Center Channel

  • First, I only use native MPEG2 files either from DVD or digital cable. From them, I demux the AC3 audio stream and discard the video stream. A number of programs for this can be found here. Then I use Foobar2000 with the AC3 decoder component to convert the AC3 to a 5.1 WAV. Adobe Audition can then open the 5.1 WAV file and discard the unneeded channels. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 20:37, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

Protection

Thanks for the talk page and user page protection. That guy's been doing this since May. I'd said to myself awhile back that I was surprised he never did anything to my pages here, but I figured he wasn't that stupid. Seems he proved me wrong in the stupid arena. Just as a head's up, this guy has a history of also going after people who've protected my pages or reverted his edits, so (while I know you don't care and will probably get a kick out of it) he may hit yours too. Marvel request

A substitute request for the two-page Tarkin spread that apparently didn't work. On the third page or so of Star Wars 52: To Take The Tarkin, there's a horizontal panel where Luke and co. are already aboard the Tarkin and run into a stormtrooper patrol for the first time. The caption reads "Or in this case, what will find them!" And Luke says, "Oh, uh, Imperial stormtroopers! W-what a nice surprise!" Thanks. Toprawa and Ralltiir 02:59, October 11, 2009 (UTC)

why did you change the edits I made back to the way Mauser had it? the BTS section was needed in the article see Mauser's talk page here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:Mauser#Blocked_2 on number 35 He and I discussed it. I don't understand I joined wookiepedia in order to help make a website that I love even better. The Guide to making articles says that the BTS section is where pertaining retcons should be mentioned Battlefront I had an inconsistency it was retconned I removed it from the inconsistency section and added a bit about it in the BTS section. I'll be honest joining wookiepedia hasn't been the funnest thing I've done people like Mauser just ruin the experience he's been blocked at least twice now and judging from his history he is a very aggressive editor I want to help contribute to this wiki but unfortunately some wookiepedians are ruining this experienceFlamingfool719 16:31, October 23, 2009 (UTC)

Hello. I would like to know where exactly in Rebellion Era Campaign Guide is noted that Death Star's official name is "DS-1 Orbital Battle Station". Could you help me about page number? I tried to look for this by myself but I couldn't find it. So I'd be very grateful for answering me. Also, I would like to know from where exactly are informations about Geonosian Industries and these "initial technical design of the Death Star" thing, but I assume I should ask about that on article's talk page. Request for help

Hello Darth Culator, I just wish to ask for your aid in regards to some uploaded pictures I took from the Legacy Era Campaign Guide which I scanned and attempted to crop/fix for Wookieepedia. I have not placed them in any articles and left them in a gallery on my own personal page as I thought I would ask you if they are of acceptable quality or rubbish. Behind the Magic images

Hi, Darth Culator! I noticed that you had put up some images here from Star Wars: Behind the Magic, relying on the date files instead of screen shots. I recently got a copy of the Episode I Insider's Guide CDs, and I wanted to get some images from them. Do you know of any walkthroughs on how to extract them rather than simply screen capture them? Mission to Bespin

I noticed you deleted Mission to Bespin because it could just as easily be the established one. However, judging by the PSP version of Elite Squadron, it can't be, since X2 is mentioned by the title crawl to have trained at the Jedi academy on Yavin 4, which wasn't in existence around the time of the existing one. Granted, there was some unverified information in the article, but that's a separate issue. If there's not conflicting information in the DS version, could you restore the article? Image scans

Hey Culator. I was wondering if you would be so kind as to answer a question for me about image scans from the CSWE. A few days ago I scanned a couple of "real life" shots and the scans came out grainy and overall ugly. At first I thought it may be my scanner, but I don't really have problems with any other scans. Is there some issue with the CSWE that may cause this? Of course, there is always the possibility that I am somewhat of a dunce when it comes to scanning :p I would really appreciate any information. VCX-800.jpg Image Deletion

Dear Darth Culator,

I was just wondering why you flagged the ship from the Star Wars: Rebellion screenshot as fanon? I've asked on the SW:R discussion page, and though the ship features in a Star Wars game that is 12 years old, it cannot be identified by anyone - it is a new ship, and as such, needs a page of its own. I've come across a lot of people who want a name/specs for it. I was preparing an article in the Sandbox for if/when the admin gives me the green light to name the new ship the "VCX-800 escort freighter", for reasons outlined on the discussion page.

If I've committed some terrible faux-pas here then I apologize, but I really don't see the harm in planning an article which many people are asking for. --LtKettch 20:53, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

The deletion of the image on this article was not based on whether I "like it or not". After revising and expanding the entire article, as well as reviewing the article's discussion, I came to the conclusion that the image was fanon. Considering the previous attempts to create a fanon image for Scout, as well as the extremely poor quality of the image, I don't believe this is a farfetched conclusion. Saw Vader and Maul's podracers, as well as several shots of the single-appearance pilots, so I'm guessing you have access to Racer Revenge. Would also be able to grab shots of the podracers of Knire Dark, Kraid Nemmeso, Scorch Zanales, Tzidik Wrantojo, and Watto? The game also has an art gallery. Are you able to take this symbol for the Wolfpack and trace a vector graphic from it? I don't know if you have been asked this question before or if it has been asked, but do you know how to add a link from one article to another but the page name doesn't have an s at the end but the link from the page does? Here is an example: say that in a article, in a sentence I use force pikes, with an s to be correct in grammar but the page doesn't have an s. I can't link it because of that. Hey Culator, if you're not too busy I was hoping you could help me with getting some new and improved images for Canderous' article. Specifically I'd like to request a screencap of him shooting someone/thing with his heavy repeater or a blaster rifle. It can be from either KOTOR 1 or 2, whatever is easier for you! In addition I'm hoping to add a picture of the Mandalorian base on Dxun, preferably with Canderous in the shot, but due to his location that may not be possible. Any shot that shows a decent amount of Mandalorian activity would work.   • They are talk page redirects, which are completely useless. They often end up as double redirects if a page gets moved a second time, or end up as orphaned if a page is deleted by someone who doesn't check backwards through these things. Coruscant image upload

Hi, you recently deleted an updated image of Globecoruscant stating that "Artificially resizing an image is not an improvement." However, I put a whole lot more work into that including adjusting lighting, color balance (including highlights, midtones, and shadows), hue and saturation, sharpness, and exposure which I listed. After you deleted the upload, I found on closer examination that my version was somewhat more blurry. So I have gone back and made changes to that. The new image is sharper that the old one, and I have made further adjustments to bring out the planet more which is one of the reasons it was not acceptable when voted against on Coruscant's talk page. If you could please leave this version where it is, I'm asking JMAS to take a look at the two before asking the users who voted on the talk page to take a second look. Thanks. IMDB, from which I retrieved it, cites it as a still image from ANH, meaning that it has been isolated from the scene and placed on a plain background.   • One, IMDB is hardly a valid source for identifying images. It's barely tolerable for cast and crew information simply because there's no alternative. Unused images

Hey Culator,

I recently orphaned File:Fel sparring.jpg|this image and stuck the ifd tag on it, but I noticed that it got moved to the Unused images page instead. Image cache

Question for you, since you are the admin who deals with 90% (or better) of image deletions and such, I'd like your opinion. Since most image overwrites now don't seem to update, and the cache has to be manually purged, would you prefer people to mark the images with the {{WISS}} tag, or upload a new version of the image and mark the original with {{Tl|Ifd}} tag as obsolete? - JMAS 20px Hey, it's me! 17:45, November 9, 2010 (UTC)

  • Image overwrites do usually update. There doesn't seem to be any reason or rhyme when they don't.   • If you are referring to the file you uploaded as File:TFU2SoundtrackCover.jpg, it wasn't deleted, it was moved to File:TFU2Soundtrack.jpg. Another user uploaded a higher quality version of the file but the image servers had a hiccup and weren't updating the thumbnails. Moving the file forces the server to regenerate them. Got a question for ya. I have a book titled Sci Fi Art: A Graphic History, and in it, there is an image of the Kotobukiya ArtFX Zuckuss statue. Since I've been working my ass off on that Gand for quite some time, would that book be worth mentioning in the Bts? He's not referred to by name, or even indirectly. It is simply a product image used to illustrate a chapter on sci-fi goods. I've been wondering about this since I've gotten the book about a year or so ago.

Unused images

  • If it's not used in the main namespace then it's arguably not fair use, so it should be put into use somewhere for the purpose of illustrating a related topic, or the community page should be edited to include another image that is already in proper use. WP:SOCK has been around since 2006—almost as long as I've been an administrator and longer than you've been a user—and is linked right there under "multiple account policy" in the welcome message on your original account's talk page. Claiming that you weren't "aware that it's not allowed" just makes you look stupid, in case anyone didn't already get that impression from your impotent ranting. If you had attempted to dispute the original block as directed by the block message rather than immediately creating another user account in violation of policy, you could have been unblocked. Rattataki bounty hunter image

Hey there Culator. If you look at File:RattatakiBountyHunter-TOR.jpg in the Rattataki infobox, it's still displaying the old image smushed to the new proportions.   • I checked it from two computers with different DNS servers configured (this one uses Google DNS and my secondary PC uses my ISP's DNS) and it looked fine in regular and thumbnail. This just further confirms my theory that one or more points in the content distribution network are failing somehow. images[1-4].wikia.nocookie.net and images.wikia.com all resolve to the same address from any single DNS server at any given time, but images.wikia.com could resolve to 204.245.162.41 from one DNS server and 96.17.171.11 from another (These are a few examples of many. Akamai is huge.), or from the same DNS server but at a different time. I'd alert Wikia to this if I had any faith at all that anyone in their organization would even know what the hell I'm talking about. Dear Mr. Culator, there is an IP and an user who removed the {{Delete}} template from The Star Wars Underworld (SWU). It is about a Facebook page that fails notability requirements. The author had been warned to add sources to cite that it is eligible to remain, yet no action has been made yet, apart from the removal of the template. Thanks for pointing out that some of our images on Star Wars Roleplay Wiki were not authorised for use on other sites, I have deleted all the images I got from Wookieepedia except one, which I have asked permission from the User to use.
We did not realise that Wookieepedia's copyright policy exempted images from the CC-BY-SA policy, we thenk you for bringing this to our attention. I have asked anyone who uses an image to provide evidence of permission.
