The J-type 327 Nubian royal starship was a starship model designed and built by Nubia Star Drives, Inc.. They used a sublight engine and a T-14 hyperdrive generator, also designed by Nubian Design Collective. The T-14 hyperdrive gave the J-type 327 Nubian a hyperdrive rating of 1.8.[1]
The Naboo Royal Starship used by Queen Padmé Amidala was technically a modified J-type 327 Nubian starship, due to the unique spaceframe being built around an imported Nubian sublight engine and T-14 hyperdrive. It therefore had to use J-type 327 Nubian parts.[1][5] During the Invasion of Naboo it transported Amidala, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. In the era of the Galactic Empire, Sith Lord Darth Vader came to own Amidala's starship after being given it by his Sith Master Darth Sidious.[8] Vader took it to Mustafar and deactivated the shields for atmospheric entry, scorching the body of the vessel. He then used it as a base of operations while creating his castle there.[7] The ship's hull was later returned to its pristine condition.[6]
