"We must leave, my child."
"No father! We can't!"
―Yesula's father and Yesula[1]

The child Yesula and her father were members of a sentient species. At some point no earlier than 227 BBY, multiple members of the species were present on the astronomical object Veek when the home of Yesula and her father caught fire. They were rescued by Jedi Master Kelnacca and his Padawan, Yarzion Vell. Once they escaped, Vell returned to the building to save their droid, Zeekay, whose databank had holos of Yesula's deceased mother.

Biology and appearance

A sentient species had two arms and two legs, with multiple fingers on their hands. They had teeth in the middle of their mouths and had two ears. Members of the species could have black eyes, black noses, and were covered in tan hair. They could have lighter patches of hair on their bodies, and they could also have longer black hair on their heads.[1]

Society and culture

Members of the species spoke Galactic Basic Standard.[1]

History

"Hush now,
Yesula."
"But
Zeekay is still in there."

Yesula's father carried her as the Jedi held back the flames.

The child Yesula and her father were members of the species who lived during the High Republic Era.[1] At some point no earlier than 227 BBY,[2] their home on the Outer Rim astronomical object Veek caught on fire. The two were rescued by Jedi Master Kelnacca and his Padawan, Yarzion Vell, who used the Force to protect them from the flames as Yesula was carried out of the building by her father. Two other members of the species also fled the building, and several others were present nearby and watched as it and the surrounding buildings burned.[1]

Once Yesula and her father escaped safely, the Jedi learned that their droid, Zeekay, was still inside. Although Yesula's father told them it did not matter, Yesula stated that Zeekay had holos of her deceased mother in his databank, and that losing the droid would be like losing her mother again. Vell then re-entered the burning building and rescued Zeekay, returning him to Yesula. Later, Yesula watched as Vell tattooed his own name on the head of Kelnacca, who wished to follow the tradition of his Padawan's home planet.[1] Around 149 BBY,[3] as Vell was dying, he mentioned Yesula and her father to his own Padawan, Ordea, while telling them about his training under Kelnacca.[1]

Behind the scenes

Yesula's species appeared in a flashback in the one-shot comic The Acolyte - Kelnacca 1, written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Marika Cresta,[1] and published by Marvel Comics on September 4, 2024.[4]
