"Go now! The Force will protect you from the flames!"
―Yarzion Vell, while rescuing Yesula and her father on Veek[3]

Veek was a terrestrial astronomical object in the Outer Rim. During the High Republic Era, it was inhabited by members of a sentient species, including the child Yesula and her father. At a point no earlier than 227 BBY, their home caught on fire and they were rescued by Jedi Master Kelnacca and his Padawan, Yarzion Vell. After they safely escaped, Vell returned to the burning building to rescue the droid Zeekay, who had holos of Yesula's deceased mother in his databanks. Kelnacca then knighted Vell for his actions.

Description

Veek was a terrestrial astronomical object[3] in the Veek system of the Weneen sector. Veek was part of the Outer Rim Territories[1] and New Territories,[2] and it lay in grid square N-6 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[1] Veek had a[3] Type I atmosphere[4] breathable by multiple species.[3]

History

"We must leave, my child."
"No father! We can't!"

Yarzion Vell returned Zeekay to Yesula.

During the High Republic Era, the child Yesula and her father lived on Veek.[3] At a point no earlier than 227 BBY,[5] multiple buildings on Veek, including the home of Yesula and her father, caught on fire. Jedi Master Kelnacca and his Padawan, Yarzion Vell, rescued them, using the Force to protect them and at least two other individuals from the flames. Although she protested, Yesula's father carried her out and they both safely escaped. After the Jedi exited the building, they learned from Yesula that the droid Zeekay was still inside. Although Yesula's father told the Jedi it did not matter, Yesula stated that Zeekay had holos of her deceased mother in his databanks. After hearing this, Vell returned to the burning building and rescued Zeekay, reuniting him with Yesula.[3]

Vell then apologized to his Master for rescuing the droid, but Kelnacca immediately knighted him. Afterward, in another structure on Veek, Vell tattooed his own name on Kelnacca's head, as the Jedi Master wished to follow a tradition of Vell's home planet.[3] Around 149 BBY,[6] as Vell was dying, he mentioned Veek to his own Padawan, Ordea, while telling them about his training under Kelnacca.[3]

Inhabitants

"That's it. They're safe, Master."
―Yarzion Vell, to Kelnacca, after rescuing several residents of Veek[3]

Members of a sentient species with tan hair covering their bodies, including Yesula and her father, lived on Veek.[3]

Locations

At least five buildings on Veek were cylindrical with conical roofs and were made from a flammable material. The buildings caught on fire[3] no earlier than 227 BBY.[5] Another structure, where Vell tattooed Kelnacca, was also located on Veek.[3]

Behind the scenes

Veek appeared in a flashback in the one-shot comic The Acolyte - Kelnacca 1, written by Cavan Scott, illustrated by Marika Cresta,[3] and published by Marvel Comics on September 4, 2024.[7]
