Maintenance droid

Maintenance droids,^[1] also known as repair droids,^[2] mechanic droids,^[3] engineer droids,^[4] and utility robots,^[5] were droids designed to perform repair and general maintenance tasks.^[2] Models of repair droids included the WED Treadwell repair droid, the MSE-6 series repair droid,^[6] the DUM-series pit droid,^[2] the Otoga-222 maintenance droid,^[7] the K1-RF workbench droid,^[8] and the PIP droid.^[9]

One such droid had multiple limbs and operated a repulsortrain operated by the Pyke Syndicate on Tatooine.^[4]

R2-D2 was one of the astromech droids aboard a Naboo royal starship, was rewarded for emergency maintenance on the ship's deflector shields, and was the only repair droid to survive the task.^[10]

Maintenance droids of the Jedi Temple raked patterns into the gravel floors of the Room of a Thousand Fountains nightly to replace the ones obliterated by daily foot traffic.^[11]
