- "I had a dream I was a Jedi. I came back here and freed all the slaves."
- ―Anakin Skywalker
Anakin Skywalker dreamed of Padmé Amidala's death
Dreams were images, thoughts, and feelings, a phenomena experienced while a being was sleeping. Particularly disturbing dreams were known as nightmares. Force users sometimes had Force visions of the future during dreams, but the content and purpose of these were often poorly understood.
History
- "Dreams pass in time."
"I'd much rather dream about Padmé." - ―Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker
As a slave in Tatooine, Anakin Skywalker dreamed of becoming a Jedi.[1] About ten years later, though Obi-Wan Kenobi claimed dreams pass in time, Skywalker experienced emotionally powerful Force visions while he dreamed.[2] Shortly before the death of both his mother and wife, Anakin experienced visions of their deaths.[3] The inhibitor chips implanted in the clone troopers to force them to carry out Order 66[4] had the side effect of giving them indistinct nightmares about a never-ending "mission" relating to the command long before the chips were activated.[5] Around 9 BBY, Obi-Wan Kenobi had dreams of his former life as a Jedi while he was in exile in Tatooine.[6] In 5 BBY, Bix Caleen was interrogated and tortured by ISB Supervisor Dedra Meero and Doctor Gorst in the search for leads to Cassian Andor, though the doctor appeared in Caleen's nightmares and hallucinations in the couple years following her torture.[7][8][9]
