Plot summary
An unwelcome visitor
On Corellia, Sana Starros returns home from a long day to find her door ajar. Understanding it was tampered with, she charges in with her blaster ready, only to find Doctor Aphra.
When asked how she found her, Aphra admits to slicing databanks and stealing shipping records. She explains she is tracking an artifact—a path engine—that she believes passed through Corellia on a smuggler's ship. Aphra wants Starros to introduce her to Lady Proxima. Starros refuses and pushes Aphra outside.
A contract ends
Meanwhile, on the Acquisitor in Tagge Space, Just Lucky learns from Lapin that his contract is over, as Ronen Tagge is no longer alive.
A brother's debt
Lucky travels to the Crescent Royale Casino on Canto Bight, where he finds his brother, Pak, whose face is bruised. Pak explains that Wen Delphis is getting impatient and wants her money back. Lucky promises to take care of it.
Soon after, Lucky visits Wen Delphis, Leader of the Sixth Kin, in the Worker's District. Wen confirms Pak's debt is substantial. Lucky agrees to take a bounty job to clear his brother's debt.
The Den of the White Worms
Back on Corellia, Aphra waits outside Starros's home until morning. Starros finally appears, having agreed to the introduction just to get rid of Aphra.
They visit the Den of the White Worms, where Lady Proxima is outraged that Aphra would show her face. To barter for information, Aphra presents an ancient artifact: a Lengilese Life-Fasting Bracelet. Aphra shows Proxima a hologram of the path engine she is seeking.
Proxima reveals that a smuggler named Remy brought the artifact and sold it to a man named De'rruyet. She also warns them that the Unbroken Clan is asking about its whereabouts.
The Unbroken Clan investigates
Elsewhere, Vukorah of the Unbroken Clan is violently interrogating Remy. She learns that Remy was seen the previous day at the fish market with Sana Starros.
Escape from Corellia
Starros and Aphra, who are nearby, learn that Vukorah has Remy's datapad. Aphra creates a distraction by throwing a ring in their direction, which promptly explodes. Starros realizes the "priceless artifact" Aphra offered Proxima was actually a detonite ring.
Aphra and Starros flee to their ship at the Volt Cobra. Starros emphasizes they need to get off-planet, explaining that the Unbroken Clan is one of the most dangerous syndicates on Corellia. As they escape, Aphra attempts to slice Remy's datapad. She announces she has found something, telling Starros their next stop is a battlefield.
