"The Broken Blade, it's like a blade but broken."
―Charles Soule[3]

Star Wars: The High Republic: The Broken Blade is an upcoming comic series featuring Jedi Porter Engle that will be published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project. The series was revealed in the fourth issue of Charles Soule's miniseries Star Wars: The High Republic — The Blade.

In 2023, Soule confirmed The Broken Blade was still in development and that he had had a discussion about the project on August 15 of that year.[4] However, on December 20 of that year, Soule stated that The Broken Blade would not release for sometime. Instead, Soule was putting his High Republic focus on his book The High Republic: Trials of the Jedi.[1] On April 27, 2024, Soule confirmed The Broken Blade was still "a long time" away, noting that his High Republic focus was affixed upon Trials of the Jedi.[5] He further stated that he did not even know if Engle would wield two lightsabers[6] as he had in The Blade[2] in The Broken Blade.[6] On March 13, 2025, Soule responded to a question from a fan, stating that since Trials of the Jedi was in to Lucasfilm The Broken Blade was "more likely than it's been." Further, Soule stated that he is still deciding how to tell the story, which will factor into when it gets told.[7] In an interview with Star Wars Explained, released on June 25, Soule affirmed that The Broken Blade was "floating out there somewhere,"[8] The Art of Star Wars: The High Republic: Volume II also confirmed that it was still an upcoming project,[9] as did Soule at New York Comic Con on October 11.[10]
