Welcome to WookieeProject Astrography! We are a community project focused on improving Wookieepedia's articles on Star Wars locations in space, celestial bodies and other astronomical subjects, space maps, and objects depicted on those.
The ultimate aim of the project is to write up as many of such articles as possible and to bring them to Wookieepedia's article quality status, that is, make them Featured, Good, or Comprehensive articles, depending on how much official information there is on the subjects they're about.
To that end, we strive toward making it so that any and all astrographical articles follow the rules of these core Wookieepedia article policies: the Layout Guide (in particular note this section), the Manual of Style, and the Attribution and Sourcing policies, as well as comply with the Naming and Notability policies. There are also a few practices relevant to astrographical articles that are not at this time part of Wookieepedia's policies but should nevertheless be paid attention to.
How can you help?
- Jump right in and start expanding any of the incomplete articles in the project's scope, such as star systems, planets, stars, sectors, moons, space stations, asteroids, hyperspace routes, nebulae, and comets!
- New to editing? Check out Wookieepedia's Welcome, newcomers tutorial page, which includes links to helpful editing tutorials.
- Have any questions? Head to Wookieepedia's Discord server, which, among other things, has a dedicated
#astrographychannel; or, alternatively, reach out to any of the project's members, listed below.
- Mark articles as falling into the project's scope by heading to their talk pages and placing
{{WPASTtalk}}there! (Be sure to read this before you do, though.) - Review the current Astrography status article nominations listed below and help them reach Featured, Good, and Comprehensive article status!
- Peruse the project's coordinate challenge to write up at least one status article for each of the galaxy's map grid squares, for both the current Star Wars canon and Legends continuity! Browse this category, and perhaps you'll find an article that you can write up in order to contribute to the challenge!
