Wave I

IT is a time of great exploration. In an effort
to unite the galaxy, the Chancellors of the
Republic, working alongside the courageous
Jedi Knights, have dispatched
dozens of PATHFINDER TEAMS into the
farthest reaches of the Outer Rim.

But it is also a time of great uncertainty.
Communication is unreliable, and tall tales
of mysterious planets and monstrous
creatures abound. Prospectors and
pirates roam the frontier, and the
worlds of Eiram and E'ronoh are locked
in a FOREVER WAR.

And on the far-off planet of DALNA,
a new threat to the galaxy is
beginning to emerge….[7]

Wave II

There is conflict in the galaxy. Chaos on
the Pilgrim Moon of Jedha has resulted
in a devastating battle. In the aftermath,
the Jedi have learned of the involvement
of the seemingly benevolent group
THE PATH OF THE OPEN HAND in
violent interplanetary conspiracies.

With communications down, the leader
of the Path, THE MOTHER, races back
to the planet Dalna to make her
ultimate escape.

Little do the Jedi know, the Mother is
about to unleash mysterious nameless
creatures with the power to destroy
the Order once and for all….[8]

Development

During a YouTube livestream launching The High Republic project on January 4, 2021 Michael Siglain, the Director of Creative Franchise for Disney–Lucasfilm Press, announced that the series would be divided into three phases; with Phase II: Quest of the Jedi scheduled to be released between October 2022 and May 2023.^[6]

On January 4, 2022, on the eve of The High Republic's first anniversary, the five original High Republic authors Cavan Scott, Claudia Gray, Charles Soule, Daniel José Older and Justina Ireland once again united on an episode of Star Wars: The High Republic Show to discuss the last remaining projects of Phase I: Light of the Jedi (which ended on March 2 with the release of the final issue of Scott's Star Wars: The High Republic comic series and Soule's Eye of the Storm), and to divulge the first information about Phase II. Four new authors were announced as joining the initiative: Zoraida Córdova, George Mann, Tessa Gratton, and Lydia Kang. Other projects from the original five were also unveiled, such as Jose Older's new High Republic Adventures being the first new Dark Horse Comics series since 2015, Scott returning to a new The High Republic comic series, and Soule following his Eye of the Storm series with the origin story Star Wars: The High Republic — The Blade about Phase I character Porter Engle. The five authors also revealed that Phase II would be taking place 150 years prior to the events of Light of the Jedi.^[1]

The Young Adult novels included:

• Path of Deceit, by Tessa Gratton and Justina Ireland (October 4, 2022)
• Path of Vengeance, by Cavan Scott (May 2, 2023)

The junior novels included:

• Quest for the Hidden City, by George Mann (November 1, 2022)
• Quest for Planet X, by Tessa Gratton (April 5, 2023)

The series was released between October 2022 and May 2023.^[6]
