- "Now a relic of the period, mechno-chairs are a symbol of bygone grandeur, a pre-Clone Wars affectation from an amoral society that prized wealth above all else."
- ―A historical book
A mechno-chair[1] was a type of self-propelled chair that moved on a set of four articulated legs. Nute Gunray, Viceroy of the Trade Federation, used a mechno-chair to move around Theed Royal Palace during the Invasion of Naboo[2] and Senator Lott Dod, the Trade Federation's representative in the senate of the Galactic Republic, had a multitude of mechno-chairs in his palace on Cato Neimoidia.[3] They were also used to assist with mobility in retirement homes.[6] Thomas Toov used a mechno-chair for greater mobility whenever he left his stasis dome.[4]
Behind the scenes
Mechno-chairs first appeared in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the first installment of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.[2]
