"'The Force will provide' Master Elzar said, and it did. It provided me with a master who was brave. Powerful. Silent."
―Yarzion Vell, to Ordea[1]

In 229 BBY,[2] Jedi Master Kelnacca of the Jedi Order and his Padawan, Yarzion Vell, fought members of the Nihil pirates on[1] the Lol sector[3] astronomical object Vianax in the Nihil-controlled Occlusion Zone as part of the Order's conflict with the marauders. At one point during the skirmish, Vell used his lightsaber to deflect blaster shots from the Nihil while Kelnacca leapt over several of the pirates and attacked one upon landing. The Nihil suffered at least two casualties during the fighting.[1]

Following the battle, multiple children, including a human and an Elomin, watched as Kelnacca and Vell helped clear debris and make repairs.[1] Around 149 BBY,[4] when Vell was dying, he told his own Padawan, Ordea, about his training under Kelnacca and mentioned the skirmish while telling them about Kelnacca's bravery and powerfulness.[1]

Behind the scenes

The skirmish on Vianax appeared in a flashback in the one-shot comic The Acolyte - Kelnacca 1, written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Marika Cresta, and published by Marvel Comics[1] on September 4, 2024.[5] Before the comic's release, it was first pictured in a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube on July 25 of that year.[6]
