"Spectre-6 to Ghost. Change of plans. We need a 44 scoop at the landing platform."
"On my way, Spectre-6."
―Ezra Bridger contacts Hera Syndulla, requesting a 44 scoop[1]

A 44 scoop was a tactic used by the Spectres rebel cell which involved a starship flying by a designated area to allow individuals to jump onto it and be recovered.[1] In 2 BBY,[2] after the Spectres freed the pirate Hondo Ohnaka from an Imperial prison on the planet Naraka, the mission leader, Ezra Bridger, contacted Hera Syndulla, who was piloting their ship, the Ghost, and requested a 44 scoop from the prison's landing platform, an alteration from their original escape plan. Once Bridger and his team, namely Garazeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, and Chopper, fought their way to the landing platform, Syndulla swooped in. Bridger, Orrelios, Wren, Chopper, and Ohnaka then leapt from the platform and onto the top of the Ghost before flying away.[1]

Behind the scenes

A 44 scoop first appeared in part one of the two-part episode Star Wars Rebels: Steps Into Shadow,[1] the premiere episode of the third season of the animated television series Star Wars Rebels which aired on September 24, 2016.[3] Prior to the episode's release, the tactic was first mentioned in an episode of the behind-the-scenes YouTube series The Star Wars Show on July 13 of that year,[4] and then first pictured in the season's trailer on July 16.[5] The term 44 scoop is a reference to the 22 pickup, another phrase used earlier in the series.[6]
