The Phases of Mortis
The Phases of Mortis was a solution to the Unsolved Theorem of Master Thorpe, a hyperspace plotting conundrum created by the Jedi Master Thorpe.[1] They shared their name with the ethereal realm of Mortis, the fulcrum of both the galaxy and the Force.[2] A hand-drawn diagram of the phases was later annotated by authors including Jedi Master Odan-Urr, before eventually being included in a book within Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's collection of sacred Jedi texts on the planet Ahch-To. The collection was later taken by the Jedi Rey[1] in 34 ABY.[3] The painting of the Mortis gods on[4] the planet[5] Lothal, which depicted[4] the Force wielders who occupied Mortis,[2] featured similar circular designs and coloration.[4] A book describing objects relating to galactic history contained an entry on the sacred Jedi texts, which depicted the Phases of Mortis.[6]
Behind the scenes
The Phases of Mortis were first mentioned in the 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, written by Pablo Hidalgo.[1]
