A mission was undertaken on the Outer Rim planet of Mokivj during the Clone Wars. Republic Senator Padmé Amidala and Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, accompanied by Chiss Ascendancy Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo, sought to investigate and later neutralize a Separatist droid factory on Mokivj. Senior Captain Thrawn aided the Republic's personnel with their goal,[1] but his objective differed: he was in "Lesser Space" to learn about the Clone War and whether technology or nations in the galaxy may be able to aid the Chiss in their war against the Nikardun Destiny.[2]

During the mission, the humans and Chiss discovered that the Separatists were manufacturing[1] the C-B3 cortosis battle droid,[4] a a cortosis-armored model of B2-series super battle droids, on the planet, using cortosis sourced to the nearby cortosis mine. Padmé and Anakin resolved to prevent the Separatists from continuing to manufacture such fortified droids. Thrawn procured a deflector shield generator, which he termed a "Republic energy shield," for the Ascendancy.[1]

The mission concluded with a catastrophe. In an effort to collapse the Separatists' cortosis mine on Mokivj, Skywalker accidentally sent lava, ash, and smoke into the planet's best cropland and water. Skywalker did not account for the cortosis in the mine redirecting the heat of the explosions. As a result, the explosive force did more than merely collapse the mine's tunnels. It was sent down the planet's crust, triggering volcanic activity and leading to widespread devastation, deforestation, and desertification on Mokivj.[1]

Later, the mission to Mokivj was mentioned in a Clone Intelligence report describing the C-B3 cortosis battle droid, which was included in the survival compendium "Neyo's Almanac of Clankers." Rather than reflect[4] on Skywalker's role in triggering the devastation,[1] Clone Intelligence reported that the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet had devastated the planet.[4]

Behind the scenes

Star Wars - Das offizielle Magazin 118 states that the devastation on Mokivj was caused by the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet,[4] when it was actually caused by Anakin Skywalker.[1] As the magazine article represents in-universe information, this article assumes this is an in-universe mistake.
