Tomio Ogata (born January 23) is a Japanese artist and author who wrote the script and created the art for The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Precedent, a 2023 volume of the Star Wars: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance manga series, published by Viz Media as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project. Daniel José Older, who wrote the volume's story, praised Ogata's contributions to the manga.

Tomio Ogata (Japanese: 尾方富生, Ogata Tomio) is a Japanese^[2] author and artist^[3] who was born on January 23.^[1] Ogata wrote the script and created the art for The High Republic: The Edge of Balance: Precedent, a part of the Star Wars: The High Republic: The Edge of Balance manga series, published by Viz Media^[3] on May 23, 2023, as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase II. The volume's story was written by Daniel José Older.^[6] Ogata also created concept art of characters for Precedent, including one piece in May 2022 of the volume's antagonist, the Harch Vol Garat.^[4] Ogata was first revealed to be working on the manga when concept art by the artist was shown at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim on May 26, 2022.^[7]

Older described Ogata and other individuals^[5] he^[8] worked with on the series as "dream-come-true-collaborators," whose contributions to story and art were thoughtful and creative.^[5] He also said it was "cool" to see the way that the dark and chaotic vibe to the volume played out in Ogata's art, and that the artist made the scene at the end of the story when the droid ZZ-10 attacks "something special."^[4]
