Image Uploads for August 12, 2005
I appreciate your mass imaging for planets that needed something to fill their articles up. Ooh the moons of Iego...
Also, how close did you say you lived near that chemical dumpsite? :) -- Riffsyphon1024 20:07, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
- There are still more to come. I haven't even started on the planet pics from the Decipher CCG. Those were annoying to download, because they took down chunks of their website after they lost the license, so I had to get most of them from the Wayback Machine.
- And the toxic chemical thing is sort of a joke. They quit dumping Kepone in the river six years before I was born. The Department of Environmental Quality still monitors it, though, since the sediment might still be full of it. I just think it lends a sort of X-Men-like quality to my biography. 8-) -- Darth Culator 23:08, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Alternative physics argument
I don't subscribe to the idea of the Star Wars galaxy operating under alternative physics principles from our own, but it's a useful method of counter attempts at using logic to overcome canon, as in the case of Walabio's edits on the TIE/Advanced fighter article. --SparqMan 01:08, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Concerned about user
Since you seem to be handling the Derek J. Reda/Rise of the Dark Falls incident, I thought I'd mention that someone should keep an eye on 199.79.168.160. I started looking into him after he defended a nonsense edit the Dark Falls person made to Bib Fortuna, and he'd made a few Thr'ak Shall|fanon entries/edits himself recently. If (well, when) the two days are up and those pages get deleted, I'd say both IPs should be watched for related fanon or vandalism. CooperTFN 23:11, 29 Nov 2005 (UTC)

H-wing??
Isn't there an H-wing starfighter or is it just fanon? Because its super-awsome!!!!!!! -Bwingfreak
- The H-Wing isn't fanon, but it's not exactly canon either. -LtNOWIS 23:08, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

K'Kruhk's Hat
The discussion page for K'Kruhk is currently debating the hat. I don't appreciate your comments in the history though. My hasty deletion (which I apologized for) doesn't really require you to start throwing insults. Please contribute to the discussion, however.--DannyBoy7783 20:22, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Insults? Please. Nobody on this wiki has ever heard me be genuinely insulting. If they had, I wouldn't be here any more, because I can be pretty colorful. Saying something is "[Redacted by administration]" is more insulting than I've been. —Darth Culator (talk) 20:29, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Saying I'm "trying to suck all the fun out of this wiki" is fairly insulting. I'm just trying to keep this place free of irrelevant information.--DannyBoy7783 20:40, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- You've repeatedly called things "crap" and "sucky" and "stupid" in edit summaries, and you were both impolite and condescending on the Palpatine debates, yet you think I was insulting. And your comments on Jack Nebulax's talk page are exactly the opposite of the position you're taking now: "Expecting people to be nice when confrontations arise here is like asking someone not to get angry when some jerk on the highway cuts them off. People have anonymity here and confrontations arise quite often I am noticing. I'm all for people being friendly and diplomatic but expecting it is a bit naive. Telling Nebulax to cut it out isn't going to do anything but annoy him :)" The only difference is that now you feel that you've been slighted. That's pretty impressively hypocritical. I'd tell you to calm down and have a nice cup of hot chocolate, but you'd probably complain about the picture on that page being non-canon. After all, it does take up ten times as much space as the whole paragraph about K'kruhk's hat. —Darth Culator (talk) 21:00, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Heh, point taken. I guess my issue is the fact that you put your comments on the history page. I'm not going to make an edit just to comment on them there. It seems more visible to me and it's not really the right place for it. I do like hot chocolate though. The picture should actually be bigger I think, though, on a square inch basis the K'Kruhk hat paragraph takes up more space than the hot cholocate image. Though I must say that the Palpatine debates escalated. They didn't start like that (unlike your history comment which is smarmy from the get-go)--DannyBoy7783 21:08, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Smarmy, eh? Fair enough. :P I've been called worse for doing less, and rightly so. And I can be pretty fanatical about squashing fanon, so I certainly understand your position on people rambling away in the "Behind the scenes" sections. I'll try to keep the edge out of further edit comments. :) —Darth Culator (talk) 21:20, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

- Cool, my first award! Thanks! I just felt like I had to do it -- I just reread the X-wing series over the last month. I started working slowly on it just after I posted the scan from the New Essential Guide to Characters, and worked full-bore on it yesterday and this morning. While I was offline finishing it, 2,500 items built up in the Recent Changes. Now we just need to fill out the redlinks. —Darth Culator (talk) 21:58, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

WEG space speeds to MGBTXVWZ's or whatever
Just tried putting the new ship template on Vangaard Pathfinder...had trouble filling in some of the boxes using just WEG RPG stats, though. Is there an official conversion between their "space speeds" and some slightly more in-universe ratings? If there's no official one, is there a fan-made one that's close enough you think we could put it on this wiki? Thanks, — Silly Dan 02:59, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

Vong Bashing
Hey, Darth Culator, can we start bashing the Vong here? And what is your major opinion on New Jedi Order?
- I'm not a big fan of the Vong, though I try to refrain from "bashing" anything too much. But since you asked... I think pretty much everything about the Vong as an antagonist was just wrong. Their ships are made of rocks and meat, while the indigenous civilizations of the GFFA have weapons that should be able to easily vaporize them. But, oh no!, they have mini-black holes--which they shouldn't realistically be able to generate or control. Their main weapons are bugs and lava-but lava shouldn't pose a threat to deflector shields, since we've seen Y-wings First Battle of Sullust (Galactic Civil War)|fighting in an active volcano and Episode III featured people surfing on molten rock. And the idea of snakes that can block lightsabers is just ludicrous.
- BUT, and this is a big "but," even though the NJO is inferior to the Bantam era, it's still better than no Star Wars at all. I read the entire NJO series simply because I can't don't like to leave anything unfinished, and in general the stories were OK even if some of the details sucked.
- In general, I stay mostly clear of NJO-related articles unless I see a major factual error or NPOV violation. —Darth Culator (talk) 19:09, 15 February 2006 (UTC)
- Completely agree with you. Other than the Yuuzhan Vong, NJO was also horrible in the characterizations from *everyone*, agreed? And how the hell did Borsk Fey'lya get elected to Chief of State? He nearly destroyed the New Republic twice, and probably poisoned Mon Mothma.
- There was also an issue of the Marvel comics where a group of rebel ships were able to hide inside a star, which one would expect would be much hotter than lava. (Myself, I never started into NJO, and kind of lost any interest I may have had in it after finding out how many interesting planets they completely demolished. Seemed too grim to me.) — Silly Dan 23:01, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Chev liberation, Quelii Oversector, etc.
Since you seem to be the go-to guy for Zsinj-related topics, would you be able to add information on the liberation of the Chev from the Chevin? The Quelii Oversector article mentions that the New Republic freed the Chev, but the only one of those sources I've been able to consult, Cracken's Threat Dossier, doesn't mention them at all. Thanks, —Silly Dan (talk) 03:04, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- The only major sources on the Chev/Chevin that I have are Galaxy Guide 2 and The Essential Guide to Alien Species, and neither of them mention Chev liberation. I'm not even sure where the mapping data for Vinsoth came from. My only references to Quelii came from Cracken's Threat Dossier. (It may be in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds, but my access to that book is limited. I don't have a lot of D20 materials on hand.) —Darth Culator (talk) 03:28, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

X-wing Alliance
It would be fantastic if you could put more pictures for the various ship and station classes up.
One thing has been bothering me about the X-wing series games:- how do we resolve the size difference between the XQ platforms in XWA compared with the other games? Are they to be considered different designs, or do we simply accept XWA as the canon-defining source? —Dengar Antilles (talk)
- Would it be possible for you to post images of all 3 versions of the tug? (from the same angle) Also, what program do you use to create the screenshots? I have been trying "OptGL", but that doesn't open XwA .opts, and OPTech has no bilinear filtering of the textures, so they look all blocky.—Dengar Antilles (talk)
- The other Tug I mentioned is File:BoP_Utility_Tug.jpg|thumb|this one, from XvT:BoP. As you see, I've posted a picture, but it is blurry and in normal perspective as opposed to the isometric forced perspective of the other two. I think it would be better to keep the pictures consistent. Dengar Antilles 10:50, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- The graphics card I am using to take screenshots is an ATi Radeon X800 with 6X Temporal Anti-aliasing and 16X Anisotropic filtering. Due to the technical limitations of my monitor, I only run a resolution of 1280x1024, so none of my screenshots will exceed this size. I use OptGL to view the models, then crop and/or rotate and compress the image using an elderly version of Micrografx Picture Publisher. -- Dengar Antilles 09:59, 21 April 2006 (UTC) (talk)
Question
- I thought I'd ask you, as you seem to have experience in identifying this. Is there some sockpuppetry going on at the Eeth Koth talk page? All these new users seem to have popped up at once, and, surprise surprise, all agreeing with original poster. I'd rather not get out the banning stick until I know for sure. QuentinGeorge 11:33, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
- There's no way to tell for sure without seeing their IPs, all we can do is judge them based on the context and their contribution history. The one anon IP in the edit history is a web cache at the University of Sydney, so by that and from looking at the user pages, I figure this guy got some of his friends to back him up so he can "win" that silly debate with sheer numbers, because he couldn't do it otherwise. -- Darth Culator 13:33, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Template:Ship
After seeing a few articles where {{Ship}} was used to repeat the full information of the shiptype (see Avenger), it's time to make the changes you mentioned on the template talk page. It will just need to be made clear that for unmodified ships of a standard type, the full information isn't required. --SparqMan 00:37, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- Any thoughts on my proposed changes? See User_talk:SparqMan#Ship_infoboxes. --SparqMan 19:00, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

Harsh
"The Jedi Exile is canonically female, as per the New Essential Guide to Droids. Any attempts to change this will result in a week long ban." That seems a bit extreme, don't you think? --SparqMan 04:11, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't put it there, Jaymach did. I'm just enforcing it. The guy actually edited the warning message. I have no sympathy for that level of ignorance. It would be like someone saying "oh, everyone knows you're really allowed to park in the fire lane" and then painting over the "FIRE LANE NO PARKING" sign on the ground, and then being pissed off they got a ticket. I can't think of a better analogy right now, I'm too tired. But the bottom line is that it was really, really dumb. -- Darth Culator 04:16, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I guess. It just seemed out of line with this new move towards a more moderate banning policy. --SparqMan 15:23, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

So, I asked a pretty important question on Talk:Bilbringi, and discussion seems to have stalled. Jaymach said on IRC that you could find the truth. -LtNOWIS 02:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
VFD interest?
There's a vote going on to delete the "SSD continuity issues" article and, if anything, write what it spends a page to do, in a few sentences in the Executor bts section. Thought you might have a passing interest in it. ;P VT-16 10:05, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Spy + Zsinj
- Darth Culator, on the current I-Drive (Spy), I just finished a section about Zsinj's campaign and his/New Rep's use of spies during that time. Could you look at it and expand it please? Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 04:46, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

As per the consensus track decision, I've requested on Wikia that they restrict the moving of pages for new users here. Kuralyov 16:59, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

A consensus track is up in order to establish a policy for deleting old copyvio articles. As an administrator, your input would be appreciated. The consensus track can be found here. --Imp 22:12, 4 October 2006 (UTC)

Speedies
- Okay. Sorry about the shouting. I'm normally not that bad, but I've had some impatience with VIP responses and I guess it spilled over. BTW, Category:possible fanon is up for IDrive. Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 23:00, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe that page should have been also posted on BJAODN! Atarumaster88 20px (Audience Chamber) 23:03, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
- No offense taken. That article was definitely BJAODN worthy- and, quite typically of our aspiring fanonists was very poorly written. On a separate note, can you tell me what you think of Death Star? I nominated for FA and it has four votes and no objections. . . the epitomy of vexation. Amen
I read your entire user page, and I have one word to say: Amen, except for George Bush. Well, come to think of it, its more of a phrase. Xwing-EAW
Hey, is it true that minor X-wing ships and freighters appear in later missions of EaW? I havent finished the game yet but it's hard to believe. MoffRebus 08:11, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- They appear completely at random. The game names Imperial and Rebel starships randomly from lists of names, one list for each class. So what this tells us is that these ships probably existed before the Battle of Yavin, but we don't really know where they appeared. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 13:25, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Ugluk's ban
Hi. Just wanted to mention Ugluk's ban. He was blocked for a month for his personal attacks. Of course I'm not condoning what he did, but it seems a little unfair that after a couple of weeks of him being blocked, and after things had settled down, you came in and blocked him indefinitely and deleted all his userpages. Aside for that ugly arguement he started, he wasn't too bad a contributor. I was willing to give him a chance to redeem himself after a month, and since no other admin made the ban indefinite at the time, I'm thinking other admins felt the same way too. --Azizlight 12:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- No, he came back and his first action was to immediately say more ugly things. Did you actually read the talk page I deleted? You should. "First of all it was a block not a ban second of all just thank nebs for ruining something else. by the way, its good to stop in and see that none of you have gotten laid yet. with love, Ugluk." - Third strike=Perma-ban. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 13:00, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Oh. My mistake, sorry. I was looking at his contribs page, and those latest edits did not appear there, so I didn't actually see them. Very sorry, my bad :-( --Azizlight 13:10, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. (Actually, that's something I should put on the feature request thread. Seeing deleted edits without special effort should be an obvious feature idea anyway.) I just wouldn't have erased his stuff so thoroughly without a good reason. He seemed like a decent guy before he went crazy. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 13:43, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, i feel terrible for charging in, accusing you of being unfair like that. I really shouldn't post when I'm that tired :-) --Azizlight 23:56, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Aniki21
Aniki21 is requesting an unblock. Would you be amenable to an unblock if he stays off Talk:Juhani (or at least stops insisting that Juhani was 100% heterosexual), and his sockpuppets remain blocked? —Silly Dan (talk) 23:50, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm... no. Anyone who evades a block three times doesn't deserve to come back for any reason. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 00:16, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Moving pages
- No, I had no idea that was how you moved pages, and I didn't realise there was such a formal policy - I had thought that when rearranging redirects on pages with only a few edits, there wasn't any need to do more than swap the text, especially when it required a total rewrite. I assumed that Admins just changed the post history when they thought it was important.
- I know that StarNeptune had to disentangle the Tenel Ka Djo post history when I made a move a few months back, but if anyone filled me in on the correct protocol, it went straight out of my mind afterwards.
- So apologies, and thanks. --McEwok 16:48, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
Re: "Made in England"
If you're using a video program like VCL, open up two windows of the same film. One of them will be counted as "part of the background" and when you use PrintScreen, it can be copied&pasted onto MS Paint and made into a picture. :D VT-16 21:57, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

File:Xwing_negvv.jpg rotation
Why did the X-wing article necessitate this image to be rotated? By rotating it, the quality of he image sucks. - JMAS 13:34, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- The X-wing article has too many pictures on it. In order to keep them all the total height needed to be reduced and that was the easiest way. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 15:47, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- Can I revert the image back to is original and better quality and just try lowering the px level on the thumbnail? - JMAS 15:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- That causes the problem I mentioned here. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 16:02, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
- I went ahead and reverted the image back to it's former version, and relocated it on the page to avoid the formatting problem. - JMAS 17:37, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

A question.
Is calling someone a prick considered a personal attack? Grand Admiral J. Nebulax (Imperial Holovision) File:Implogo.png|20px 19:39, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm sorry for calling Jack a prick. There's no excuse for it. However, I want Jack to not put the blame on me if his attitude is questioned.--Herbsewell 19:49, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

- I don't think we have a policy against being stubborn. If we did, I'd have to ban myself. But the language needs to stay under control, whatever the situation. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(TINC) 19:54, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey Culator, Jaymach said you had the Star Wars films in HD quality. I could use a screenshot of the droid scanner seen in Ep. 4 at the cantina scene if you have time. It is for this new page. Thanks! —Xwing328(Talk) 03:27, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Way to go. I'm assuming those were all related to tonight's Gluupwhore crisis.

"There. No fanart."
- In all honestly, is adding a lightsaber effect - of a existing color - and adding it well to a behind-the-scenes picture really fanart? I know you'll say "Yes", I just want to voice my disagreement. If it was poorly done, or of an incorrect color, I could understand it…Cutch 06:11, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- The comment was not directed at you. In fact, I don't mind an occasional tweak to a canonical image, and if you'll recall the talk page for the article, I was one of the people offering suggestions for improving it. However, Kwenn took issue with it on Image_talk:Tan_Final.jpg, and he has a point. It's a gray area at best. -- Darth Culator (Talk)(Kills) 06:16, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
