Dathomirian vs Dathomiri

Hey, Savage. I don't suppose you remember our discussion about "Dathomirian vs Dathomiri" we had on this talk page, but I've finally found evidence that "Dathomiri" is indeed a demonym and not a racial term.

  1. In Darth Plagueis, Darth Maul is referred to as "a male Zabrak, but not of the Iridonian sort; rather, a Dathomirian". Later in the book, Palpatine says: "I found such a one on Dathomir not a year ago. A male Dathomiri Zabrak infant." While the first occurrence is clearly a mention of species (a Dathomirian), the second one states Maul's origin.
  2. In Nightsaber, the word Dathomiri is used to qualify both the "Dathomiri Force witches" and the "Dathomiri underground."
  3. Much more conclusive, Fate of the Jedi: Backlash uses expressions such as "Dathomiri spaceport", "Dathomiri clans", "Dathomiri knife", "Dathomiri orbit" and "Dathomiri rain forest."

However, it should be noted that "Dathomirian" has been used inappropriately to qualifiy Humans living on Dathomir:

  1. Charal's old Databank entry listed her as a Human and a member of the "Dathomirian Nightsisters"
  2. I cannot check just now, but I believe Gethzerion too has been called a Dathomirian in some RPG sourcebooks, despite being established as Human in The Essential Guide to Characters.

This raises a specific problem on the identification of species when it comes to Dathomiri characters. For example, Tribeless Sha's article has her as a member of the Dathomirian species. However, Backlash simply says she is "a Dathomiri woman."

Now that we have more evidence, I'd like to hear your thought about this. --LelalMekha (talk) 15:27, November 20, 2012 (UTC)

  • Well, I wonder if we can simply cite The Essential Reader's Companion as evidence that the Singing Mountain Clan, at least, are Human. They're listed as such on the entry for The Courtship of Princess Leia. However, Gethzerion seems to have been retconned as a Dathomirian, since that's listed as her species on the same page. So, yes, I think the burden of proof would be on establishing a character as being of the Dathomirian species rather than simply being a Human from Dathomir (and hence a Dathomiri). ~SavageBOB sig 15:32, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
    • Moreover, The Essential Atlas states that Dathomir hosted only about 5,200 inhabitants, 97% of which were Human. That means the percentage of Dathomirians is definitely negligible, especially since most of them were massacred by Grievous. However, I wonder wheter Gethzerion was actually retconned as a Dathomirian of blood or if it's just another use of the term "Dathomirian" as a demonym—just like Charal. Asking Pablo Hidalgo would probably solve the mystery. --LelalMekha (talk) 15:38, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
      • That shouldn't be necessary; each book entry lists the principal characters with species in parentheses, so it's evident he intends her to be a Dathomirian by species. I'm away from the book at the moment, but I'll double check tonight just to make sure. ~SavageBOB sig 16:03, November 20, 2012 (UTC)
      • Here's exactly how the book writes their species in the "main characters" list for The Courtship of Princess Leia: "Teneniel Djo, Witch of Dathomir (human female); Gethzerion, Nightsister (Dathomirian female)" (p. 296). However, in the caption for the image on the next page, we get, "Aboard the ruins of the Chu'unthor, Luke Skywalker defends himself from attack by the Dathomirian warrior Teneniel Djo." So, I suppose, Dathomiri and Dathomirian are both demonyms, but Dathomirian is more likely to be a species identity, and Dathomiri is never a species name. ~SavageBOB sig 12:48, November 21, 2012 (UTC)
        • Thanks for the clarification. But why, oh why? Why on Earth did Pablo Hidlago feel compelled to make Gethzerion a Dathomirian? Darned Clone Wars steamroller... --LelalMekha (talk) 10:32, December 15, 2012 (UTC)

Nho'Apakk

Hello Bob, on Yodapedia Sompeetalay recently changed the Nho'Apakk article showing an image of him loading rocks onto a catapult, though I'm not sure if it's a film shot, or a production still. You can check the information here, and see if that can indeed be proven as Nho'Apakk. By the way, were you aware of that Blue Harvest behind the scenes photo where he was holding the movie slate? Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 17:27, November 22, 2012 (UTC)

  • Interesting. Thanks for alerting me! I've dropped a line on Sompeetalay's talk page to ask him about the identification. I'm a bit skeptical, since the Ewok in those pictures has striped fur, but the Nho'Apakk toy has fur that's all the same color. But maybe Som has some info I don't know about. ~SavageBOB sig 21:00, November 24, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Concept art

Thanks for pointing those articles out. The issue that I noticed with the Zilkin article specifically (it doesn't seem to apply to the other articles) is that the sources that I removed were concept art of something that became the Zilkin species design, not concept art of Zilkins. I would agree that the sources should be listed in the glurrg article, as they were concept art of that subject, but it's different for the Zilkin—the original design was created years before The Clone Wars created the Zilkin species, so anything that preceded its conception shouldn't be treated as a depiction of the species. A Bts note would be appropriate, I think, but I don't find that the concept art depictions should be listed in the Sources list unless they specifically depict Zilkins. Hope I'm being clear. Snoova

Hey Savagebob. I happened to be looking at the original barn burner page and saw the discussion related to Snoova apearing in Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and I thought I'd help out even though its already an FA. The bounty hunter unit for the Wookiees is Snoova's sprite, and he is a unit that can be placed in the games level editor. This will need to be put in the appearances list (With an nc template next to it) and maybe a small Bts mention. Commander Code-8 To say hi, press 42 01:07, December 22, 2012 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the heads-up! From what I remember from that discussion, the Wookiee bounty hunter unit is really a "generic" unit and is not supposed to represent Snoova as an individual, though. The ambiguity of the appearance is already discussed in the BTS of the article, but since it's not "really" him, we decided not to include it in the Appearances list. ~SavageBOB sig 15:53, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
    • Well there's still his appearance in the level editor which is really Snoova, and that is a real appearance of him, but its just non-canon. Commander Code-8 To say hi, press 42 02:15, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
      • What do you mean? I haven't played the game, so what distinguishes the Snoova version of the sprite from the Snoova look-a-like version? ~SavageBOB sig 06:26, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
        • The look-a-like version is just the sprite used for the bounty hunter created by the player in normal gameplay when using the Wookiees, but in the level editor, the player can put specific characters in their own levels that they can't use in normal gameplay, and Snoova is one of those characters. Both of these appearances are non-canon, as the scenario editor is non-canon and bounty hunters are not required to be created by the player in any of the canon Wookiee campaigns. Hope that clears it up. Commander Code-8 To say hi, press 42 07:21, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

Guineo question

Hello, I'm finally going to finish the Guineo article and would like to ask you a quick question. In your Draag article you mention the they had both male and female sexes. Can the same be said for the Guineo species? I know that the game said that the individuals in the game were male, but is that enough to establish that there were females as well? If so, can you give me the page number I can source it to? Thank you for your time.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 23:13, December 30, 2012 (UTC)

  • Hmm. As the dictionary definition of male requires the existence of female, I think it's probably safe to assume they have females even if no source explicitly mentions as such. Of course, you could always say something like, "The Guineo had at least one sex, male" or something like that if you don't think the female assumption is warranted. ~SavageBOB sig 16:02, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

Cite template

Hey SavageBob. I changed it because short stories aren't usually italicized, unlike Insider articles. Cheers. Stake black msg 00:03, January 6, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Slake. Actually, there are two separate issues here. The first is italics versus quotes. In 99% of style guides, neither magazine articles nor short stories are italicized. However, there have been Senate Hall threads on this for the Wook, and people have not come to consensus about whether we should italicize or use quotes here. That's why the InsiderCite template both italicizes and puts the article titles in quotes. The second issue is about the sub-content of the Clone Wars UK magazine. We use the template not only for the short comic included in each issue, but also for the (non-story) articles. In this regard, it's very much similar to the Insider. For that reason, the templates should match as well as possible. If you think that one should not have italics for the articles/stories, I'd argue that none of them should have italics for the articles/stories. In other words, I don't really mind one way or the other, but the two templates should match. ~SavageBOB sig 00:12, January 6, 2013 (UTC)
    • I see. Well, I don't feel strongly about this either, either way is fine. Cheers. Stake black msg 00:19, January 6, 2013 (UTC)

Dandelion warriors

Hey Savage. Today, I've decided to give the Dandelion warriors article some love, on a whim. I intend to expand and source it some more before nominating it some time in the future. However, I'm having two little problems that you may help resolve. First things first: when I started working on the article, the name "fftssfft" was written everywhere without capital letter. That seems fair enough, since the name was written like that in Castaways of Endor; however, I'm wondering whether a sentence may begin with a lower-case letter in proper, encyclopedic English. In French, it is an absolute rule that a sentence must begin with a cap, and I thought it was also the case in English. What say you?

And yet another thing: while the dandelion warriors from the TV episode To Save Deej seem to have blue stems (per the screenshot included in the dandelion article), the children book adaptation shows them as green. However, in the low-quality videos of the episode I've seen on YouTube, the dandelions' bodies look somewhat greenish. Is it possible that the colors of the DVD edition are somehow messed up? What do you think? --LelalMekha (talk) 22:20, January 6, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Lelal! That's great; I can't wait to read your expansion of the fftssfft article. To answer your questions: 1) Yes, there are very rare cases where a word can always be in lower case in English. The examples I have in mind are things that are normally treated as proper nouns, but which the entity in question has stated an explicit preference against capitalization. There is a writer named bell hooks, for example, who insists her name be written without capitals. This is decidedly not the case with the dandelion warriors! The second case would maybe be for transliteration of a language into English using a system in which capital and lowercase letters have some bearing on pronunciation. I can't think of any examples of this in the real world, but it could be a possibility. In the case of ffssfft, though, there are no capitals, so I doubt that's the situation. Rather, I'd just treat the word as a common noun, much like dog or duck, and capitalize it when it comes at the beginning of a sentence. Or does "Castaways of Endor" leave it uncapitalized even when it begins a sentence? If it does, we should follow its precedent...
  • As for the coloration of the warriors, I just checked the VHS version of the episode, and it, too, depicts them as blue-stemmed. What you can do is say they were blue in the article, but indicate the children's book disparity in the BTS, or else (my preferred solution), say that some were blue and some were green and assume that both sources are perfectly canonical depictions of dandelion warriors. Have fun with the article, and let me know if you have any more questions! ~SavageBOB sig 22:46, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Narrowing down the dating of "Star Tours: The Adventures Continue"

Hey Savage. Thanks to one of Weedle McHairybug's recent edits, I have new information on the exact dating of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. As you can hear on 1:45 of this video, the droid G2-9T says "Uh, is anyone here travelling to Yavin 4? Home of the secret Rebel base? Oops! Home of the previously secret rebel base..." Since the Rebels recovered the key to the Great Temple in the Yavin Vassilika in 1 BBY, then it means that the events of Star Tours II must take place between 1 and 0 BBY. I thought you might find that interesting. Cheers. --LelalMekha (talk) 22:28, January 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • Ah, interesting find! I think RX-24 may need a minor update. Thanks! ~SavageBOB sig 13:21, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
    • However, I see that the dating of 1 BBY for the events pf Underworld: The Yavin Vassilika is currently unsourced, so we may have to take it with a grain of salt. Do you know where that dating comes from? --LelalMekha (talk) 13:25, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
      • I had an edit conflict asking you that same thing! The New Essential Chronology is silent on the date of the founding. It may be speculation. Maybe I can start a KB thread about it. ~SavageBOB sig 13:26, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
      • OK, done: Forum:KB:Establishing the Rebel base on Yavin 4. ~SavageBOB sig 13:31, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
        • Good. On my part, I shall read Star Wars: Underworld again and see if I can dig up any clues. I do remember the comic book original introduction saying that "Star Wars: Underworld takes place shortly before Episode IV." However, "shortly before" does not help much... --LelalMekha (talk) 13:32, January 15, 2013 (UTC)
          • I guess I was following this page and didn't know it... For the record, since Star Tours 2 was narrowed down to 2 BBY-0 BBY, I have noted that since Ackbar appears as a Rebel agent, the ride must take place after his rescue, which has been dated at 1 BBY. Granted, there are other anachronisms in the ride -- battles involving lots of separatist ships, TF droid ships over Naboo, and an earlier battle on Hoth -- but Ackbar's inclusion is something to consider. But I'll also say that I thought Underworld was even closer to ANH, in 0 BBY. --JMM (talk) 13:53, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

Ob Khaddor in "Chronicles"

Hi SavageBob. If I remember correctly, you own a copy of Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels, right? I'm currently expanding Sheltay Retrac as much as I can, and I'd like to know in what respect and through which words the book "hints" that Ob Khaddor may have been her husband? I'm puzzled as to how a reference book may just "hint" rather than state. Additionally, Khaddor only died with the destruction of Alderaan. Therefore, if he was her father, Winter definitely was not an orphan. --LelalMekha (talk) 00:29, January 18, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hmm, interesting. Here's what the book says: "Sheltay Retrac (left) is the head of Organa's support staff and has served as aide to Bail Organa for two years. Recently returned from maternity leave, she left her infant daughter, Winter, in the care of her husband, an artist from the Killik regions." (p. 302). Sheltay Retrac is also possibly the hottest woman in Star Wars. ~SavageBOB sig 01:11, January 18, 2013 (UTC)
    • Is that all there is? If that's the case, I can't see a "hint" at all. Sounds more like mere speculation to me. Thank you anyway. :) --LelalMekha (talk) 01:13, January 18, 2013 (UTC)
      • That's it! There's no mention of Ob at all. I think someone heard "Killik" and "artist" and ran with it here. But it's speculative. ~SavageBOB sig 01:15, January 18, 2013 (UTC)
        • Completely speculative, indeed. Additionally, Khaddor may have been a major dissenter, but he was an urban dissenter. As for Retrac's husband, he lived in the Castle Lands, so he must have been a gentle cuckoolander that established his domicile in an ol' Killik hive-mound. --LelalMekha (talk) 01:23, January 18, 2013 (UTC)

Star Tours II even closer to A New Hope?

Hey SavageBob. I suppose you remember I'v been trying to narrow down the exact chronology of Star Tours II. It is now pretty clear that the events of the ride must happen after the liberation of Gial Ackbar and the acquisition of the key to the Massassi Station, which are both set in 1 BBY. However, there is a depiction of Imperials and Rebels fighting on Hoth during the ride, which seems problematic at first. I discovered there was a lesser-known "Battle of Hoth", which took place early in 0 BBY. This would set the events of Star Tours II in 35:3, which means very shortly before A New Hope. What do you think? --LelalMekha (talk) 00:46, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • I agree with you that it's probably 0 BBY. However, at this point, we have to be careful about stating that the battle in the game is indeed the lesser-known Battle of Hoth. It may be a third battle for all we know! :) But I think some reasoning such as that you've offered here would be useful on the Star Tours: The Adventures Continue page. ~SavageBOB sig 15:32, February 2, 2013 (UTC)

FAN page reviewing

Hey, Bob,

I'm writing this to you on behalf of the entire Inquisitorius. At our recent meeting, we discussed the current lack of non-INQs who are actively involved in reviewing on the FAN page, and we decided that the best solution was to simply appeal to people to review more. This first paragraph is being sent verbatim to a whole bunch of people, but the following one is being written specifically for you.

Let's get something straight here: You're one of the most active and talented reviewers that the FAN page has. So no, I'm not trying to say that you're not doing enough or not carrying your weight or anything. I'm just sending this message to everyone I can. :D The INQs are trying to breathe some life into the FAN page, and we'd love to have you keep doing what you're doing as a part of this revolution. And if you want to become an even more active reviewer --- like, super-active, or something --- that'd be awesome too! Cheers, and have a great day. Menkooroo (talk) 07:30, February 11, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, Bob, just noticed that this non-canon story was added to the Halloween article's appearances. Tocoyan

Hello Bob, as you worked on the Tocoyan article, just wanted to point out that I don't think there's any proof Neb Dulo was actually affiliated with Jabba, as he could have just been visiting the palace. Nothing from his card text indicates he was explicitly affiliated with Jabba. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 02:08, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • OK, cool. That shouldn't affect the Tocoyan article; it merely says he "joined the court of Jabba the Hutt," which being in the court is enough to establish. Luke joined the court, too, when he visited, for example. In this case, join is being used in the sense of "visited," or "was part of (even if temporarily)" rather than "became a permanent member of." ~SavageBOB sig 12:14, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Dromboid

Hey Savage. I just saw your message and checked Au temps de la Guerre des Étoiles. There's not much to say about Dromboid, but here it is: the French dub does not mention the system Amorphia, let alone the Amorphian beings and their power shortage. Instead, the woman's voice says the following (translated for you benefit): "This mini-transmitter benefits from the most recent technological advances and has been granted the Quality Label. It can be delivered the way you see it here or in a kit. The latter formula offers the double advantage of helping you familiarise with the device and of reducing the costs. An assembly instructions cassette has been provided by the manufacturer, and in either case, you are offered warranty. Our specialist will be happy to show you that the assembly of that kit is a child's play."

Another information, which is more revelant to Drmboid himself: the character was dubbed by Jacques Thébault, who used to be the official French voice of Steve McQueen. I have no formal proof of that, unfortunately, but that's definitely his voice. --LelalMekha (talk) 18:31, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

Niado Duegad's species

Hello Bob, most likely Niado Duegad was based off of a sculpt that never made the final cut of Return of the Jedi, but do you know if any source shows the sculpt for his species? Menkooroo brought up the possibility of being in Star Wars: Chronicles. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 07:04, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yep. He's in both The Art of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: Chronicles. I'm away for most of the day, but I'll give you the specifics tonight or tomorrow. There's some decent BTS information. :) ~SavageBOB sig 12:05, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
    • Anything new? Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 15:49, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
      • OK, sorry: I checked again and can't find him in The Art of ROTJ. However, he is in Chronicles. Here's the pertinent info: He was known as "Alien 18." He never made it past the maquette stage since he, like several other Jabba's Palace alien designs, was too difficult to realize as a puppet. Humanoid characters were much easier. The text also notes that it has "features similar to the dianoga trash monster." All this on p. 242. Hope this helps! ~SavageBOB sig 18:35, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
        • Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 19:43, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
          • Hello Bob, may I also a request for the info about Soth Petikkin and Bron Burs's maquettes? From talking to Sompeetalay previously, it was my understanding Soth was known as "Alien 25" and was possibly a concept for Jabba's aide. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 02:10, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Hey, Bob. Hanzo recently let me know that some of my Rodian articles might have incorrect sources. He suggested that you might be able to verify that. You can see more details here. Light side/dark side in TOR

I'm not sure how else to answer you (I can't figure out the talk page) but on the LS/DS argument for ToR you said you had yet to find a quest that had to DS or two LS conversation options at once. If you go full dark on the Imperial Agent's quest line and turn on the Eradicators, your next choice is to join with Jadus by betraying Watcher Two or betray him. betraying Watcher Two being the DS choice. There are TWO conversation options in which you betray Watcher Two. I did both by escaping and repeating the conversation. You gain an equal amount of DS points for both options. There is only one option (I didn't do it so I can't say for certain, but I'm assuming) to not betray Watcher Two, likely an LS choice. Sorry if this was the wrong place, but I couldn't figure out how to reply to you on the talk page.

--Kingsdaughter613 (talk) 04:12, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Kingsdaughter, what thread are you responding to? I think I get the gist of your point, but I'd like to avoid Agent spoilers since I've got one, and I'd like to move your conversation to the right thread so others can see it. ~SavageBOB sig 12:15, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

I saw your comment on the page you reach when you hit the 'community consensus' link. It says the debate there, over whether to make the Imperials DS or LS, is now archived but I'm not sure where the new argument is, if there is one.

--Kingsdaughter613 (talk) 13:36, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

  • Without getting into spoilers, do both of the dark side options in that instance grant the same number of dark side alignment gain? That might be a way to distinguish which one is "canon." ~SavageBOB sig 14:02, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Maybe? It was somewhere on that thread. --Kingsdaughter613 (talk) 14:17, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Oops. I was answering about the original thread. Yes, the two choices gave identical amounts of points. --Kingsdaughter613 (talk) 14:18, February 25, 2013 (UTC)

Naboo Elders

Hey SavageBob! I just posted something in the KB forum, and I believe you may have good insight in the matter judging by your focus on alien species. Please feel free to have a look. ;-) Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 12:19, February 26, 2013 (UTC)

  • Interesting. Unfortunately, I have no idea. I can check Chronicles, but that's the only source I can think of that may have anything to say about the matter. ~SavageBOB sig 13:03, February 27, 2013 (UTC)
    • If you ever have time to check Chronicles, that would appreciated. :) --LelalMekha (talk) 10:11, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
      • Ah, no problem! They are mentioned on p. 117: "The swamps are marked with half-buried stone heads. These relics are veiled in mystery; archeologists do not know if they are giant representations of a vanished race or massive icons devoted to their gods." There's also a picture of one of the heads in production. Looks like at least one of them was sculpted, rather than digital. There's also a shot of a Gungan on top of one of the heads using his macro binocular/farseein things. The caption reads, "A lone militiagung spots the approach of Naboo reinforcements." ~SavageBOB sig 13:55, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
        • Thank you! While it's not the manna I was hoping for, it's still useful to know to which extent they were mentioned in that book. :) --LelalMekha (talk) 13:59, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

Pre-GAN question

I plan to expand and nominate Unidentified Aurorient Express band conductor as a GAN, but I'm stuck. His species field was a victim of Dantescifi's species article sprees, and I'm not sure what to do with it. Possible species would be whatever Skeeter is, or even a fat Verpine. I'm banking more on Skeeter's species, due to the facial structure and the little guy's wings (hidden under his green vest). So, what do I do about that part? Trak Nar Ramble on 06:35, March 2, 2013 (UTC)

  • Ah, yes. We do need to revisit that issue on unknown species, don't we? If they were drawn by the same artist, I'd say that's proof enough they're supposed to be the same species. However, in this case, I think it's probably just coincidence. He's definitely not a Verpine. You could always leave species guesswork to the BTS, and mention that his species is undefined, but he looks almost identical to Skeeter. That's probably what I would do! ~SavageBOB sig 14:00, March 2, 2013 (UTC)
    • That's pretty much what I was thinking, aside from the Skeeter bit; to put that this guy's species was undefined. Though, since we're on the subject... I spent the article trying to avoid mentioning the guy's gender. I think it would be safe to assume that it's male, but since the gender can only be determined by the clothing, then I feel safer leaving it ambiguous. Made for some clunky-ass prose, though. So, should I go ahead and assume male, or leave it ambiguous? In the meantime, the Dantescifi stuff is going bye-bye. Trak Nar Ramble on 03:53, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
      • Hold on, Skeeter has six limbs, this guy only has four, plus the eyes look different, Skeeter's have pupils, this guys look more compound. --Eyrezer (talk) 09:55, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
        • I worded it as a "passing resemblance," but I could easily nix that entire paragraph. By the way, Skeeter is next on my list for GANs. Trak Nar Ramble on 09:57, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
          • Personally, I am still in favour of removing the reference to Skeeter. Good to hear he is next up, though! --Eyrezer (talk) 13:12, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
  • The reference to Skeeter has been nixed, and a while back, I had deleted those "unidentified" articles attached to this conductor, his bandmates, and the band itself. Now, though, I have another question... Throughout the article, I attempted to remain gender-neutral in my wording. Unfortunately, it comes off as redundant and clunky at times. Considering this fellow's attire and build, would it be safe to assume that he's a male, and word the article accordingly? Or should I keep my gender-neutral wording, no matter how repetitive is is? Trak Nar Ramble on 11:17, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
    • If he were a humanoid, it might be a different issue, but since he's insectoid, it's hard to tell. Lots of insectoids in Star Wars material have several genders, including neuter drones. I'd leave it ambiguous and use lots of synonyms, even if it leads to less-than-elegant wordings here and there. ~SavageBOB sig 11:29, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
  • Alright, one of my GAN objections is to make an article for the conductor's species. Is it notable enough? Do we have any other insectoids this guy could possibly be? Should I just make a no-nonsense article for this little guy? Trak Nar Ramble on 01:51, March 15, 2013 (UTC)
    • Yeah, since he doesn't seem to match Skeeter due to the arms issue, there's really no telling. Canon tends to play fast and loose with insectoid sentient species (as the Pera shows), but there's little harm in creating a bare-bones article for this guy's species, I suppose. He doesn't look particularly like anything else we know of, as far as I know. ~SavageBOB sig 12:40, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Queen Kylantha

Hello Bob. Don't you happen to know, by chance, if there's a source that states Kylantha had been Queen of Naboo for long at the time of Star Wars Galaxies? I'm asking this because, as it happens too often, her article says she was queen from 18 BBY, and yet no source is given. I just created this article, which raises a continuity conflict. --LelalMekha (talk) 12:34, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

  • Other than Galaxies itself or The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, I don't know of anything. Maybe search around for Galaxies info? Unfortunately, I never played the game, so sorry I can't be of much help. :/ ~SavageBOB sig 13:26, March 4, 2013 (UTC)
    • Nevermind, then. But I suppose you do own a copy of The New Essential Guide to Alien Species? I'm having trouble with Naboo-related articles, and some answers may lie within that book. You see, it's stated everywhere on the Wook that Naboo's monarchy became elective in 150 BBY, at the end of the Naboo-Gungan War and with the reign of Queen Yram. However, again, the sourcing and referencing in the articles is less than satisfying. I can't even find a single explicit mention of that so-called "Jafan Dynasty"... Could you have a look in your spare moments? LelalMekha (talk) 17:02, March 4, 2013 (UTC)

Jawas

Didn't want to risk turning the talk page into a lengthy discussion, so I'll post here. Hope you don't mind. My reasoning is that his backstory developed by Decipher does not mesh as well as the others already confirmed to be in Jabba's Palace onscreen at the time of RotJ. The number of Jawa's that Decipher created surrounding Jabba's Palace already exceeds the number of Jawa's actually seen onscreen during RotJ. I'm inclined to think that the Jawa on the left may actually be Kalit and the one on the right, Aved Luun as they are a mated pair. Also there is a deleted scene from RotJ that has two Jawas stamping on Luke's hands/pushing him back down with an ion blaster as he hangs from the grate in the floor after having jumped from the Rancor Pit. I think we need to confirm the total number of Jawa's present in Jabba's palace from Leland (or Pablo considering the work he's been doing over at the StarWars.com blog) and who is who exactly before applying the duck test. Also Decipher is notorious for misrepresenting characters with images of other characters. Rokkur Shen (talk) 14:02, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

  • That all sounds logical except for one thing: we can't necessarily assume that the Jawas on those two Decipher cards were present at Jabba's palace during the events of ROTJ, just that they were present at some point. In other words, there's no hard-and-fast rule that the Decipher cards must all represent folks present in Jabba's palace when Luke visits it. ~SavageBOB sig 16:14, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
  • Ok I decided to look into this and explain it in more depth. Herat and Aved Luun have been confirmed as appearing in RotJ by the StarWars.com databank and Kalit & Wittin by Who's Who in Jabba's Palace in Insider 60. The last Jawa was confirmed to be Snipp Nkik in the Rogues gallery in Insider 134 which also showed Herat. The odd one out is R'kik D'nec who has never even been associated with Jabba in any of the EU lore, aside from being included as a card in the Jabba's Palace set. All I'm really getting at is that R'kik D'nec's page is no longer "comprehensive" with Hanzo removing the image and my comment. Decipher obviously used the image of the Jawa from production photos and this should be noted on the R'kik D'nec page for it to be "comprehensive". As all the Jawas seen onscreen have been accounted for I'm now of the opinion that R'kik D'nec cannot be the same as the Jawa pictured on the left. The Jawa on the left must be either Herat, Kalit or Wittin. Snipp Nkik wears his bandolier over the opposite shoulder so it obviously is not him. Which means that Aved Luun must be the Jawa on the right as the same picture is used in her databank entry. Hope this makes sense. Rokkur Shen (talk) 03:04, March 7, 2013 (UTC)
    • Upon actually looking into the issue, I would agree that a note should indeed be made. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 03:27, March 7, 2013 (UTC)

Unidentified Tocoyan thug

Hello Bob, I notice in your Tocoyan FA, you refer to the Unidentified Tocoyan thug who Guri defeated as male, yet in that character's article, the gender is said to be unidentified. I assume that then saying the thug was male in the Tocoyan article was an error, but it could have been the opposite, so please fix whichever is in error. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 04:16, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • Good eye. I fixed Tocoyan, since the gender is unclear. The clothes suggest a male, but I suppose we can't be sure. ~SavageBOB sig 14:20, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Bron Burs in Chronicles

Hello Bob, does Star Wars: Chronicles show enough of the anatomy of the maquette for Bron Burs to prove his species are humanoid? I'd say almost certainly yes, but want to verify first. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 16:20, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • Actually, all it shows is the head and shoulders, so beyond that, we can't really say much about their anatomy. That head, however, is quite detailed and a lot can be written about it alone... ~SavageBOB sig 17:00, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Lonn Idd's repair station

Hi, I was wondering if you had any plans regarding the magnificient Lonn Idd's repair station or should I go ahead and try improve it to status by myself. If not, I prolly still would need your experise on the related material. (: – Tm_T@Wookieepedia:~$ 12:23, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Tm! Nope, I don't have any plans. I'm just going through all our Droids and Ewoks comic articles to update the images now that the Dark Horse Omnibus version is out. Until now, we've had to rely on scans of decades-old comic books, but now we can actually get some decent-quality images from these old stories. In other words, if you want to improve that article, go for it! And let me know if you need images of anything from the issue. ~SavageBOB sig 12:34, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

Preigo's Carnival

Hey SavageBob. A long time ago, in this galaxy, you sent me a BtS picture of Preigo's Traveling Aurore-class freighter with an inscription in Huttese. I just wanted to give you a follow-up analysis. From what I can see, the text definitely reads "Preigo's carnival" in English. However, only two letters come from the same alphabet used in SWTOR and Jedi Academy—the letters A and V, that is. Not that it helps... I find this quite depressing: I mean they actually made up a new alphabet instead of using the existing one. --LelalMekha (talk) 16:52, March 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • That is unfortunate. It doesn't surprise me, since this is Clone Wars we're talking about. Maybe it's Shell Huttese or some other alphabet that we don't now about... ~SavageBOB sig 17:23, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
    • I did, however, create an article on "Jabba's alphabet," which has only appeared in Star Wars Episode I: Racer, to my knowledge. As you can see, it was originally created for merchandising purposes back in 1997, and the entire mapping of that alphabet is known. --LelalMekha (talk) 17:34, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
  • Another update on that matter. I just discovered that picture in the trivia gallery of TCW episode Friends and Enemies. It seems that TCW artists did create their own Huttese alphabet, as the letters shown here are consistent with those shwon on the "Preigo's Carnival" vehicle. With those two pics and the translations they provide, we now know eighteen letters (A, C, D, E, G, H, I, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, Y). --LelalMekha (talk) 17:01, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
    • Oh, cool. Nice detective work! ~SavageBOB sig 17:07, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
      • I must add that, apparently, that alphabet has distinct lower and upper cases, which I personally find quite... impropable. Or too "Human from the modern Western world," if you know what I mean. --LelalMekha (talk) 18:00, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
  • And yet... This features the LucasArts/SWTOR alphabet! You've got to be kidding... I wonder if those markings are actually visible in the finished episode. --LelalMekha (talk) 14:41, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
    • Hmm. Well, it wouldn't surprise me that the Hutts would use multiple alphabets. Humans on earth certainly do! :P Maybe one of the alphabets is Evocii, or Nimbanese, or something. We need a sequel to "The Written Word: A Brief Introduction to the Writing Systems of Galactic Basic! ~SavageBOB sig 16:46, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
      • That definitely would be in order. To date, the only complete and canonical "Huttese" alphabet we know of is Eric Larson's "Jabba's alphabet," but it hasn't been used too often since its invention in 1997. Sadly, I doubt the kind of opportunities that gave birth to The Written Word will rise again. These were happier times for Star Wars scholars' contribution to canon. --LelalMekha (talk) 16:56, April 10, 2013 (UTC)

Image deletions

Just a note that when tagging an image for deletion on the basis of having been replaced by a higher quality version, please provide a link to the better version in the deletion tag. This is needed because the admins must verify that the replacement image is indeed higher quality. Without such a link, deletion is likely to be declined, as I have done with your recent tags. Thanks. —MJ— War Room 03:39, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

  • That's fine, but it's a very labor-intensive process to update these images. Basically, I'm going through all the Ewoks and Droids comics and cartoons. If I have to add links to the new versions, it's actually just easier to leave the replaced images unused and let them be deleted through Wookieepedia:WookieeProject Images. But that takes much longer. If that's the route I should take, that's fine, but I hope I am well-established enough that y'all will trust me that the scans from the Omnibus from Dark Horse will be better quality than scans of 30-year-old comic books... For what it's worth, the .jpg is being replaced by .png, so you can always find the inferior image by replacing the extension. ~SavageBOB sig 04:04, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
  • And upon rereading this after a night's sleep, it sounds kinda pissy. I apologize about that; I wasn't trying to be obtuse or difficult. :) And just to clarify: Is it preferable to use the {{Delete}} template, or to use {{Ifd|obsoleted by [[:File:whatever.png]]}}? Or both? I'm happy to adopt whatever works best from y'all's end. ~SavageBOB sig 11:08, March 21, 2013 (UTC)
    • No problem. As to the deletion template, either one works (but not both at once). {{Ifd}} is technically misused, as it's supposed to require listing the image on WP:IFD for a one-week discussion period, but no one does that and everyone else these days uses it for standard speedy deletion of images, so no one will complain if you do too. (I've been considering TCing both WP:IFD and {{Ifd}} for that reason for a while now, but that's a different discussion.) Basically, use whichever one you prefer; they both land the image in a deletion category and on my admin dashboard. :) —MJ— War Room 17:50, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Rebel troopers in BTM

Hello Bob, does Star Wars: Behind the Magic feature Cariso Smadis or Chad Hilse in any way beyond the script mentioning all the Rebel troopers? Chad Hilse was named by the CCG in 1995, so it's also possible it mentions his name, while Cariso Smadis was only named in the Visual Guides, so he would only be pictured if anything. Bron Burs' species

Hello Bob, while I'm maxed out on GANs right now, I've worked on satisfying all your objections to my failed (due to being too long) Bron Burs's species CAN. From looking at the article, do I really need to also include a "Society and Culture" section? I think that both "Biology and Appearance" and "History" are enough. • I'm fine with not including all sections, but in the past, people have required that the entire alien species layout guide be adhered to. The only optional section is "...in the galaxy." In other words, I won't object, but someone probably will. :) I think saying that some wore robes would be fine for a S&C section. ~SavageBOB sig 19:41, April 11, 2013 (UTC)
    • Added the section with the clothing. And I saw other articles that didn't include the S&C, but nonetheless have included based on what you said. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 03:41, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

Squab system

Hey Savage, all previous sources refer to it as the Squab system. Previous comments by Jason Fry imply that systems listed in the appendix of the atlas and online companion are simply for the ease of finding planets/systems and do not always reflect the "canon" in-universe system name as previously established. I'm simply following the example set by all the other system articles on the wook that still go by their original system names and not necessarily the system names as listed in the atlas appendix. Rokkur Shen (talk) 12:32, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey Savage..sorry for the delay. This isn't the full extent of what I know I have tucked away somewhere and funnily enough I think it may have been yourself who pointed me towards these to begin with. See: Forum:SH:The_Essential_Atlas_and_system_names & Forum:CT_Archive/Atlas_and_systems. Essentially from these & the links to comments/queries directed towards Jason Fry on the boards at theforce.net contained therein, I made the informed judgment that we were still treating system names printed exclusively in the atlas appendix as conjectural, unless they are identified specifically by name in another source. So I propose that in the case of the Squab system, "Skor system" should only be mentioned in the Behind the scenes section, rather than the main article itself, until "Skor system" is explicitly mentioned in an official published source. Systems that only appear in the appendix (lacking any other published name) for the sake of placing a particular planet should continue to have a conjecture tag placed on them until published in another source as previously voted in-favor-of in the aforementioned CT. What are your thoughts? Rokkur Shen (talk) 10:50, April 24, 2013 (UTC)
    • Ah, thanks for the pointer. I was completely unaware of that CT! ~SavageBOB sig 11:00, April 24, 2013 (UTC)

New Essential Guide to Alien Species

Hello Savage. I wondered if you could check a two things for me in The New Essential Guide to Alien Species.

  1. It's stated everywhere on the Wook that Naboo's monarchy became elective in 150 BBY, at the end of the Naboo-Gungan War and with the reign of Queen Yram. However, the sourcing and referencing is less than satisfying. I can't even find a single explicit mention of that so-called "Jafan Dynasty"...
  2. Is there any mention of the mysterious Elders in the entry pertaining to the Gungans?

If you could check any of these—or even preferably both :p—in your spare moments, that would be really helpful. Regards. --LelalMekha (talk) 15:31, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Lelal, no sweat. I just checked the book, and I don't see mentions of any of that. No Elders, no monarchy, nothing. Whoever sourced those things to the book must have misread it, unless I overlooked something. Sorry! ~SavageBOB sig 02:48, April 23, 2013 (UTC)

Ultimate Aliens Anthology

Hey Bob, would you mind checking the Ultimate Alien Anthology for information on Nullada, and Circumtore, if there is any? It would probably be in the Shell Hutts section, if there is one. • Hey, 501, no problem. "Nullada" is given as an example name for Hutts on p. 74. Other than that, there's no mention of Circumtore, or of Shell Hutts. Hope this helps! ~SavageBOB sig 02:59, April 26, 2013 (UTC)

Gilramos Libkath

Hey Savage. Whenever you can easily access Star Wars Chronicles: The Prequels, could you check for Gilramos Libkath? I'd like to know what that book says precisely about him. Thanks in advance. --LelalMekha (talk) 23:17, May 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • No problem. I don't see him mentioned at all, actually! ~SavageBOB sig 00:44, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
    • Ah. Now that's quite curious. Perhaps there is something about Gunray's aide (which was not Haako at the time)? At any rate, the Contract-Scribe article has Chronicles: The Prequels as its only source, and Libkath was said to be a Contract-Scribe. --LelalMekha (talk) 00:49, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
      • OK, in that case, I found him. He's on p. 195: "A loyal aide and contract-scribe ensures that Nute's lust for vengeance translates into an equitable agreement for the Trade Federation." ~SavageBOB sig 10:58, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

Episode I Racer Prima Guide

Hey, Savage! Judging by your answers pertaining to Nugtosh, it looks like you own a copy of Star Wars: Episode I Racer: Prima's Official Strategy Guide. I wanted to know if anything can be salvaged about the Order of Dai Bendu in that book. I'm desperately trying to expand the article. Cheers. --LelalMekha (talk) 12:04, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

  • There's this (again from the Prima guide) on p. 21: "An ancient Bendu tribal monastery high on Andobi Mountain serves as the starting point for the first three courses on this planet [Ando Prime]. Bendu Village has remained much the same for centuries. Far to the south, however, modern settlements have grown up in recent decades. The search for water sources for these cities led engineers to Andobi Mountain, where they constructed a giant pump station and pipeline to carry water south from its glaciers and lakes. Completing this massive civil project took many years and thousands of workers. For their entertainment, Podraces were, and still are, held annually along the access roads around the mountain." There's also this (same page): "Ten-Abu Donba is high priest of the ancient tribe of Bendu monks who live peacefully in the mountains, away from the bustling city. Three of the Podrace courses on this planet tear right through their village. In keeping with their nonconfrontational beliefs, howeve,r Ten-Abu Donba welcomes the visitors with open arms, hosting all the Podraces on the planet. Content with this harmony of monks and race fans, the tribe sells its crafts, tapestries, and, of course, its famous Anobi Mountian water at these events." ~SavageBOB sig 12:10, June 19, 2013 (UTC)

I am thinking about giving the species template a facelift, including introducing some subheadings as are found in most other infobox templates. Let me know what you think of this as a first cut. I have tried to group the fields in a logical fashion, using some seemingly relevant subheadings, although I am sure that you could think of more appropriate names. One downside is that sentience is no longer the very first field. --Eyrezer (talk) 03:47, June 27, 2013 (UTC)

  • I like it! One could make the argument that sentience is as much a biological feature as a behavioral one, so I think it might be worthwhile to move the sentience field to the top section. Other than that, I see no reason not to upgrade. ~SavageBOB sig 15:11, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
    • When it comes to infobox, do you consider that "Near-Human" to go in classification or distinctions? --Eyrezer (talk) 08:51, June 29, 2013 (UTC)
      • I usually put that under "classification." ~SavageBOB sig 21:09, July 1, 2013 (UTC)

Nosaurian Image

Hi SavageBob! I added a picture to the Nosaurian entry, but it got removed by User:JMAS. He thought there was no room for an additional picture and said it was over-crowding. It's a small picture, I don't think it's over-crowding. But he asked me to get your opinion since you nominated it for FA. My modification is located here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nosaurian?oldid=4541460 The picture is under "Society and Culture". What do you think?--Richterbelmont10 (talk) 04:12, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi, Richter! Thanks for the message. I think I agree with JMAS, though. Aside from the overcrowding issue, the big sticking point for me is that the image you added doesn't add anything to the article except some additional graphics. The image doesn't have anything to do with Nosaurian society or culture, so it would only really be appropriate for the "Biology and appearance" section. But there we already have a full-body image of a Nosaurian, so that's preferable to one that only shows the Nosaurian's head. I hope this makes sense. I don't mean to discourage you from contributing to Wookieepedia, but with images, we have to take these things into consideration. :) ~SavageBOB sig 21:51, July 5, 2013 (UTC)

Move help

Well, I can do, but I don't see why you want to move it. If the character was refered to by that name even at least once, then that name is surely canonical despite no further uses? I would equate it to the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station name - it's barely refered by later material (excepting the upcoming Haynes Manual) but we still consider it to be the "true" name. - Sir Cavalier of OneFarStar(Squadron channel) 09:02, August 19, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Species culture

When I was working on making the Society and Culture category less overpopulated, I came across the Culture by People category. Many of the categories were formatted differently: no description, having cultures species be a subcat, or the other way around. So, to keep everything the same, I looked at some of the oldest, and more prominent culture categories to see which way it was done for them; the species was a subcat of the culture. So, since this is how it was done first, and is more logical, I went through and standardized all the Culture by People categories. I'll use Squib as an example: the Squibs category is solely for members of the Squib species, while the Squib culture category is for everything related to Squib culture. The Squibs category should be a subcat of Squib culture, because each individual Squib is a part of that culture. Squib culture should not be a subcat of Squibs, because the Squibs category is specifically for the individual members of the Squib species, not the species as a whole. Hello, EduCorps member. This is a general message to you, as an EC member, regarding EC membership responsibilities. In accordance with recent site mandate, it is now the responsibility of all EC-exclusive members (EC members who are not otherwise also members of the Inq or AC) to maintain the Comprehensive article system by reviewing CANs and attending EC meetings. Art of RotJ

Hello Bob, IIRC you have a copy of The Art of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. I'm 99.999% sure the script mentions the Imperial dignitaries, and would thus be a source for the unidentified red-and-black-robed Imperial Advisor, whom I'm trying to get a comprehensive source list for. Can you check it out? Also if you have found Star Wars: Behind the Magic, can you also check that too? I certainly think they're all mentioned in the script there too, and am also wondering if we can see that guy pictured too. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 15:31, October 5, 2013 (UTC)

Bovorians

Hey Savage. I wanted your opinion on something there. As part of the Coordinates Challenge, I was intending to work on the Bovorian article for square O-13. However, I noticed a continuity mistake: their homeworld of Bovo Yagen was only christened so after being discovered by an Imperial explorer. However, in the old HoloNet News website, they were already called Bovorians at the time of the Separatist Crisis. Do you think it would be suitable for a status article to bear the "canon conflict" template? --LelalMekha (talk) 11:57, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hmm. I think you're right! There's obviously some sort of conflict there. I'd say use the template and explain what you said here in the BTS. ~SavageBOB sig 12:55, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

Quotetrans

Replying to the comment left in your undo edit for Ebe Endocott, would all quotes spoken in another language use the quotetrans? For example, Ebe's P&T quote is spoken in what we can assume to be Huttese (From Episode I Racer), but we are given basic/english subtitles without quotes. So, what do we do there? Normal quotes? Or the Translation quotes? --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 18:24, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yeah, we use Quotetrans if the quote has been translated from another language into Basic for our benefit. So, in the comic, we can tell the language spoken is not Basic because of the << and >> symbols. Thus, we use Quotetrans. We would use it for Jabba's dialogue from Return of the Jedi as well, unless we were displaying it in Huttese. So, in most cases, we use it if something has been translated for the reader or viewer's benefit, and not necessarily only if we are the ones translating something. In fact, it's almost never used in the latter type of situation. ~SavageBOB sig 19:02, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Re: Comic Book Resource images

Ah! You've raised a valid point there. I must shamefully confess that I didn't even consider the question before uploading them. :-$ How could we determine whether they're canon or not with certitude, though? Honestly, I think that as long as the characters don't do any particular action and look the way they do in the actual comic book, that should be ok, don't you think? --LelalMekha (talk) 22:13, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

  • Yes, there can be no harm in asking Giallongo, who seems to be very open. However, he might not even know it himself. Leland Chee might be able to give a definitive answer, but he's a busy man. (On a completely unrelated note, do you know if they intend to sell a digital version of that comic? Because I just can't wait to update Charal, Talisman of the Raven and Wistie... Without the comic, of course, I'm stuck.) --LelalMekha (talk) 23:22, October 14, 2013 (UTC)

Hi Savage, just a few questions. I was wondering if we should restore the references to the interview with Zack over on Newsrama.com in the appearance list...I can just see someone eventually questioning Renz, in particular, as fanon. Also, Lumat is mentioned as appearing in the interview but I can't identify him. Any ideas? Can you also point out Deej, Shodu & Winda on page 73? And finally, on page 10, any idea who the two Ewoks who brought Agluk before Chirpa are? Bo Shuda (talk) 02:59, October 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hi, Bo. I removed the references because they fit a pattern of articles on sources here: we source all appearances when the source is still unreleased (based on interviews and press releases), then we remove those footnotes once the source comes out and stands for itself. So, yeah, most of the refs I removed are probably not needed anymore since the source is out. But I see what you mean on Renz; his reference should probably be restored. One way we can duck test many of the Ewoks in the comic is via this image on Giallongo's Tumblr blog -- it shows his character designs for many of the characters. Using that as a basis, we can see that Shodu is the Ewok on the far right on p. 73. And Winda is the wokling. Lumat is another matter -- I actually can't find him, if he's supposed to look like the striped Ewok in that image. We may need to remove him from the "Appearances" and note in BTS that Giallongo said he'd appear, but he really doesn't. And Deej is the Ewok on p. 73 looking longingly at Wicket. I'm basing this on the hood design (particularly, the little bone fragment on the left, which matches the one in our portrait of Deej on our Deej Warrick page), on the eye color, and on the fur color. As for p. 10's Ewoks, one of them might be Romba, but I'm not really sure... ~SavageBOB sig 03:18, October 15, 2013 (UTC)
    • Thanks for the quick and detailed response! That image link you provided is fantastic. Thanks. I'm fairly certain it's not Romba. I think he can be seen, his back turned, purple hooded without a feather on page 26 next to Fufuneek who's wearing an orange hood. If that's the case they may have confused Romba's design with that of Machook. To my knowledge no Ewoks have had stones/gems attached to their hoods in other sources so we'll probably have to wait for confirmation as to who those two on page 10 actually are; along with whether Charal's conjured skeletons are the remains of Duloks or Sanyassans. Bo Shuda (talk) 03:48, October 15, 2013 (UTC)
      • This being said, I know I'm running the risk of being spoiled, but... Savage, what do you personally think of Charal's involvement in this tale? Does it fit, continuity-wise? Knowing that she resides with the Sanyassans and that they all have been there for 100 years, doesn't the latters' absence from the comic seem awkward? --LelalMekha (talk) 23:47, October 15, 2013 (UTC)
        • Maybe, maybe not -- there seems to have been a seismic shift in continuity such that the Ewok TV movies now seem to take place after ROTJ, not before. Unless I'm misunderstanding how continuity was before the comic, of course. ~SavageBOB sig 23:49, October 15, 2013 (UTC)
          • If the Ewok movies happen after ROTJ, there's a continuity error. In ROTJ junior novelization, Wicket remembers the Towanis and Charal when meeting Leia... --LelalMekha (talk) 23:56, October 15, 2013 (UTC)
            • Well, there's an 8-month gap between the depiction of Charal in the movie and the book's final coda (which is coterminous with Jedi), so there's still a chance the continuity hasn't shifted too much. It would be something like this: Ewoks cartoon and comics, Shadows of Endor (all but last 2 pages), Ewok TV movies, ROTJ/last 2 pages of Shadows of Endor. Does that sound feasible? ~SavageBOB sig 11:57, October 16, 2013 (UTC)

Adaptations

Hi Bob, I'm currently fiddling around with the idea of a navigation template for each SW film and am working from your exhaustive lists. I hope you don't mind if I've ported some of it over to the my template subpage's talk page just for the purposes of crossing things off. Thefourdotelipsis (talk) 23:05, October 15, 2013 (UTC)

  • Not at all! That's what it's there for. If there were some way to move it to WP space, I'd do it. My ideal is that others would add to it. ~SavageBOB sig 23:17, October 15, 2013 (UTC)

Endor timeline

Hello again! Just to let you know that I asked Zack Giallongo about the timeline of Shadows of Endor in relation to the rest of the Ewok material. Here is what he answered: "The two Ewok movies take place before ROTJ during the 8-month period between "Shadows of Endor" and "Return of the Jedi". So, the timeline can be seen as Shadows of Endor > Caravan of Courage > Battle for Endor > Return of the Jedi. Shadows of Endor also helps explain why we don't see the Duloks in the later stories. Hope that helps!" --LelalMekha (talk) 19:17, October 31, 2013 (UTC)

  • Cool! I figured it had to be something like that. Though, I'm a bit sad for the Duloks. I always just assumed they were a much smaller band than the Bright Tree Ewoks and that they stayed hidden during the Empire's reign on Endor. :( ~SavageBOB sig 12:01, November 1, 2013 (UTC)

Morag and the castaway Tulgah

Hey SavageBob! Since you're an expert in that matter, I'd like to ask you something about Morag. From what I see in her article, she was born on Endor around 200 BBY. However, the Tulgah article says she was a descendant of Tulgah colonists who arrived on the Forest Moon in 130 BBY. Any idea how to solve that contradiction? --LelalMekha (talk) 13:42, November 4, 2013 (UTC)

  • Interesting problem! Here's what I've been able to dig up: The "200 years old" comment in the Morag article seems to be based on this comment from Logray in Sunstar Versus Shadowstone (NOT The Cries of the Trees as the current article claims): "For 200 snows you've plagued us. How could I forget you!" This, of course, means Endor years, not standard years, so some mathematical conversion needs to happen here (and the Morag article is thus wrong). Our article on Morag also cites the Star Wars Encyclopedia for her being shriveled and stooped and being more than 200 years old. This seems to be an error; the encyclopedia mentions a "shriveled, stooped body" but it says nothing about that being an effect of age, and it says nothing of her age itself. For all we know, it seems to be a broader species trait of Tulgahs, judging by the other one we have a picture of. Then, "Castaways of Endor" says a ship with Tulgah colonists crash-landed on Endor c. 130 BBY, and that the Rebels were surprised to find their descendants on the moon during the Galactic Civil War. The implication is obviously that Morag is either part of this group or descended from them, but the article doesn't mention her explicitly. So, in sum, I think we first need to find out how many standard years are equivalent to 200 Endor years. If the numbers still don't add up, we can assume Morag was not part of that ship of Tulgah colonists and came to Endor some other way. This would not violate canon, since she's not mentioned as part of those colonists in "Castaways." ~SavageBOB sig 13:03, November 5, 2013 (UTC)
    • And to followup: Assuming my math is correct, 200 Endor years is 220.27 standard years. So, we have to assume either Logray is mistaken (unlikely) or that Morag was not associated with the Tulgah colony ship mentioned in "Castaways." ~SavageBOB sig 13:21, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Kal'Falnl's ship image?

Greetings, Wookieepedian.

Not that long ago, you made an exhaustive research about the Quor'sav alien species so you are probably knowledgeable about this subject. Kal'Falnl C'ndros's ship, Shelltooth, is a modified Gymnsor-3 freighter as specified in Secrets of the Sisar Run - albeit it's supposed to be a custom-built ship per Kal's Decipher card, Kal's Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia entry and Kal's Databank entry, thus not a "stock freighter with modifications" but a "ship built from scratch according to Kal's specifications" - but let's not delve on that and assume that Running the Sisar considers the Shelltooth to be a Gymnsor-3.

Now: I can see the silhouette of a Gymnsor-3 in Pirates and Privateers pg 58. I see the images in Running the Sisar and I'm looking for something similar, trying to identify the Shelltooth. The best thing I can find is the image in pg 33 of Secrets of the Sisar Run, by Marshal Andrews III. I think the ship in the top left corner of that image may be the Shelltooth. I'd like to ask if you, in your informed opinion, agree with my approach about the image.

Thank you for listening, --95.122.164.98 19:07, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

P.S.: About the sentence "The world (Uaua) fell within the domain of Darth Revan's Sith Empire from 1004 to 1000 BBY", I'm also confused. By 1004 BBY, Revan was long dead; this was the time of Kaan, Bane and other sith. Why did you say Revan in that line?

P.S.S: Damn, I logged out inadvertently. It's me, Farl.

  • Hey, Skippy! Nice to hear from you! I didn't take many notes on the Shelltooth when I did my research, but I checked over what you proposed, and I think I agree with your conclusions. I think the "custom-built" aspect is that she widened the corridors in the ship, which is probably enough to qualify as "custom-built." And I think that's a mistake on my part about Revan -- my Old Republic chronology is not that great. I think the proper conflict is the the New Sith Wars, but I'm not sure what faction to use. Any suggestions? ~SavageBOB sig 13:12, November 8, 2013 (UTC)
    • OK, let's take it one step at a time. Uno alla volta per carità, like we say. First of all, glad to talk you again. Secondly, thanks for the help on Shelltooth, I'll consider that matter to be closed. Now on the juicy subject: Who controls Uaua from 1004 to 1000 BBY. You base your information on page 133 of The Essential Atlas, which I studied in detail. The Sith ruling sect changed throughout the New Sith War, but the so-called New Sith Empire more or less stopped being c. 1,010 BBY because Kaan conquered it all and restructured it as the Brotherhood of Darkness, particularly per The Essential Guide to Warfare, page 44, right column; and the BoD will be the dominant Sith power until the Battle of Ruusan in 1000 BBY. Was it the only Sith power? Absolutely no: At least Darth Bane was an active Sith outside the BoD; theoretically, per my recent studies about the New Sith War (You know, tabletop RPG), many other Sith factions may exist. However, the map in Atlas page 133 refers unambiguously, per the accompanying text (pg 134), to Kaan's Sith armies, thus to the Brotherhood of Darkness. I would strongly suggest replacing "Revan's Sith Empire" with "[Kaan's or the] Brotherhood of Darkness". Of course, the safest option would be simply saying "the Sith", in general, which would also be true but maybe shier. In any case, I feel that the article on Quor'sav should be your domain. Hope I helped you, see you by e-mail. --Skippy Farlstendoiro (talk) 16:32, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

Dulok skeletons

Hey Savage, any plans on adding info about Charal raising the Dulok skeletons from the dead to the Dulok article? Bo Shuda (talk) 04:55, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • Hey, Bo. Yes, I still plan to expand the "History" section of Dulok. I've got the notes taken; I just need to do the update. It'll probably be in the next few days! ~SavageBOB sig 22:26, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Huttsbane

I don't quite understand your need to have reverted ALL of my edits on the Huttsbane (even though you did later revert back some of them). My edits made the article more accurate and more concise (not to mention a lot of it was actually copy editing).

Also the GameDS template looks considerably worse in the article than the header template I replaced it with considering that the text within the GameDS template is so short. I hope you will not object to me restoring my changes in full. --Gnarscien (talk) 22:07, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

I've made a minor correction to the 'Behind the scenes' section, which I think is what you were referring to when you meant it doesn't all add up in the game. Other than that, I see no good reason to revert the other edits. --Gnarscien (talk) 22:13, November 15, 2013 (UTC)
Look again at the history; I realized my error and then only partially reverted. The problem with the version of the page you've currently go up there is that you haven't used the proper templates to indicate that killing Huttsbane is the dark side option. We assume that's the canonical outcome, but we have to indicate it relies on the player's choice. ~SavageBOB sig 23:17, November 15, 2013 (UTC)
That's what the EmpireHeader template is for. That's what Grand Champion of the Great Hunt (Cold War) uses, and that's for an article on an entire class. I guess I don't understand the distinction of when GameDS should be used as opposed to EmpireHeader. In my opinion, GameDS only seems acceptable if there's a huge body of text between GameDS and GameOver templates (see Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic if you want to see what I mean). If you think that GameDS should be used over EmpireHeader, then feel free to change that, but I ask that the other edits remain as they are mostly improvements on accuracy and conciseness. --Gnarscien (talk) 23:33, November 15, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, the other changes are fine; my mistake on changing those, so sorry. It appears that the page for Template:EmpireHeader shows it's only supposed to be used for the eight character classes, so I guess that solves that dilemma. :) ~SavageBOB sig 14:28, November 16, 2013 (UTC)
Yep! No problem. --Gnarscien (talk) 15:16, November 16, 2013 (UTC)

Now that we know Trinto Duaba is in the Holiday Special, are there any missing stuff which depicts the character not added to the sources/appearances? I have seen only the Holiday Special and nothing else back when it was unknown if Trinto was that Stennes, who had his own article, but hope you can look into it. Pacithhip info

Hello Bob, the Pacithhip article is missing information relevant to Ketwol from the latter's Power of the Jedi figure. Just wanted to give you a heads-up. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 17:29, January 7, 2014 (UTC)

  • Hey, Hanzo. Can you be more specific? I drew information from that figure when writing the article, so what do you see that's missing? ~SavageBOB sig 18:52, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
    • The Adventures info, screenshot here. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 19:33, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
      • Ah, OK. In this case, I think I thought that info was very Ketwol-specific and didn't really say anything about the Pacithhip species as a whole. I've been taken to task for giving too much info on notable members of species before, after all. :) I think I still don't see that it's essential info. What do you think? ~SavageBOB sig 20:08, January 7, 2014 (UTC)
        • Fair enough. I wasn't quite sure as I have little experience with species articles, but I would believe that's fine to leave out. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 20:17, January 7, 2014 (UTC)

Regarding your question in the barn burner page

Hi SavageBob! Just saw your question regarding the creation of a "sperm" article, and it made me think of something. I've been willing to fix the reproduction article for a long time by now, but I'm lacking serious sources regarding the actual reproduction process. You said you got several sources that may pertain to that subject? (By the way, I think that the article should be called "sex" and not "reproduction," since it also includes "non-reproductive mating." Then again, I'm European, and differences in mentality may be involved here.) --LelalMekha (talk) 19:38, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

  • Hey, Lelal! The sources I mentioned are now listed on the sperm page, which Master Jonathan kindly allowed me to create. Revamping the reproduction page sounds like a great idea! I think it should be fine at that title, since you could cover both sexual and asexual methods of reproduction in the same article. I think of the sources I found, The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide might be very important; it seems to talk a lot about the reproduction of a lot of the species it features. ~SavageBOB sig 23:57, January 8, 2014 (UTC)

Also, while the topic we were gonna look at was Slide Paramita, I was wondering if a peek could also look for Navior, who is apparently listed on the insider's guide Wookieepedia (Holy shit, it forces me to spell that correctly) page. And you don't happen to have the art book by chance, do you? I swear to god Slide Paramita was the original incarnation of Mars Guo. The old (2001-era) databank has a preview shot of Guo's concept art, but the link is dead. THe preview however shows the character;s midsection, and it has Paramita's skinny body and outfit wings (except they're orange). Who could've guessed, huh? Anyways, mostly wondering if you got a chance at looking at the insider's guide or not. --Clonehunter(Report your W.M.D.) 03:50, January 12, 2014 (UTC)

Alien thermoregulation

Hey SavageBob! I was thinking of this: since Star Wars Science Adventures: Journey Across Planet X clearly defines the differences between endothermy and ectothermy, and since many guides describe the species they feature as warm- or cold-blooded, I was thinking that a "thermoregulation" item could be added to the species infobox. However, I don't think many people would be interested in implementing such a change, which is why I'm asking your opinion first. (In the mean time, I already created categories.) Cheers! --LelalMekha (talk) 11:51, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

  • Hey! Interesting find. I think whether a species is endo- or exothermic should be mentioned in the article if known, by all means. But I'm not sure it belongs in the infobox. I just can't think of many species for which this information is known. If it were a significant percentage, it would be worth looking into, though. ~SavageBOB sig 19:07, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
    • As you can see, each of the new categories I made already has 12 articles in it. Granted, it's not a lot, but I found them just by glancing through the articles we have as they're currently written. There could be many other mentions. You also have to admit there already are infobox parameters which, on the whole, are very seldom used. I'm thinking of the "mass" one, for example; this is the kind of information that many older guides never gave. --LelalMekha (talk) 19:11, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
      • Yeah, I searching for "cold-blooded" and "warm-blooded" within our site on Google yields many, many hits: [1], [2]. "Endothermic" yields a couple more: Iyra and Lamproid. A couple more thoughts, though: First, many species articles already note endo- and ectothermia in the "Distinctions" field. Second, because we note things like "mammal" in the "Class" field, the "Thermoregulation" field might be redundant for certain classes of creature. In other words, is this maybe something that is better left to "Distinctions" for species where thermoregulation can't be assumed from one of the other fields? ~SavageBOB sig 19:19, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
        • You're probably right. As long as the categories can stay, I should be happy with that anyway. ;-) To be precise, I was thinking of a specific infobox field just because sometimes, the thermoregulatin type of a species can't be deduced on its own. The GFFA has warm blooded reptiles, and let's not even speak of the reptavians. --LelalMekha (talk) 19:22, January 24, 2014 (UTC)
          • I agree. Maybe it could be placed within the "Class" field. So, for instance, if a species is a warm-blooded reptile, the "Class" field would say both "Reptile" and "Endotherm", perhaps as a bulleted list. ~SavageBOB sig 19:25, January 24, 2014 (UTC)

Hello Bob, I overlooked this as Kren Blista-Vanee was not my FA at the time I asked and you verified this guy was pictured in Star Wars: Behind the Magic, but as I have now become Kren's unofficial caretaker of sorts after a recent update, I noticed he was missing all the script sources in his source list. Before I actually add BtM to the list, I want to check if that also includes any images of him (I'm almost certain it does, but want to verify), to determine whether that would need an (Indirect mention only) tag. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 05:52, April 10, 2014 (UTC)

  • Nevermind, got it taken care of already. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 19:56, April 13, 2014 (UTC)

EC meeting time change

In order to allow time for the Inquisitorius meeting, I have worked out a compromise that moves the EduCorps meeting up to 6 PM ET. If you are unable to attend, please leave notes. Sorry for the confusion.--Exiled Jedi Oldrepublic crest (Greetings) 23:36, April 11, 2014 (UTC)
