"Tooth and Claw" is a short story that was published in the 2020 anthology book From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back. It was written by Michael Kogge and focuses on Bossk.
Plot summary
The Trandoshan Bounty Hunter, Bossk, is chasing a mysterious figure called Chainbreaker, who has been rescuing Wookiee slaves from Imperial captivity. He has laid a trap for Chainbreaker, forging a transport manifest, claiming that a slave transport ship will travel to a specific sector, where Bossk actually waits in hiding in his ship, the Hound's Tooth.
As Chainbreakers' Wookiee ship, the Liswarr, emerges from hyperspace, Bossk receives a transmission from Imperial Lieutenant, Masil Veit, requesting his presence at a meeting aboard the Star Destroyer, Executor, but the end of the transmission - which includes the meeting co-ordinates - is cut off.
Bossk decides to go after Chainbreaker and hope to replay the message later. He slips into a vac-suit and spacewalks over to Chainbreakers' ship. He manages to break through into the airlock and board the ship. Moving stealthily, Bossk makes his way to the bridge, although he is forced to stun a number of Wookiees on the ship to avoid capture.
Upon arriving at the bridge, however, Bossk is stunned to find that Chainbreaker is, in fact a crippled female Trandoshan who introduces herself as Doshanalawook and claims to be Bossk's clutch-sister. Bossk as a newborn, had consumed his clutchmates in their eggs, but had not fully consumed Doshanalawook, who - she explains - was sent to Kashyyyk to be raised by the Wookiee female, Liswarr'arindoo.
Doshanalawook tries to convince Bossk that the war between Trandoshans and Wookiees has been manufactured long past and the many crimes Trandoshans believe Wookiees to be guilty of are nothing more than heresay, but Bossk is disinclined to believe her. Eventually, the Wookiees Bossk believed he had stunned earlier, including Rutallaroo, come to the bridge and aim their bowcaster rifles at him. Bossk agrees to a deal not to hunt Wookiee bounties in exchange for the whole Imperial message, which Doshanalawook had blocked as Bossk had left the Hound's Tooth.
Bossk returns to the Hound's Tooth with a disquieting concern about the truth of the war between his people and those of his greatest foe, Chewbacca, but resolves to meet with Darth Vader and discuss the bounty on Chewbacca and Han Solo.
