The Viceroy of the Trade Federation was the senior executive position of the Trade Federation conglomerate. The Sith Lord Darth Sidious manipulated Nute Gunray's rise to the position, that would allow the megacorporation's invasion of the planet Naboo[2] in the following year,[1] Gunray served as Viceroy of the Trade Federation during the invasion[4] and, despite facing several trials in the Supreme Court,[3] kept the title during the subsequent Clone Wars. The Viceroy was killed on Mustafar[5] in 19 BBY by Sidious' new apprentice, Darth Vader.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Viceroy of the Trade Federation title first appeared through Nute Gunray in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.[2]
