Plot summary
- "What I know, Master Yaddle, is that there are forces at work in the Galaxy who do not share the Jedi's reluctance to do what is necessary. And it will mean the end of the Jedi Order."
- ―Dooku, to Yaddle
On the planet Liskan, Jedi Master Yaddle and Jedi Knight Seera Longa have been dispatched to help mediate a trade dispute between the Trade Federation and the Gillanter Corporation. The two Jedi meet with Viceroy Nute Gunray and Quillan Zarro, discussing that the Corporation has violated several aspects of a contract with the Federation. The Viceroy explains that the Gillanter Corp had promised the Federation ten thousand shares of stock while they delivered one thousand, one hundred and thirty-eight Dynesium parcels, but the corp hasn't upheld their side of the bargain, and in response have withheld a Freighter from them. With the two sides unable to come to an agreement, the two Jedi discuss the situation, sensing that Gunray isn't being truthful with his claims.
Unable to discuss matters privately with the Viceroy, the Jedi instead infiltrate the shuttle. Slicing into the freighter, the Jedi search the cargo to discover that the corporation has been trading in illegal Rylothian Spice. The Jedi are discovered by Former Jedi Count Dooku, who is aiding the Trade Federation by safeguarding the freighter, believing that the Gillanter Corporation might attempt to recover the confiscated goods. The group is suddenly ambushed by a group of Wookiee, and begin to defeat them. While fighting, one of the attackers arms a Thermal Detonator, Seera Longa grabs Yaddle to protect her from the detonation. Following the blast, the two Jedi realize that the Wookiees have left with Dooku as captive. Seera is confused by the Wookiees who appeared like criminals, the two realize that the Gillanter Corporation is instead a criminal organisation with the company being a cover for their real goals. With Dooku captured, the Jedi decide they should find and rescue the Count.
Meanwhile, Dooku is held captive by a Wookiee named Lonkus. The Wookiee questions Dooku's assistance with the Federation, he reveals that he is in league with someone who needs the Trade Federation for something they are planning. Lonkus demands his companions to kill Dooku, he requests that he die honorably with a lightsaber in his hand, but unknown to them, he is already using the Force to summon his weapon. The Weapon pierces through a Wookiee and the Count frees himself from his bindings. Yaddle and Seera Longa arrive to aid the Fallen Jedi, helping to stop Lonkus' companions. Dooku faces Lonkus, decreeing that he promised the Wookiee would die, and he would fulfill that promise, however, Master Yaddle jumps in to prevent the Count from striking the Wookiee down. With Dooku saved, he leaves. Seera Longa senses that Yaddle regrets saving the Fallen Jedi, but dismisses such, stating that preserving life is never regretful.
