Re:OOU Layout Guide

Hey Menkooroo, thanks for telling me about your project. I've seen your ideas, and I think there are several good ones in them, but there are a few things I would like to suggest. I would like to point out that I am accustomed to writing smaller OOU articles, such as The Clone Wars web comics and some smaller Tales stories, so my main focus is to have a differentiation between the larger OOUs such as novels and comic series and the smaller OOUs like the ones I mentioned above. You and I both agree the plot summary should definitely be the first section following the introduction, but I'm not sure if it’s a good idea to leave the Conception and Development sections as separate sections, especially if one is writing a smaller OOU article. The only problem with this idea is that smaller OOU articles have very little information available in regards to how they were produced and conceived, so it would likely look better to combine the Conception and Development sections, at least in regards for smaller OOUs. Another thing that came to my attention while reader your proposition is the Main Characters section. In the past, smaller OOUs, especially the ones promoted to GA status don't have Main Character sections, because they are so small, having a Main Character section just seems a little redundant as it just repeats everything that was said in the Plot Summary. Also, there are some few OOUs that don't even have a single main character named, an example being the GA Hoth. I think Main Character sections are better suited for full comic or book series. Finally, as you realize, there are many different types of OOUs out there. I believe that some OOUs, such as films, television episodes, radio shows, or podcasts, must have a Cast section, similar to the one I put in my HoloNet News — Chancellor Palpatine's Approval Rating Falls nom. Also, the music OOUs MasterFred has been doing recently must have a Use section to tell where the music was used. An example would be in Fred’s current nom, General Grievous's Theme. I appreciate the fact you want to have my feedback and what you are doing. We both know we need an OOU layout guide, especially as more and more Users begin to nominate OOUs. We cannot continue to have OOU layouts decided during nominations, and have promoted OOUs that are widely different from each other. I would also like to see a few other users that are or have promoted OOUs in the past included into this conversation, maybe JangFett or MasterFred. Hopefully you actually read this thing and didn’t give up halfway through. Kilson 00:44, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

  • After reading over your response, I've decided that a Main Character section is most likely needed for any OOU article, no matter the size. However, there is one more thing I forgot to ask where in your new layout guide idea do you plan to put the Appearances section? I would assume you intend to put it after the Plot Summary section, as that is the consensus now-a-days. Also, I am currently in the process of going through all the OOU articles I have promoted, kept promoted, or am promoting right now, and revising them to fit this new format. This might take some time though. Kilson 00:00, March 11, 2011 (UTC)
    • I personally like having the Appearances section right after the Plot Summary. The reason I say this is because the Appearances is such a small section now because of the App function that manually reduces it, it is hardly noticeable, so it wouldn't really clutter the main body. I also like it this way since one of the main reasons a User visits an OOU article is to look up what exactly appeared in the OOU, so having the Apperances right after the Plot Summary will greatly help them. Kilson 01:13, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. My personal gut instinct is that the Main Characters section should be close to the Plot Summary, but I don't think I have any reason beyond my gut to say it, so I won't raise any objections. I might not be around to actually give a support vote, though; I'm going to be extremely limited in my availability these next couple months. jSarek 11:42, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

  • In the interest of responding to our original discussion regarding this, I think it would be easier for me to give feedback if you were able to write up a rough-draft layout like you had done the first time around. That way I could see what it would look like and then could give my take. Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir 22:40, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

Unidentified Sith trooper (catacombs)

Hey Menk, I'd like to suggest that you take Unidentified Sith trooper (catacombs) to GA status. If you give the article a one or two sentence intro and a P&T section, it'll easily make the 250 word count limit (it's already at 242). Basically, the fact that the article warrants a P&T is enough for me to call the article up for CA status review per the instructions, but it would be much easier for you to just take the article to the GAN (where it would be forced to go anywa once I called it up for review). What do you think? Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 20:48, March 10, 2011 (UTC)

  • Also, on the CAN, please make sure to format reviews properly (with a bolded heading led by a # symbol, and each objection listed afterward led by a #*) for ease of reading and page organization. Cheers, Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 22:31, March 10, 2011 (UTC)
    • For the formatting—no worries, I understand; just a friendly reminder. :) As for the article: it's not about making an article 250 words solely for the sake of making the article 250 words. It's about the fact that, when possible, all articles should always follow the layout guide. There's been an increasing trend in laziness when it comes to writing CAs recently, wherein articles that should be over 250 words are written with very intentional laziness so that they can just make CA status instead of having to go through the GAN; that's something that is neither desirable nor acceptable. The fact remains that any article that can reach nearly 250 words without being sectioned properly as per the layout guide could easily—and should easily—be written correctly per our policy. As such, if you won't section the Sith trooper article properly and put it on the GAN, I am going to have to put it up on the CA review page with this perfectly valid objection. Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 00:41, March 11, 2011 (UTC)
      • Hey Menk, if you have the time, would you mind coming into IRC so that we can discuss this further? Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 01:11, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

Quick question

I understand that your concern might be coming from the earlier concern about SW.com's online articles, but CN dataclips are legitimate sources. They offer random bits of information, sometimes even new information, in "data files" that are attached to videos. You might be able to view them if you use a proxy that's based in the US. Arkanians in Legacy 26

Hey, Menk. You seem to be quite familiar with the Legacy comic series, so I was wondering if you could weigh in on something. According to our article for Star Wars: Legacy 26: The Hidden Temple, Part 2, there are Arkanians in the book. I'm assuming whoever added that species to the article's appearance list was assuming the pale-skinned, pointy-eared, pupilless folks are Arkanians. The problem is that they don't match the appearance of either the mainline Arkanians or the Offshoots, since they have five fingers and pale skin (like the Offshoots), and pupilless eyes (like the mainlines). They also have pointy ears like Jarael, but she had those due to Sephi DNA spliced into her by Demagol. So, are they anywhere explicitly ID'ed as Arkanians? I can't find it in the comic itself, but I could be overlooking something. As I expand the Arkanian article, I may have to mention them only in the BTS since duck test doesn't quite apply due to the discrepancies I mentioned here. Thanks for your help! ~ SavageBob 05:20, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hey there! There's no explicit confirmation in the comic that they're Arkanians, and it doesn't seem like we got any VIP confirmation in either the Jedi Council Forums thread or the Dark Horse boards thread. I think you're right in that the discrepancies are enough for a bts mention (like the dude with sunglasses in the Red Nebula species article) but probably nothing more without speculation. For what it's worth, there's some disagreement in the JC Forums thread --- some posters were like "Nah, they're probably Nagai or something." Menkooroo 06:44, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
    • Cool, thanks for the help! Relegated to BTS they shall be! ~ SavageBob 16:44, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Hey Menkooroo, I hate to ask this of you, but could you review my HoloNet News — Chancellor Palpatine's Approval Rating Falls GA nom. It just needs one more User to support it, and it has been sitting like that for four days now. Since you have the most experience with OOUs, I thought you should review it. RE:removing links

Thought it would be nicer to remove them, personally I do not feel it looks good when the ratio of hyperlinked words to non-hyperlinked words is kind of high, especially when such articles in question are actually stubs, like those mentioned. Differences in opinion, perhaps I shall remove them only if it gets ridiculous (i hope it never comes to that!). Thanks for the welcome! :) Songjin 02:48, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

Adventures!

(That word just needs an exclamation mark.) I was pretty sure the "are adventures sources or appearances?" debate had already occurred, so I snooped around. I can't find an actual debate page (a SH or CT), but if I do, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I did find that our Layout Guide already stipulates that adventures are considered appearances: "Bulleted list of films, novels, comics, cartoons, roleplaying adventures, and computer games that the subject has appeared in" (from Wookieepedia:Layout_Guide#Appearances). And it's my understanding that this specifically applies to adventures (as opposed to source material), adventure seeds, short fiction within sourcebooks, and campaigns, rather than books like Alien Encounters, which is nothing but background material. At any rate, this isn't a nanny-nanny-boo-boo post by any means; it may be something that needs further clarification in a CT or SH or something. I just wanted to explain where I was coming from. I'm unclear why Tope is considering this particular scenario a source instead, but hopefully someone can explain on the nom page. Excelsior! ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 21:14, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

  • Good find in the layout guide. Let me chew on this one for a while. I can't really think of what else "roleplaying adventure" would entail... hmm.... Menkooroo 04:10, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

I did my homework this time and could I write about Ralrracheen, he wasnt on the list so I want to verify its okay Darth Needham 22:41, April 20, 2011 (UTC)

  • I don't intend to cut out Menk, but I don't think he's online right now so I'll help you out—you are free to select and work on any Wookiee article you would like to, so long as it isn't already a Featured Article, Good Article, or Comprehensive Article (as these are already considered to be "done"). So yes, Ralrracheen (who is on the list, under "Misc. Wookiees that would be fun FA projects") is an available article. However, I would caution you to only take on an article that you truly think you can improve. Ralrracheen has quite a few appearances in some large novels, and the article will end up being pretty large if done correctly. If you are either unfamiliar with all of Ralrracheen's appearances or do not have access to the works in which he appears, I might suggest that you try another Wook with less content. Menk's done a great job in providing a list of Wookiees with only one or two appearances/sources to their name on the project page, so that's a great place to start looking. Good luck! Re: Raith Sienar

Hey Menkooroo! Well, I just noticed some details that were missing. In the "Company man" section, there are several missing links, like "asteroid", "assassin droid" (which has its own article at "Ugly" assassin droid) and "battle droids" (Kol Huro combat droid). About the latter, I believe it should be noted that Sienar "smuggled them past Republic customs ten years ago", as stated in the novel. Pretty minor additions, actually. Sinister Wookiees

Yo. Few things: Rorworr (Naboo) was delayed from an April 1st airdate to May 20th, so it's cool if you want to get someone to delay it again and be part of Wookiee Week, if there is going to be one. Kerrithrarr has been put on indefinite hold, as I don't really want to write a P&T or get mycontext more consistent, right now. If someone was to hit up Frorral, do you think every mention of Page's commandos would need inclusion? Multisource RPG characters are kinda awkward to write. (I'm still considering adding the Tempest Feud adventure to Rorworr, since I learned he was on the cover). SinisterSamurai 01:46, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hey there! One very important thing I learned about Page's Commandos when I was writing Page last year is that it's actually pretty common for only small detachments of the group to go on a mission. In The Saga Begins, for example, Page only takes a few of his team with him, and in Gottu and His Vibroaxe, Page himself isn't even on the mission. So for Frorral, a mission wouldn't need inclusion unless the Wookiee was explicitly confirmed to be there. Menkooroo 02:25, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

A question

Hello Menkooroo, considering how you've supported several of my CA and GA noms in the past, and also answered a similar question about Maer and Airten, I have a question about a couple of my current projects, Alain (Human) and Precht. Is there any proof that either of them fought the 501st during the Devastator's takeover during the beginning of ANH? The CSWE does not explicitly mention that, however their photos do seemingly show them in battle, or at the very least, aiming their weapons. When I make the CA noms, should I write that they took part in that battle with the 501st, or is that too speculative, and I should simply say they were part of the Tantive IV's crew by 0 BBY? Hanzo Hasashi 18:58, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Itchy

Hey, Menk. Based on your work on Lumpawaroo, I'm guessing you got a good handle on what sources mention Attichitcuk as well. Did you update his article with sources you found as you were working through Lumpy's? I'm toying with the idea of writing Itchy up for the barn-burner, but I'm curious what I'd be getting myself into. :) ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 04:50, May 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hey there! I've just gone and updated his source list now. It's as complete as I'll be able to make it. Some notes: The Essential Chronology mentions Lumpy in the context of the rescue mission to the Koornacht Cluster, and as far as I know doesn't mention Itchy at all. The New Essential Chronology has been listed in Itchy's sources list for a while, so maybe it mentions something about one of the early battles for Kashyyyk that take place pre-The Phantom Menace in Galactic Battlegrounds. Not sure. I have the second edition of A Guide to the Star Wars Universe at home in Canada, and I extensively checked it when I was home in January but I couldn't find anything anywhere on any member of Chewie's family. I think Culator and/or Cav can help you out with the first edition. Complete Locations is listed in his source list, so I assume that Inside the Worlds of Episode III should be there by extension. I have all of the Insider articles if you need info from them, save for Wasaka Berries and Monster Ships. Axinal gave me a lot of info on Lumpy from it, but there might be a little bit more on Itchy. Probably not. Let me give you what I have before you ask him. The Art of Revenge of the Sith seems to be a three-article series from three different Insider issues, so it might be tricky to track all three down and figure out which one mentions him.

As far as actual appearances go, I think that Galactic Battlegrounds, Star Wars: Chewbacca 1, and the Holiday Special are the only Itchy ones with a lot of meat in them. In Tyrant's Test, Rebel Dawn, The Wookiee Storybook, and in The New Jedi Order, he's always just kind of lurking in the background. Youtube walkthroughs would be your best bet for Battlegrounds. Let me know if you need any sources at all; I'm well-versed in Chewie's family thanks to the Lump. :) Menkooroo 04:33, May 10, 2011 (UTC)
    • Sweet, thanks for the insight! I think I may do him at a later time; I want to do an FA Wook for the barn-burner, but I think Itchy may entail more effort than I can devote at the moment. I'm tempted to do Merumeru but I think it'd be ideal if each of the "Welcome to Wookieepedia" dudes was done by someone different. I'm thinking maybe Snoova instead, but who knows. At any rate, someone should do Itchy eventually! ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 03:56, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

Re: User talk: Xd1358

Hey. I saw your message on Xd1358's talk page and spotted the problem immediately. The problem wasn't with the template, but rather your usage of it. You were using the old |nqx= parameter, which isn't used by the template anymore. Instead, use |linex=no to eliminate the quote marks and italics (the same thing that was accomplished by the old nqx parameter), or |linex=trans to automatically replace the regular quotation marks with translation marks. Hope that helps. :) Master JonathanJedi Council Chambers Sunday, May 22, 2011, 05:07 UTC

Fel Empire

Alright then, but why don't you revert the other updates to the Galactic Alliance page, Second Imperial Civil War, etc.? If the "Galactic Federation" is an entirely new entity, then shouldn't it have its own page instead of being referred to as the "reconstituted" Galactic Alliance? After all, you said that the new Galactic Government is not the GFFA.JRT2010 15:10, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

  • I assumed that the "Galactic Federation" was just the Galactic Alliance restored back to its former glory, mainly because of the GA's official name (Galactic Federation of Free Alliances), but also because that's how others seemed to interpret it. But if it was the Galactic Alliance, then the writers would have probably just called it that. I'm still not completely sure if the Federation is something entirely new, but you make a good point. One thing that bothers me though is the fact that Marasiah Fel was referred to as "Empress." That's also why I thought that the Fel Empire was restored, and likewise the Galactic Alliance as well. If the remnants of both the Empire and the Alliance have been combined into the Galactic Federation, then what exactly is Marasiah the Empress of?JRT2010 18:08, May 28, 2011 (UTC)

CAN archiving request

Hello Menkooroo, although I know anybody can archive a CAN, SavageBob messaged me in March telling me it is not encouraged for users to archive their own noms. That said, can you archive the following noms : Precht, Nala Hetsime, Ururur? Yesterday, I was okay with them being one day late after enough votes and no outstanding objections, but now after two days it has just sort of bothered me. Thanks. Wookiee barnburner issues

Hey Menk, it seems the barn-burner was too successful! MJ's template, which we use to display the articles passed by the barn-burner, can only display up to 32 articles, but the barn-burner's 33rd article just passed, Unidentified Wookiee mercenary (Aurodium Sword). If you try entering that article into the template, you get an error message. Someone will likely need to restructure the page, so I contacted you because you're the head of the project. Any ideas? Kilson(Let's have a chat) 02:49, May 30, 2011 (UTC)

  • I've expanded the template to take an 15 additional articles. If the CSS for columns ever becomes supported by all major browsers (*coughInternetcoughExplorercough*), I could set up the template to take a nearly unlimited number of articles (which would also have the useful side effects of removing the white borders around the table cells and de-bloating the template code), but until then, we're stuck with table formatting and a limited number of articles. At any rate, the template can now take 47 articles with a category link or 48 without. Don't hesitate to drop a note on my talk page if you need more than that; the process of expanding the template is fairly simple for someone (like me) that understands the code. Orlopp!

Hey, Menk. I'm working on the Jenet article, and I had a quick question for you. In the novel Tempest, is Orlopp allied with the GFFA or is he an enemy? Sounds like he works for Caedus, so that makes him an enemy right? But his article here says he's with the Alliance. My novel EU knowledge gets quite then as soon as the Yuuzhan Vong stuff starts, but I know you're a bit more up to speed. Thanks for your help! ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 01:02, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

  • Yeah, that makes sense! I was confused, and you clarified things. In the article, when I mention Orlopp's job as the son of Solo's assistant, do you think it's more appropriate to refer to the Human as Jacen Solo or Darth Caedus? Since Orlopp's position is officially something related to the GFFA, it should be Jacen Solo, right? ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 01:55, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
    • Crap, I forgot that I was supposed to reply here. Sorry. Jacen is still publicly known as Jacen Solo in Tempest and Inferno, but he's Darth Caedus in Invincible, which takes place after he reveals his identity as a Sith Lord to the public. Also, a quick question for you: Is there anything on Weazel in Chronicles: The Prequels? Menkooroo 02:24, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Re:Insider 62

Hey Menk, here's what I found:

On the third page of "Return to Endor", which is page 48, paragraph 2: "Davis has become a Star Wars icon, playing thre roles in The Phantom Menace." In the next paragraph, after describing how Davis acquired his role as Wicket: "Since then, nearly all characters he has played for Lucasfilm have begun with "W," including Weazel and Wald in The Phantom Menace, and Willow in Ron Howard's fantasy film of the same name. The Ewok Adventure continued this trend, giving wicket three siblings: Widdle, Weechee, and Winda; a fourth sibling, Willy, was added for the Ewoks cartoon. "I made a big list of names that begin with W," Davis joked, "and submitted it to George so he's always got inspiration for future characters for me."" So Weazel is mentioned directly, and while it isn't clear whether or not his name came from that list given to Lucas by Davis, the character's name is at least somehow related with the W trend. Hope this helps, and please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Cheers!—Axinal Convocation Chamber 21:40, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Friggin' Hardwick!

Hey, Menk, check out my last edit to Clantaani: here. I thought about it, and Hardwikk's capture needs to go between the templates, I think, because the scenario is assuming he is captured (the more lucrative outcome) rather than killed. In other words, from CSWE, we know Fett got a bounty on him, but per our game mechanics policy, we are supposed to assume it was the best scenario for the player that went down, which, in this case, is a capture rather than a kill. Hence putting him back in the template. I tried to clarify this in the BTS. Take a look, and let me know if it needs more tweaking or needs to be reverted to the older version. I swear I'm not just trying to be a butt about this! :) ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 05:40, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • If the CSWE confirms that Jango captures him, then that info should appear in the bio and outside of the gamemechanics template in some form. Keeping the best scenario inside the gamemechanics template is fine, but if something is definite canon, it needs to be presented as definite canon instead of maybe canon. Menkooroo 05:44, June 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • CSWE confirms that Jango Fett got the bounty on him, but it doesn't mention whether this was the dead or alive version of the bounty. That's where the game mechanics are needed. I honestly don't think it's worth it to have the line, "Jango Fett subdued Hardwikk [game mechanics] by capturing him [game mechanics] and then..." Instead, I think the BTS note is sufficient. There are examples of canon stuff being in game mechanics template; the template merely indicates that things went down the "best" way possible. But let me know if you really want the bit about Hardwikk's bounty being claimed outside the template, and I'll see what I can do. ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 05:52, June 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • I went ahead and did it to not go against the FAN result. I strongly prefer it the other way and think it would be fine with the explanatory BTS note, but I'm cool with it how it is. Think it over, and leave it or change it back as you see fit. At any rate, I really do appreciate your review and patience as we talked this matter out! ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 06:48, June 16, 2011 (UTC)
      • Hey, "Fett neutralized Longo Two-Guns's men one by one. He first captured Wint in a docking bay." was unsourced. I threw in a ref to Bounty Hunter at the end, but definitely change it if it's supposed to be the strategy guide or something. Menkooroo 07:02, June 16, 2011 (UTC)

As far as Behind the Magic goes, I believe the only image of any advisors is this advertisement, but don't quote me on that, since I don't have the CD. CAN archiving error

Hello Menkooroo, a while back in February, I erroneously archived several CAN's that did not have enough votes to pass, as you can see here. As I said in that original message, I mistakenly thought they did have enough votes to pass, don't know what happened that day. However, IIRC, all of them also had your votes from before you were part of the EC, so if they were still around and with no oustanding objections when you became one, they would have been ok to archive. Olioster never responded to my response; should they, now months later, be undergoing CA review, or can those mistakes be let go? Hanzo Hasashi 03:08, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

That pesky CT

Hey Menk, I just wanted to start a dialogue with you because there's some sort of disagreement or confusion over that CT. It may be on my part alone, but that's all the more reason for me to try and discuss the problem with you, and perhaps either clarify the policy or work to make it more accepting. I read the original CT when it was active, but looking back, I was either voting because I was unclear on the full requirements of the policy, or short-sighted in regards to what the policy pertained to. In essence, I agree with it, but I feel like authors shouldn't be encouraged to detract sources from their article, but should instead simply not be required to add non-unique internet links to it. Let me know what you think, I'd love to pick your brain on the subject. Also, I'm looking forward to your Sacking of Coruscant review; thanks for checking it out. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 16:13, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

  • No no no, you didn't come off too strongly at all—don't worry about that. I see what your saying though, and it does help to see the similarities between interviews and forum posts, but I would assert that interviews that are given their very own dedicated online article are still sources. Instead of being similar to forum posts, I would assert that they are more like Insider articles—they aren't all unique, but we are all still considered to be sources, regardless of the quality of the article's content. Forums, on the other hand, are open discussion. While they may be hosted by official sites, the posts are not official publications or releases, as an article is. Do I think we should mandate the inclusion of all SW.com articles? Nah. Like I said, stuff like this shouldn't be in Darth Maul's sources list, and this shouldn't be in Cad Bane's. However, I believe that if something is at one point considered to be a source of information, like a first mention in an interview, then it is always a source for information—new sources don't detract from the credibility and "officialness" of the first source. How we would handle that moving forward is something that I'm not certain about. Darth Trayus(Trayus Academy) 17:35, July 25, 2011 (UTC)

Rogues Gallery

Back in 2000, Star Wars Insider did a poll where they asked fans to choose which of various OT characters they'd like to see made into an action figure. There's a gallery of 24 images, some with one person in them, some with two, but it includes folks like Elis Helrot, Wioslea, Feltipern Trevagg, and others. I'm on the fence about whether we should list this thing on all of their pages; it does indeed include a photo and an ID for each of them, but it's not a proper article, either; it's a contest/poll. Since you're working on Helrot, I thought I'd ask you what you thought. Make an article for SWInsider "The Last Page: The Rogue's Gallery" — Star Wars Insider 48, or leave it be? ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 22:11, August 8, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hmmm... it seems like "The Last Page" was a regular feature in Insider at that time. We (the community) regularly add Scouting the Galaxy and Ask Lobot to Sources sections, so this seems, IMO, to be fair game too. In such a case, I think we would just need to create The Last Page rather than The Last Page: The Rogue's Gallery, as features like Ask Lobot and Blaster have one general Wook article that covers every issue they appear in. Thanks for the info! I'll return the favor: Every (or maybe just most) issue of Star Wars Tales has a comical intro featuring cartoon versions of the editors interacting with SW characters. The intro to Star Wars Tales 23 is part of a mini-series called something like "The Adventures of Jeremy Barlow" that runs throughout a few issues. In Issue 23, there's a Lamproid in it. I'm not sure if we should create an article for the non-canon story "The Adventures of Jeremy Barlow (I'll confirm the name :P)", or if simply "Star Wars Tales 23 intro" should be added to Lamproid's Non-canon appearances list, like so. Whaddya think? I'll e-mail you a scan of the page later today so you can check it out for yourself. Menkooroo 03:36, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
    • OK, I stubbed "The Last Page." I only know of it being in #48, but hopefully folks will fill in with more details. And I'll keep an eye out for that non-canon Lamproid piece! My guess would be to treat it like any other story, and create a page for the whole "Adventures of Whoever" title. Nessus says thanks

Hey awesome to hear back from someone who knows what they are doing around here. Hope this is the correct way to converse with you as I am VERY new to this forum/wiki.

Certainly glad to help in any way I can and am looking forward to being a very active and hopefully important member one day.

I have recently been reunited with my fervor for Star Wars and have been amassing as much knowledge and material on it as i can. I recently have purchased several comic series and "Tales" novels and look forward to checking up on and creating anything that is not listed from them in the current wiki databases. =D Please let me know if I can assist you in any way or if you have any good guidelines to follow because I do not want to cause any issues with my work and would love to have someone I know that understands what is going on here. thanks again --DarthNessus 06:22, August 11, 2011 (UTC)DarthNessus Aka Stephen

We're halfway there

thumb|left|200px|Hey Menk... good job So guys, we're nearing the halfway point with this barn-burner. I just want to send out a broad message thanking everyone who has and plans on participating in Wookieepedia's second barn-burner, and update you guys on how it's going so far. So far, we have promoted nine Comprehensive Articles, twelve Good Articles, and one Featured Article! Fantastic job everyone who wrote and reviewed those weapons articles, I couldn't have asked for a better group to do so. We also have a number of current Good and Featured Article Nominations currently up, which you can see here.

However, as we approach the halfway point, I do want to encourage you all to keep writing and reviewing weapon articles for the barn-burner. Our goal should be to meet or surpass the level set by the previous barn-burner, which had over forty promoted articles. While we should aim to pass as many articles as possible by the end of the month, I may extend the barn-burner a little into September for any stragglers, especially for those Users who are writing extremely long Featured Articles for the project.

I should also notify participants of a recent Consensus Track over weapons that is about to pass. The CT is over when we should fill in the "Owners" field for Template:Weapon. Right now, it seems as if we are leaning towards filling in the field for unique weapon types, and not filling in the field for general weapon types. As such, we should fix any weapons we have, or will, write for the barn-burner to fit these new parameters. Thanks you for reading this, and keep up the good work. Helrot in ANH

Hey, Menk. I noticed you changed Elis Helrot to say he doesn't actually appear in ANH. Do you not agree with this site that he's visible behind Greedo? It's hard to tell without my DVDs handy, but what do you think? ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 21:25, August 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Nope. Helrot was part of the supplemental shooting, which was limited to the aliens sitting in the booths. Han and Greedo's scene would have been earlier, during primary shooting, which was over before Rick Baker even began constructing the supplemental-shooting masks. Not sure who that random blob is, but thanks for helping with the hunt. :) Menkooroo 02:48, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
    • Weren't Greedo's closeups part of supplemental shooting too? I know there are two sets of Greedo hands, for instance, because George was unsatisfied with the Human-like hands used during the England-based shooting. ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 03:05, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
    • Check here -- it was the mask articulation Lucas didn't like, but Greedo scenes were indeed filmed in both England and California. So that could be Elis... ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 03:08, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
      • Ah, interesting. Still, that thing next to the Duro is really just a blob... I don't see any reason to assume it's Elis rather than anyone else. Menkooroo 03:28, August 18, 2011 (UTC)
        • Watching the scene on youtube (seven minutes in) doesn't seem to confirm anything, either. The back of the character's head looks like it could be Helrot, or maybe a Bith, or possibly even Myo with weird lighting. The absence of the white towel around the neck casts doubt on Helrot... I don't think we can say anything in the bts about it without speculating, but I'll make sure that the earlier sentence in the bts specifically says that Helrot doesn't appear in the film while at Feltipern's table. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, though. Menkooroo 03:52, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

A question

Hello Menkooroo, at some point (probably not during the school year though) I plan to work on making Janse a good article. I have discussed this on Yodapedia, and on there Sompeetalay believes that his membership in the strike team alone is not enough proof he actually fought on Endor. Both the Official Star Wars Fact File and The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia do not directly state he fought on Endor, though the Encyclopedia does state Janse was "part of the ground assault team that infiltrated the Empire's shield generator station on the Forest Moon of Endor." When I brought it up on Yodapedia, Sompeetalay again said all that proves is he was part of the strike team, which went to Endor, but did not directly state Janse went with them, so it is unclear. Would you agree with that? I would tend to believe the same thing as Sompeetalay, and unless you believe otherwise, if/when I get to working on him, I will write a bts note explaining that though he was on the strike team, no source directly says he fought at Endor. Hanzo Hasashi 14:29, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

  • To be honest, I thought this too, until bringing it up on Yodapedia. It really did seem pretty clear he was on Endor from the Encyclopedia's entry. On Facebook I've also asked Leland Chee, though he tends to not answer a lot of the questions anymore it seems. I'll probably very shortly make the edit on YP as well. As for the actual project itself, I'm going to try to make it that I don't have the time to actually work on these big projects during the school year, as a way of becoming a better student. Still expect to see edits from me though. Hanzo Hasashi 15:07, September 6, 2011 (UTC)

TK-104

Hello Menkooroo, when I worked on making TK-104 a CA, I overlooked the exact background on the stormie's card. Take a look here, is that the Millennium Falcon escaping in the reflection of 104's helmet? If so, then I would need to slightly rewrite the article. Hanzo Hasashi 18:57, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

  • Sure is! Looks like Bespin. --Eyrezer 20:23, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

Canderous Ordo FA status

Hey Menkooroo, as I'm sure you already know, the Canderous Ordo has recently been tagged for review as it currently has an update tag from a recent excerpt released in Star Wars Insider. Xd1358 has recommended I get some opinions from Inqs as to how much updating should be enough at this point to allow the article to keep its FA status. As one of the Inqs who was kind enough to help the article pass in the first place, I was hoping you would be willing to give your personal view on the matter.

My main points are already on the Inq page for Canderous, but to summarize, the excerpt deals with Canderous and Revan seeking out Clan Ordo and telling them they intend to reclaim the Mask of Mandalore, with a large reveal being that Canderous took a wife at some point. I have already added a sentence telling of the first part, but I believe it would be premature to attempt to add any information about his wife until more context is given. There really was not much information to go on from the excerpt and the book itself is out in only a couple of months, so I was hoping the Inqs could be persuaded to hold off until then and give me a chance to update the article once the novel is out, as it will undoubtedly be a much more reliable resource than the excerpt. Thanks as always for your consideration Menkooroo! JethLordMaster18px (Xia Order) 02:56, September 18, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Malastare quote

I don't have it in front of me, so it probably was incorrect. You can go ahead and restore the [sic] if you like, although is there a specific WP policy that says we must keep typos in quotes as they are misspelled, rather than simply fixing the typo? It seems like a silly rule to me; if the line were spoken this is how we'd spell it, so I don't see why we should write it any differently just because it was written in text (with a typo) rather than spoken. — Hunter Kahn 06:11, September 19, 2011 (UTC)

  • Ah. Well, like I said, it's a dumb rule. :) But a rule nonetheless, so go ahead and restore the old quote. — Hunter Kahn 06:26, September 19, 2011 (UTC)

Sta-Den Eekin and time droid control ship raid starts

You said that the droid control ship raid starts before the arena battle, and that anyone who dies in the control ship was never in the arena. But when I watched Episode 2, I noticed that Ki-Adi-Mundi turned on his lightsaber on a balcony at the start of the arena battle and soon disappears until he is escorted into the circle with Plo Koon and Aayla Secura. I seem to think that he entered the arena, left the arena, boarded the droid control ship, and returned to the arena; meaning that it is possible that the Klatooinian who dies in the control ship raid enters the arena, leaves with Ki-Adi-Mundi, and dies in the control ship before he could make it back to the arena, meaning that this Klatooinian might be Sta-Den Eekin. I never said the raid occurred after the arena battle. I seem to think that you forgot that Ki-Adi-Mundi was seen on a balcony at the start of the arena battle. Am I right about this? 173.51.117.61 06:52, October 13, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Graxol Kelvyyn

Here is the text block on Graxol Kelvyyn from Star Wars Gamer 7:

  • "Not all Anx are so honorable as Horox Ryyder. At the oppsoite end of the spectrum is Graxol Kelvyyn, a slave trader based on Ryloth who does business throughout the Outer Rim. If Kelvyyn has a herd, it's the seedy network of smugglers of living cargo who make their living in shadowports from Kidiet Olgo in the Core to Mytaranor and Thalassia in the Outer Rim. An obsessive gambler and friend of Watto the Toydarian, Kelvyyn frequently attends the Podraces on Tatooine. Recently, he has made an all-too-common Anx mistake that no slaver can afford to make: falling in love with a piece of his property. The chillox-fruit of his eye is the beautiful Shakka, whom Kelvyyn has taken to having on his arm at social gatherings."
  • From the roleplaying stats it can be found that Kelvyyn owns a hold-out blaster, knows martial arts, and knows how to speak, read and write in Anx and Basic as well as speak Huttese, Rodian, Shyriiwook, Shusugaunt, and Twi'lek. It can also be gleaned that he has a large amount of knowledge about criminal organizations, is excellent at intimidating people, and from other various stats it can be found that he was adept at trading and gambling.

That's about it, I am always happy to help.--Exiled Jedi 20px (Greetings) 13:59, November 19, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Saun Dann

Hi Menkooroo,

here's a transcript of the conversations with Saun Dann from Galaxies (with the name of my player character in it):

The original quest in 2008:

Saun Dann: "Happy Life Day Cra'ven! I hear you're good at solving problems and I have one I could use some help with. Would you perhaps be interested?"
Me: "What can I do for you?"
Saun Dann: "I ordered two cases of delicious Life Day candy from Keren on Naboo but they should have been here by now. I'm worried something might have happened."
Me: "I can look into it."
Saun Dann: "That's fantastic Cra'ven! The candy was for the poor children of this town so I feel awful that I couldn't deliver. You should start by talking to the Shipping Master at the Keren starport. Good luck and happy Life Day Cra'ven!"
―Saun Dann and player[src]

And when the player returns after tracking down the candies and confronting TK-555:

Saun Dann: "Great to see you Cra'ven! Any luck finding the missing candy?"
Me: "I'm afraid it was stolen and eaten Saun."
Saun Dann: "Oh no, that's terrible. Who would do such a thing?"
―Saun Dann and player[src]

at this point, there are two answers to choose from:

Option 1:

Me: "I promised I wouldn't say but he's paid the price for his crime."
Saun Dann: "I see, well then I will respect that and investigate no further. I will find another gift for the children out of my supplies that will hopefully be as appreciated. I want to thank you for your help anway Cra'ven and wish you a happy Life Day."
―Saun Dann and player[src]

Option 2:

Me: "A slob of a Stormtrooper with no shame!"
Saun Dann: "A stormtrooper? They're even worse than I thought!"
Me: "I agree. I made him pay for his crime at least."
Saun Dann: "I don't want to hear any details but I'm glad to hear that. I will find another gift for the children out of my supplies, that will hopefully be as appreciated. I want to thank you for your help anyway Cra'ven and wish you a happy Life Day."
―Saun Dann and player[src]

And if you talk to him after the quest:

"Happy Life Day! Check out my holiday wares!"
―Saun Dann[src]

In 2009 and the following years, the dialogue changed a bit if you had already done the quest in the year(s) before:

Saun Dann: "Happy Life Day Cra'ven! Would you perhaps be interested in helping me again?"
Me: "Whan can I do for you?"
Saun Dann: "I ordered more cases of delicious Life Day candy from Keren on Naboo but once again they seem to have been delayed. I'm worried something might have happened."
Me: "It was probably the same person that took them the first time."
Saun Dann: "You may be right. But all the same, I think you should start in Keren and investigate from there."
Me: "But I suspect I already know where that trail will lead."
Saun Dann: "And I suspect that if you were to go and immediately confront that person, all he would say is 'Can't you see I'm busy? Move along.' And nothing more. So, as in all things, it is best if we start at the beginning."
Me: "Very well, I'll start at the beginning."
Saun Dann: "That's fantastic Cra'ven! The candy was for the poor children of this town so I fell awful that I couldn't deliver. You should start by talking to the Shipping Master at the Keren starport. Good luck and happy Life Day Cra'ven!"
―Saun Dann and player[src]

Hope you can use some of it. --Craven 20:31, December 1, 2011 (UTC)

  • I just replied on my talk page about Insider 50. Sorry it took so long. Didn't find anything :( —Xwing328(Talk) 08:07, December 13, 2011 (UTC)

Prenom

Hello Menkooroo, I have pretty much finished up Janse, can I get a prenom before it goes to GAN? Btw, let me know if I should redlink and make a page for "weapons design evaluator." Thanks! Hanzo Hasashi 03:57, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks for the prenoms. Indeed I just had my last final, the semester went alright, I think my organic chemistry final was the toughest! I'm glad it's over though. Oh, and thanks for the advice with personality and traits. Would that apply to the entire strike team? If so, it sounds like all of them served on Echo Base? Hanzo Hasashi 05:03, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
    • With the sharpshooter thing, how does this edit look? Hanzo Hasashi 05:12, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
      • See the edit in the bio. Oh, and thanks for the Facebook message. Hanzo Hasashi 05:21, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
        • Assuming nothing is missing from the Movie Trilogy Sourcebook, would you say the article is currently ok for nomination? Hanzo Hasashi 05:30, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

More Mos Eisley Madness

Hey, Menk. If I might direct your attention to Forum:SH:More Mos Eisley Madness... When you have a chance, you mind stopping by and weighing in? I think I know what needs to be done to update with Leland Chee's new cantina/Mos Eisley IDs, but several FAs are affected, so I would like some other eyes on the problem first. You've done your share of cantina characters, so I thought you might be able to help. Thanks either way! ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 16:37, December 16, 2011 (UTC)

  • Seems like you guys have it all figured out. What sucks is that these retcons are most likely stemmed from Chee being less knowledgeable than the fans and f'ing up the IDs. Menkooroo 04:32, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
    • Cool, thanks for chiming in. Yeah, I think Chee was trying to clean up mistakes made by Decipher in these cases, but he made the wrong call on the Nimbanese. The Lutrillians I'm on the fence about. On the one hand, the guy we've all been calling Solomahal for years was based on a Holiday Special character who is too thin to be either of the A New Hope Lutrillians. On the other, there could have been some retcon about Lutrillians having blubber that they rapidly lose in arid conditions, yadda yadda yadda that could have preserved Solomahal as an OT character. :/ ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 06:01, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

Another prenom

Hello Menkooroo, could you also take a look at Kensaric? Thanks in advance. Hanzo Hasashi 02:21, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hey, and also can you take a look Marmor when you have the chance, and a. tell me if anything can be added to make him GA nom quality, and b. see if it can be assumed he was on Tydirium during the strike team's departure from Home One, I believed it can't? Like always, thanks in advance. Hanzo Hasashi 18:25, December 19, 2011 (UTC)
    • Brooks has been updated, and is 974 words now, still just GA quality. Can you take a look at the update, and make sure he still adheres to ideal quality standards? I will make the associated changes to Janse and Kensaric soon. Hanzo Hasashi 17:47, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
      • However, Janse joined the Alliance shortly before the Battle of Endor. Conflict of canon? Or can it be assumed that perhaps he was not on Echo Base at Hoth, but the others were? Hanzo Hasashi 18:07, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
        • The Night Attack info is on Delevar's page, and I think I will get the information from there. That will push Brooks to above 1000 words but below 3000, and to be honest I might just prefer for him to stay GA quality, at least for now, but of course want to make sure he still adheres to current standards. Hanzo Hasashi 18:16, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
          • Brooks has been updated, however I do not plan on pushing him to FA, at least not when I have 3 other noms, at least one probably going to be FAN. Hanzo Hasashi 18:34, December 20, 2011 (UTC)
            • Hi Menkooroo, can you also archive Marmor? I don't want this to be another CAN that has been eligible to pass for several days before actually being archived. Thanks. Hanzo Hasashi 01:17, December 21, 2011 (UTC)
              • Hi, I believe I have finished the updates for both Janse (who the AC needs to archive as failed GAN) and Kensaric, so can I say final prenoms before they go to the FA nom page? Hanzo Hasashi 05:40, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Infobox battles

Hey Menk, I've gone ahead and posted a response to each. Your point was exactly right: we avoid mentioning those battles in the article when they don't have any affect on the subject battle. Cheers! :) Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 16:51, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

  • Hey, no problem. :) I don't think the GAN actually has a rule for info exclusive to a certain part of the article, so one wouldn't be needed. CC7567 (talk) 18:29, December 21, 2011 (UTC)
  • Sure thing, thanks for bringing it to our attention. I don't think a CT is necessary, because it's pretty straightforward to tell whether or not one battle/event is related to another; we should be able to judge these case-by-case pretty easily. (That said, if you feel like writing up a CT on the matter anyway, I certainly wouldn't oppose it.) Jonjedigrandmaster (Talk) 21:46, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Barn-burner

[[:File:TPM 3D poster.jpg|thumb|150px|left]]Just wanted to encourage everyone participating in December's barn-burner on Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace to keep up the hard work! Only two articles have been passed, but five are currently nominated, and I suspect numerous projects are underway. The month is over halfway through, so we need to hurry and finish as many articles as we can before the end of the month. Keep writing and keep reviewing! Also, don't forget about the current CT on Databank entries in the "Sources" section, as many articles will have to be updated to meet the new criteria. I thank all of you for taking part in this project and working to make the site better for the release of The Phantom Menace in 3-D in February, and I'm confident the results will be satisfactory. Anyway, just keep...doing what you're doing. :P MasterFred20px(Whatever) 20:26, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Yutani

No worries. I myself already knew about that card when working on Yutani originally, but I came to realize those cards had no canon value whatsoever. Thanks for the heads-up nonetheless. Hanzo Hasashi 18:21, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Ellberger

Hello, I see that you found some more appearances for Ellberger, is there any new info from these works or should I just mention them in the BTS?--Exiled Jedi 20px (Greetings) 18:39, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

Strike team

Hello Menkooroo, it is worth noting that Brenn Tantor was another strike team member who did not serve under Bren Derlin's command at Hoth. He did participate in the battle though, albeit with the Empire. Hanzo Hasashi 21:27, December 22, 2011 (UTC)

  • It definitely seemed that Janse could not have served at Hoth, having recently joined the Alliance shortly before the Battle of Endor, as I stated earlier. As for Brooks, perhaps a revert and the only real update will be dealing with Night Attack? Hanzo Hasashi 21:32, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
    • Addendum: Yes Kensaric was confirmed by other sources to be at Hoth, it's Brooks who maybe we can't confirm. Hanzo Hasashi 21:34, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
      • I think I will first start by cutting what can be cut on Brooks first. Hanzo Hasashi 21:42, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
        • See here. Do you think now Brooks has received a good update? Hanzo Hasashi 21:49, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
          • All three updated, but I didn't see your comment about the sourcebook. Will add back the Hoth info for Brooks, and also keep the inconsistency for Janse. Hanzo Hasashi 22:25, December 22, 2011 (UTC)
            • Carlson updated, and I believe that would be the last of the extraneous details. Hanzo Hasashi 05:06, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

Master Jonathan has awarded you a Mint Wookiee Cookie!
For your efforts in helping Wedge Antilles become the longest Featured Article on Wookieepedia, specifically being the first user to tackle the job of reviewing this behemoth and later taking over the duty of addressing objections when Havac disappeared. This really was a team effort. Thank you for your work, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Master Jonathan (Council Chambers) Saturday, December 24, 2011, 05:19 UTC

Re: Boys in camo

I think I've updated all three of them, both merging short paragraphs, and chronologically changed Kensaric and Brooks Carlson. Hopefully now Brooks Carlson's update has been handled well. As for the others, I will look for a different picture tomorrow, hope my edits otherwise are ideal. Hanzo Hasashi 06:23, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

  • Images changed for Kensaric and Janse. Now all I need is to wait for a final prenom evaluation for those two before they go to the FAN page, and also hope that I've finally tackled Brooks Carlson's update ideally. Hanzo Hasashi 16:53, December 24, 2011 (UTC)

Vul Tazaene

Hello Menkooroo, can you do an appearance/source hunt for Vul Tazaene? Perhaps he doesn't have that many other appearances/sources, as Unidentified balding Human (Jabba's Palace) is I think always near him, and the latter only appears in the PhotoComic. Thanks in advance, and can you also tell me if Tazaene shows any sign of personality in his scenes (I'm not sure whether or not he's visible cheering during Luke's fight with the Rancor)? Hanzo Hasashi 22:35, December 25, 2011 (UTC)

  • Thanks. He is visible 3 times: when Luke falls into the Rancor pit, when Jabba sentences Luke and Han to die, and on the sail barge. As for the signs of personality, I had recently watched that scene, and as far as I could tell, he wasn't visible cheering during the battle with the rancor, but I'm wondering if it can still be assumed he was. Hanzo Hasashi 19:49, December 26, 2011 (UTC)
    • Hi Menkooroo, have you rechecked the sources and adaptations for him yet? If indeed Return is his only appearance, he will go to the GAN page. Hanzo Hasashi 17:05, December 30, 2011 (UTC)

Your right, now that I think about it.24.193.145.164 04:27, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Baragwin chicks

Hey, Menk, I noticed you just archived and passed [[Unidentified Baragwin (holochess)]]. I had supported, but I found one last objection yesterday, as you can see here. Should I just ask CalJedi to fix it up? I don't think it really requires an undo of the passing, since it's a fairly simple objection to fix, I think, but I've not been in a situation like this before and wanted to make sure. ~Savagelink=User talk:SavageBob 18:50, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

  • Ah, sorry, I hadn't noticed that. Yeah, you can probably just work it out with him on his talk page. If it's just a matter of removing the word "male" and changing a category, you're right, it doesn't need undoing. Menkooroo 18:00, December 27, 2011 (UTC)
    • I went ahead and just switched it around. Thanks for catching that, and thanks to Menk for archiving all those noms while I was away for Christmas.--Cal Jedi8px (Personal Comm Channel) 18:17, December 27, 2011 (UTC)

ESB Radio Drama Script

Hello Menkooroo, do you have access to The Empire Strikes Back: The National Public Radio Dramatization in answer to Toprawa's objection? When I was working on Cabbel, though I myself don't have access to the source, I saw that it is not listed under former FA/current restoring FA nom Xamuel Lennox's sources, so I assumed that he doesn't appear in it. Hanzo Hasashi 04:22, December 31, 2011 (UTC)

IRC

Hey Menk, when you have time, could you log into IRC? Thanks man. JangFett (Talk) 16:34, December 31, 2011 (UTC)
