- "Meaningless, unless you want to rule over a desolate wasteland."
- ―Doshanalawook, on Bossk's claim to Qotile's monarchy
Qotile was a desolate astronomical object ruled by a masked monarch[2] that was located in the Qotile system in the Colundra sector of the Outer Rim Territories, in grid square S-5 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Sometime prior to the Battle of Hoth, the bounty on this ruler's head was claimed by Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk, who then assumed the title of ruler of Qotile. He later used this episode as an example of his bounty hunting prowess to his sister Doshanalawook, alias "Chainbreaker", though she pointed out that, due to Qotile's barren landscape, Bossk's seizure of the monarchy was in vain.[3]
Behind the scenes
Qotile first originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where the Qotile system—and Bossk's association with it—was mentioned in the Star Wars (1977) 67 comic from 1982, written by David Michelinie.[4] The planet Qotile, whose surface was devastated by the Stark Hyperspace War, was first specifically mentioned in the Legends The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.[5] In canon, Qotile was first mentioned in "Tooth and Claw," a short story written by Michael Kogge and published in From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back in 2020.[3]
