SWPM Friend of Wookiee nom

Hi, JangFett. I was wondering if you would be able to support the nomination for the Star Wars PocketModel TCG official website to become friends with Wookieepedia—like the former Decipher SWCCG committee site—since there are many articles that link to the SWPM site for source images—except that these images aren't restricted like the the ones currently on SWCCGCC. Thanks! —GethralkinHyperwave 13:30, April 4, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Headache

I actually could've sworn that I saw a 21 BBY date elsewhere in the book, but I can't find it at the moment. In any case, I think the best we can assume is that it's an error on the author's part—I have no inclination to go along with it. At this point, I'm about ready to shout down anyone who makes the mess even messier. :P CC7567 (talk) 20:56, April 8, 2012 (UTC)

Gank AC page

Hey, Jang, can you point me to the AC page about the current probe of Gank? I"d like to work on the article, but the template on the page currently goes to a redlink, so I'm not sure what needs to be done. Thanks! ~SavageBOB sig 01:33, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Kep-She

Good evening sir or whatever time of the day is when you read this message. I found the Essential Guide to Warfare in your collection and wondered if you could help me out a little bit with the info about Kep-She? Thanks for any sort of reply. Clone Commander Lee Talk 08:34, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. Clone Commander Lee Talk 15:33, April 9, 2012 (UTC)
No problem, I actually never considered to leave the article at its current state and will detail the background of the battle a little bit more. Clone Commander Lee Talk 17:30, April 9, 2012 (UTC)
I worked a little bit more on the article. If you still have some ideas how to improve the article please let me know. Clone Commander Lee Talk 20:13, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

But...

It was not triva, it was an animation error. I just thought it was important to point out. If there is no diffrence could you explian, please?--Darthahsokaboyfrenidfett 21:19, April 24, 2012 (UTC)

Rattatak dating

Jang, on the article Mission to Rattatak, I changed the infobox for the battle to fit between the Mission to The Wheel and the First Battle of Kamino. It's been reverted on the Kamino article, so I ask you: when does this event take place? Leland Chee said it was mere weeks after Geonosis, but this was later changed to two months (in the Dooku article, it's placed right before Kamino). Also, is it true that the NEC says the battle took place in 24 BBY? If so, that would be a rather odd retcon, as it would place the event OUTSIDE of the Clone Wars.

Also, I'm working on brining the Battle of Nelvaan article up to a higher status - since you seem to be knowledgeable when it comes to the old CW show, could you possibly help out? Thanks, Chip Brown 15:53, April 28, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks. Also, in the article Battle of Ilum, there used to be a mention of the battle's appearance in Clone Wars Chapter 1 which has since been deleted. I think there was a mention on the old Cartoon Network CW site that the snowy world with the dome in Chap. 1 was indeed Ilum, but this link is dead. Now, would it be appropriate to re-add the Chap. 1 mention, or does verifiability take place over truth? Chip Brown 10:58, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

Consensus

I'm sure the Agricorps as a group have the right to tinker with the archiving instructions, but I'm skeptical that one member can unilaterally declare them a "mess" and re-order them as he pleases. They were modeled after the FA instructions, which no Inquisitor has had a problem following, and which aren't ordered arbitrarily. You add the article to the queue at the beginning, and since you already have it open in edit mode, you add the FA star and hit save. You don't have to open the article in edit mode at all for the remainder of the process. The community ratified modeling the GA queue after the FA queue, and I wouldn't be skeptical if the AC as a group discussed changing at a meeting, but consensus isn't generally unilaterally ignored. Menkooroo 00:46, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

  • The instructions page was indeed part of the discussion, and the vote: Vote # 1 read: "Approve... the proposed updates to Wookieepedia:Good article nominations/instructions." I'm not following precedent here; I'm following community consensus. In this case, consensus does dictate that what was established in the FAN carries to the GAN. It's what was approved. Deciding that it's "in need of fixing" is highly subjective. Menkooroo 01:02, May 1, 2012 (UTC)
    • Have you not read the CT? Vote #1 explicitly approved this edit. It included a link to [[User:Menkooroo/GA queue checklist|this page]] and said "These are the proposed changes." It seems like you're not familiar with the CT; take a few moments to read it over so that you can understand what was voted on by the community. Let me know when you've read it. I'm not accusing you of violating any policy, and I apologize if that was what I came across as. It just seemed at first glance like an active attempt to subvert consensus, but now I understand that it was ignorance of the CT. Menkooroo 01:12, May 1, 2012 (UTC)
      • I didn't mean "ignorant" as an insult. You expressed doubt that this edit had been approved by the CT when Vote #1 clearly did approve it. It wasn't a stretch to assume based on that that you weren't familiar with the CT. If you are, in fact, familiar with it --- why should an individual user's subjective declaration of a "mess" trump community consensus? Menkooroo 01:23, May 1, 2012 (UTC)
        • Still waiting on an answer to this question. Since the community voted for this edit, why should an individual user's subjective declaration of a "mess" trump community consensus? Menkooroo 16:12, May 1, 2012 (UTC)

About a GANom (unidentified young new recruit)

Hello, JangFett. I wanted to ask you, if you have time, if you could review the GANom of the "unidentified young new recruit" article. It's already been reviewed in detail by SavageBob and Clone ommander Lee, but I still wish to know the opinion of other editor—especially ACs, of course... I've been on the Wook for five years, but it's my first try at a GA. It went through a lot of hard work, and I hope it will end up being accepted. :) Who knows, if this one works, perhaps I'll try with others? Cheers.--LelalMekha 15:47, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

  • Thank you. I wouldn't want to sound impatient. Did I? Well, most probably. :$ I guess this what it does on your first GANom. ;-)--LelalMekha 16:04, May 4, 2012 (UTC)

TCW timeline (not really) in The Ultimate Visual Guide

Have you gotten Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide: Updated and Expanded yet? In the introduction, Windham says that the order in which TCW episodes presented comes with input from Leland Chee and is actually chronological, but I'm having trouble just following the order that Windham is trying to suggest, what with all the placement of pictures and grouping by topics ("Monsters," "Witches and Demons," etc.) instead of anything that seems like what we've seen before. CC7567 (talk) 03:33, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

  • I'll have an SH thread up soon and then you can see what I'm talking about. CC7567 (talk) 05:01, May 5, 2012 (UTC)
    • How different is the placement of the episodes? JangFett (Talk) 05:03, May 5, 2012 (UTC)
      • You'll see in about seven minutes. :P CC7567 (talk) 05:04, May 5, 2012 (UTC)

Verhandle

I'm having trouble uploading an image to the article, Verhandle, which I recently created. It claimed that if I contacted an administrator, you might be able to help me. The site claimed an error due to "combined user upload," or something like that. Do you know what the problem is?--Cheesetater 03:59, May 6, 2012 (UTC)

Retcon?

With the release of The Clone Wars episode Citadel Escape wouldn't that make the appearance of his lightsaber retcon in Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight? DarthRevan1173 01:06, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

My screenshot, which was deleted a short time ago, was properly sourced, fit into the article, and had a proper name, so I would like to get some explanation on its deletion. --XXLVenom998 16:32, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

Season 5 Teaser

Is the fact that the Season 5 Teaser was an excerpt of the full Star Wars Weekends trailer not worth noting? Bane7670 00:42, May 23, 2012 (UTC)

  • The fact that the full trailer was/is to be shown at Star Wars Weekends was released by an official source. It is in the description of the Season 5 teaser video on Star Wars.com. Bane7670 00:54, May 23, 2012 (UTC)
    • Is it still not worth having on the page? Bane7670 15:25, June 7, 2012 (UTC)

Timeline of Books edit

I would like to make a major revision to the Timeline of Books page. It would make the colors more consistent with the Timeline of media page. I would make red unpublished, blue adult novels (because blue is the color for the main stories as opposed to the short stories), and green would be kids novels. I think the consistency would make it easier for readers in the long run and give a more professional look to the site. Could I have your input on this? Thanks.

Offer of Assistance

Well, I know as well as anyone what it's like to have an overfilled schedule. How about this: I could complete it myself, and you could fix anything you don't like later? I know your answer's probably going to be "No" on this, but I thought I should offer to make myself useful around here. I am, of course, willing to follow through on my offer, and do a good job, but if you wish to do it by yourself... All you have to do is say the word. User: Dr. Anonymous1 19:06, June 21, 2012 (UTC)

  • As a matter of fact, the question is not if JangFett has a problem with it or not. I first added a deletion template too. While your addition must have been done in good faith, the subject of your out-of-universe article is simply non-notable. --LelalMekha (talk) 15:20, July 6, 2012 (UTC)

WP:VG one year anniversary

1313RakJaren-SWcom
WookieeProject Video Games has completed its first year!
A year ago today, WookieeProject Video Games was founded. Although it started out rather small, it quickly grew to be currently one of the most productive WookieeProjects. In that year, WookieeProject Video Games has seen seven Featured articles, thirty-four Good articles, and sixty-five Comprehensive articles passed, a very impressive amount especially for such a short time.

WP:VG was founded by Cal Jedi on July 8, 2011 with a mission "to improve...video game articles and bring them up to date" and also to "bring all related articles to Featured article status, Good article status, and Comprehensive article status." WP:VG has answered the call to the best of its ability. Five days after its formation, Exiledjedi joined the Project. More and more users began joining, until now, the project has eleven members. On July 26, 2011, the Project gained its first Comprehensive article, Unidentified Bakuran astromech droid, taken to status by Cal Jedi. Shortly thereafter, WP:VG's first Good article, J'Meeb Gumb, was taken to status by Exiledjedi on August 17, 2011. WP:VG's first Featured article, Battle of Kessel (0 ABY), was brought to status on October 19, 2011 by a guest nominator, Kilson.

WP:VG has associated with many other WookieeProjects—such as WookieeProject The Old Republic, WookieeProject Knights of the Old Republic, WookieeProject Galaxies, and others—helping each other bring articles to status. Overall, Wookieepedia's video game articles have drastically improved. While many have been taken to status, many more have been worked on and improved through the efforts of WP:VG's members.

There are many Star Wars video games. From the very first Star Wars game, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, to the recently released Kinect Star Wars, WP:VG has been there to work on an area on Wookieepedia that needs much attention. With the many games that have been produced under the Star Wars title, a large amount of people have come to love Star Wars games. We have had some tremendous Star Wars games in the past, and as we look to the future, we can see many more promising Star Wars titles on the horizon. Star Wars: 1313 is just around the corner, and it will require much work. And that is not the end. There will be more Star Wars games in the future. WP:VG needs to be there to address their needs on Wookieepedia.

However, a WookieeProject is nothing without its members. An impressive amount of work has been done by Corellian Premier. He has done a lot of work taking care of the little details in video game articles—many of which would otherwise have been forgotten—and he has also done a fine job of doing a lot of "inside work" of WP:VG. Olioster has also been doing a tremendous job of late. He has recently nominated an impressive amount of articles from Star Wars Galaxies. Even though the game has been offline for quite some time now, he keeps carrying on in his work. Congratulations, though, go to all of WP:VG's members. Without the members, WP:VG would be nothing. Together, the members of WP:VG have done a wondeful work on Wookieepedia. WookieeProject Video Games has done a great job over the past year. May it continue to do even better in the years to come. May the Force be with the gamers!

TCW Characters

Well if you look at the majority of the pages, they are about characters which generally have lines, and the others are about characters that actually did something to stand out from the crowd. There are way more pages out there about characters that do absolutely nothing, but they still have their own articles. I am careful to look after details and quotes that make them stand out, even though that might mean creating articles about a lot of characters.TheMasterMind (talk) 13:28, July 16, 2012 (UTC)

88th Flight

Please identify and post the specific issues regarding Original Research on the 88th Flight article's Talk Page. Thank you. —GethralkinHyperwave 03:30, July 19, 2012 (UTC)

  • Your basis for calling it OR is that you believe that the SWPM game has no bearing on the identifying of the material in the TCW show. However, that is entirely not the case as the SWPM game was a major platform for introducing characters, equipment, and vehicle/ship units that would be featured in series episodes not yet aired. This has been established by advertisements and promotional material issued by the WizKids company and Lucas. The identity of the droids fighters marked with the same markings as those in the game were confirmed by the game company prior to the airing of the show. Their visual collective (rather than individual) identity is confirmed by WizKids and Lucas (particularly George Lucas, who was reported by Topps/WizKids company representatives to have signed off on design sheets personally). In addition, visual acknowledgement of identification is proper as per other precedents. —GethralkinHyperwave 08:08, July 26, 2012 (UTC)

Dyer Radio quote

Hello JangFett, I have a problem with the Dyer article having his radio drama quote in the bio. That quote is a direct contradiction with what was said in the movie (him shouting "Freeze" just before getting hit by that charge) and there's no way he could have canonically said both things at that moment. If you put that line in the article at all, you can choose to just put it in the behind the scenes section (see DV-692 as an example). Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 00:32, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

  • But the second after Dyer shouted "Freeze" in the film, he was hit and fell. Yes I know scenes in adaptations are canon, but not the parts that contradict with the films. For example, are we to say that Cassio Tagge was canonically choked by Vader for mocking the Force in ANH, or Kabe antagonized Luke in the cantina, and was attacked by Obi-Wan? I don't think so. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:00, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
    • And I think any direct contradictions are to be treated as non-canon, and, if mentioned at all, mentioned in the BTS. I remember having that issue with the Kendal Ozzel article in the past. The quote in the bio when Vader was choking him was from the Radio Drama, which directly contradicted with the movie. Anyhow, when Tranner rewrote the whole article sometime afterward, he also replaced that quote with the movie quote. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:07, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
      • Yes the article isn't complete, but when I see that quote in the bio, it appears to me you will be treating it as fully canon when it's overridden. Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:14, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
        • Hmmm, maybe you can have an inconsistencies subsection, and list the quote there instead of the bio, like Nahdonnis Praji? Hanzo Hasashi (talk) 01:17, July 25, 2012 (UTC)
          • Probably a subsection title that incorporates both inconsistency and different takes of Dyer. The Renz/Dyer merge, split, and possibly this radio drama bit. JangFett (Talk) 01:30, July 25, 2012 (UTC)

Shmi Skywalker

Why was my topic removed from the Shmi Skywalker Lars talk page? Did I give information that was incorrect or did I just offend someone with it? I don't understand why my edits were undone. They did not lower the standard of the article and in fact added new information that was properly sourced. Jartka'irn (talk) 02:34, August 19, 2012 (UTC)

Category:Titan Magazine [sic] comics

If yourself and Cal_Jedi insist on deleting, renaming or recreating pages I or other users created I'd appreciate it if you actually take the time to correctly spell the titles. ‘’Category:Titan Magazine comics’’ should in fact be ‘’Category:Titan Magazines comics’’ as that is the name under which the company is registered. Also back flipping on pages you've nominated for deletion then contributing to them later is highly irregular. Jartka'irn (talk) 03:51, August 26, 2012 (UTC)

Unidentified black-mustachioed Sanyassan GAN objections

Hello Jang! I just wanted to tell you that your current objections on the Unidentified black-mustachioed Sanyassan GAN are know two weeks old. Whenever you have a bit of spare time, could you please check on them? Thanks in advance. ;-) --LelalMekha (talk) 08:42, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Speculation

It's interesting how you accuse me of speculating when according to Witwer's interviews, such as this[1] he and Dave Filoni came to the conclusion that the Son's personality is an amalgam of the characteristics of several dark siders, such as Starkiller, Darth Vader and the Emperor. In another interview[2] Witwer says that the Son is essentially all of those characters. So while I appreciate your advice, the information you removed was verified by the actor who played the Son and the show's supervising director. JRT2010 (talk) 05:01, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

  • If the Son is the embodiment of the dark side of the Force, then yes his powers are "related" to Palpatine, as you put it, which makes him (i.e. the dark side) the source of the Emperor's own powers. Furthermore, in the episode Altar of Mortis, the Father states that the Son's descent into the dark side makes the Sith (i.e. Palpatine) even stronger. JRT2010 (talk) 06:28, September 8, 2012 (UTC)
    • My mistake then. I thought Witwer's and Filoni's take on the character would have been enough, seeing as how other articles base some of their information on the statements of authors when their sources aren't clear enough. (ex: Jan Duursema and the Galactic Alliance Remnant; Zahn's confirmation of the direct link between the Hand of Judgment and the new 501st, including units like Aurek-Seven.) Regardless, I'll be more careful to remember that anything authors, or actors and supervising directors for that matter, speculate about is not canon until it's in print. JRT2010 (talk) 18:34, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

Merchandise?

Hey JangFett. I can understand the Darth Maul DVD being merchandise but the galactic pop up book. Its not merchandise, its a book. Origami yoda and the other pop up book have a place on this wiki, why doesnt this? And another thing. What is the purpose of exporting stuff to the merchandise wiki? I looked at the things to be exported and some of it should'nt go. Also why export at all? Isnt the point of this wiki, to make it grow and have a wide variety of articles. We are currently the largest fan wiki in existence, and have been oficially acknowledged many times. The merchandise wiki should be for just action figures or toys not board games and other products. Please think about it.Opress100 (talk) 21:25, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

  • Opress100, I totally agree with you. I'm sick of pages being deleted or shifted to other wikis. Jartka'irn (talk) 15:30, September 10, 2012 (UTC)
    • This is a wiki for the recording of canon and non-canon material. If a product does not advance either or even reiterate canonical details—no, books of quotes don't count—it is simply merchandise. They have no plot and are merely objects branded with "Star Wars." The community decided not to cover such products—the individual action figure packs, the activity books, the tie-ins to other product lines—and that is why the Merchandise Wiki was created. If you want to expand articles on such products, expand them over there. That wiki needs more love anyway. NaruHina Talk Anakinsolo 15:57, September 10, 2012 (UTC)

With regards to the issue of Steela's age: I think you misunderstood my point about the 1800s. This may be 2012 and "not the 1800s", as you write, but the fact remains that this sci-fi/fantasy series often includes elements from fantasy worlds and real-life historical times, such as people of younger ages being considered adults. It is NOT based on what is happening in the real current world of 2012. If that were so, the series would have no creatures of any species other than humans. Look at the page for Boba Fett. He gets married at sixteen.

Hardcase

Hey, Jang. I wanted to run a couple of suggestions by you for Hardcase. The current infobox image of him is pretty dark, and can't really be brightened without sacrificing image quality. I wanted to suggest this image from "Plan of Dissent" as an alternative option. And another suggestion was for his death section, to replace the current one. This shot just really struck me as poignant - his last moment showing his character, sacrifice and bravery - encouraging his brothers live on. Anyhow, here they are for your consideration. - JMAS Jolly Trooper Hey, it's me! 05:56, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Even more, thanks for being a friend even during the early days when most people thought I was a noob that would never go anywhere. I never properly thanked you for that, Master Jangio, so I am now.

TCW Season Five

Hi there! I have just found the following episodes list for TCW S05 here: [3]. I think it is one of the most official sources, and it contains release dates, order and even characters who will show up in the series. With the help of this source, you could advance the page. Tell me what You think please. I hope my search was useful. Oh, and I almost forgot, to view the next episode (I don't want to link all), obviously, just click on the "Next Page" arrow under the "Watchlist" option. • No problem. Just thought it would be a good source, because IMBD is quite an official source, and it also seems to be correct so far. But it was just an idea. Sorry for disturbing. Best regards, XXLVenom998 (talk) 17:53, November 29, 2012 (UTC)--

Lightsaber shoto

I think you mistook my meaning. By “with” references I meant, plus references. As for the infobox, my understanding is that the lightsaber one is for use with personal saber articles, not lightsaber types. If you cast your eye around the site you will see that all the other lightsaber off-shoots (club, whip, pike, staff, foil etc) all use the weapon infobox with “lightsaber” being listed as the type of weapon.

I changed the image to the Ahsoka one because it depicts the size of a shoto compared with a standard saber, as opposed the Yoda one, which will just looks like an ordinary lightsaber to the uninitiated. Thank you for your time. The Knight of the Flowers (talk) 10:40, November 30, 2012 (UTC)

I'm aware that Yoda's saber is a shoto. However, as I said above an image that depicts the difference in size between a shoto and a regular saber is more appropriate, added to the fact that Ahsoka is using her shoto as a shoto is meant to be used, as opposed to Yoda you uses it as his primary weapon. By all means, when my expansion of the article is complete we can vote on the main image on the talk page. Right now every single article about the different variety of lightsaber uses the "weapon infobox". If this is a matter of contention then it needs to be resolved by a consensus, but at the moment the infobox appears to be correct. I think that covers everything.

Thanks for getting in touch! The Knight of the Flowers (talk) 14:53, November 30, 2012 (UTC)

Are you intending to change the infoboxes for lightwhip, lightclub etc to lightsaber? If so then that's fine, I'll see to it that it's changed before the inuse tag comes off, but otherwise I'm at a loss as to why you're insisting that this one article be changed when every single other one is the same. As you're no doubt aware I'm embarking on a major renovation of this article (and probably other similarly themed articles in time). Rest assured that when I'm finished everything will be properly sourced and referenced. The Knight of the Flowers (talk) 15:07, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
Okay in that case I'll see it done, along with the others in good time. I have no particular attachment the Ahsoka image, I just felt that an image that demonstrates the difference in size between shoto and lightsaber would be desirable for the sake of those who may be unfamiliar with the subject. The Knight of the Flowers (talk) 15:18, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, and that image is perfectly acceptable. I was drawn to the Ahsoka one because her pose demonstrates perfectly the essential purpose of the shoto (blocking with the left, attacking with the right). My only real gripe with the Yoda image is that in the hands of someone his size, the shoto just looks like an ordinary lightsaber. If an image could be found of a normal sized person wielding a single shoto that would be likewise fine (KotOR I and II springs to mind). In retrospect it may be desirable to get the vote over with now, so that I can focus on my expansion without worrying about the main image being changed later. The Knight of the Flowers (talk) 15:42, November 30, 2012 (UTC)
That's fair, I've amended that particular statement. I was planning to upload some KotOR screenshots for the history section at any rate. In terms of the main image should such a screenshot include the individual or just hands, hilt and blade? 15:50, November 30, 2012 (UTC)

Hey. Do you think you could undo the archiving of the nom? Sorry if it's a hassle, but there are still some pretty major issues brought up by the audio drama that need to be hashed out. Re: Escape from Abafar

Well, it turned out to be a battle at the mining facility in "Missing in Action," so yeah, I would say an article is warranted, at least for that portion of the event. CC7567 (talk) 16:34, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Bit of new info on R3-S6

Hey Jang. R3-S6 got an entry in Star Wars: The Clone Wars: What Is a Sith Warrior?; nothing new, but in the entry on Skytop Station, there's a bit of a canon conflict that looks like it should get mention in R3-S6's Bts section. I've outlined it to Trayus on his talk page (under "Inside Knowledge"), so you should be able to update the article based on that. Let me know if you have any questions. CC7567 (talk) 01:45, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

Source

I have seen it at several other sites, like blogs, etc. At least, it makes sense, so that's why I thought it is official. I will try to get a more "official" source. Until that, decide if you accept it or not. I believe it is official, though. Greetings, --XXLVenom998 (talk) 16:51, January 9, 2013 (UTC)

  • Thanks for pointing it out. Get it. Still, I think more trust should be provided to blogs, wikis etc. as they often (almost always) turn out to be correct, and you can still fix if something was incorrect or fake. BTW, I found something interesting, but I don't know if Wookieepedia would need it somewhere. Here. Greetings, --XXLVenom998 (talk) 18:19, January 9, 2013 (UTC)
