most important government bureaus under the Imperial Ruling Council by Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine, the other being the Coalition for Progress. The ministry was tasked with finding and archiving the various artifacts important to Palpatine. The ministry was involved in an excavation of the Lothal Jedi Temple in an attempt to discover the World Between Worlds through a portal of the Mortis gods. Minister Hydan, a Mortisologist, was sent to the planet Lothal during the excavation of the temple[1] in 1 BBY.[3] Hydan would perish during the collapse of the temple's portal, and while the ministry continued to exist, it dissolved in the aftermath of the Battle of Endor and the first death of Emperor Palpatine.[1]
