ESB request

New ESB screen grab request: At about 1:05:54, a few seconds after this shot, there's a frame where Venka, Piett, and Brandei are all looking at the red screen in front of them, such that all of their faces are optimally visible.   • A quick one. At about 21:31, during the "As soon as each transport is loaded, evacuation control will give clearance for immediate launch" scene, after everyone is done speaking and the people are stepping out of the shot, there's a guy in an orange Rebel flight suit who walks right in front of the camera for the briefest of moments. You can hardly even see him unless you have it on slow motion. He makes it about half way across before the shot breaks to the next scene. Just at some point where you can best see his face. Thanks.   • Looks fine to me. But whenever you see such a thing happen, take the "edit this page" link from the image page (like [1]) and replace the action=edit with action=purge (like [2]) and it usually fixes it. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:47, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Nathan Butler has no more say over the canonicity of an item than I do, and calling him a VIP is a stretch. And since you yourself admit the discussion wasn't over, YOU were jumping the gun. Unlicensed doesn't automatically mean non-canon, it means ambiguously canon.     • Well, if you ask me, it's rare for us to receive information directly from Chee himself and we must use that opportunity. Mission to Blenjeel Debate

It's deduction. Who knows, the FoC version could be based off of the JKA version, but, the ship identified in Blenjeel shares much more in common with the Interceptor IV more than the Action. Case in point: 1. Panels on the side of the Interceptor also present on the ship not present on the Action 2. Extremely similar engine section.

  • You can't deduce something retroactively like that. The Interceptor didn't exist in canon at the time, and no official source has said that's what the Blenjeel ship is. You may be able to get away with putting a behind the scenes note about the visual similarity, but it can't be presented as fact unless and until some later source makes an official connection. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:04, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Marvel image request

Since I know how much you love showing off your image prowess in Marvel scans, here's a request for you:

  • This image also appears in CSWE under the Tarkin entry, without the text and without being partially cut off on the right side. I don't know if CSWE would provide a better version, but there it is.
  • At the very end of Star Wars 51: Resurrection of Evil, the original version of this. They're shouting, "Darth Vader must DIE!"
  • On the third and fourth pages of Star Wars 52: To Take The Tarkin, there is a large horizontal two-page spread of the Tarkin. I'd like to get that whole thing. I don't know how hard it would be with the page crease.
  • And finally, on the third or so last page of issue 52, right before the station blows up, there is a small panel showing the Tarkin preparing to fire its superlaser, with the first text box reading "Helplessly, the star warriors watch their screens..."

Unused?

Hey, I was just at Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (video game) and saw two missing images on that page:

  • File:SWSotE (Battle of Hoth).jpg
  • File:SWSotE (Asteroid Chase).jpg

For their deletion logs, you said "Weekly unused image deletion", but apparently they were being used by this article. Can you explain what happened? Can the images be restored or are they so long gone that somebody else would need to re-upload them? Would they get deleted again?   • That's peculiar. Any number of things could have happened there. They could have been unused at the moment they were deleted and then someone reverted their removal, there could have been a database hiccup that caused them to appear unused when they really weren't (which is rare but exceptionally annoying), or I could have just picked the wrong auto-complete option in my delete form. I delete so many things that I rarely remember specific images at all. Whatever it was, they could be restored if they're really needed, but I don't necessarily think they'd add a whole lot of value to our coverage of the game. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 00:04, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

For a while now I've been helping a few friends with a Wiki. In a few pages, there are some that have titles similiar to others. Template:CCG

Continuing our brief chat in IRC; here's a rough version of a new template that I did in under 10 minutes. In this variant you don't even have to enter the exact url, just fill the set and the cardname fields, and you get something looking like this:

The only issue I have so far is that you have to enter the card titles with more that one word using _ , otherwise things get screwed. But I'm sure someone who knows wiki coding better than I, can fix it.

Seeing that values of both fields can be salvaged from the existing version of the template, I see it as an easy fix. Question / help

Howdy. I'm reusing the "eras" template for Combine OverWiki, another Wikia wiki, if you've heard of it or not. So as I see that you heavily edited the "eras" template here and that its creator is gone from WP, I thought maybe you could help. So, check this page for an example. You can see on the right the template based on the WP template and there's an unwanted space between the page name and the frame with "This article is about the Black Mesa scientist. For the Valve employee, see Kelly Bailey." in it. This unwanted space is my issue. Could you have a look and tell me why? The "eras" equivalent template is here, and the "eraicon" equivalent is here. New Imperium

You deleted the link to the New Imperium (fan organization). Why then are the same types of organizations tolerated (namely, Emperor's Hammer, Dark Jedi Brotherhood, Vast Empire, Rebel Squadrons)? If you apply a standard to one it should apply to all. These clubs were all contemporaries of one another, and in fact the Vast Empire was a member club and part of the NI. Thanks, Josh.

Galfridian image

Knowing that you are the best to consult about technical image stuff I was wondering if you could help. I uploaded a new version of File:Finnlift.jpg having a higher resolution and, to my eye, better quality one. When I uploaded it and compared the thumbnail with the previous version (which I had already done whilst cropping) it actually looked worse than before. My first assumption would be to undo my edit but I have a feeling that won't work. In short, can you delete my new one and revert it to the original one? Hey, Culator. Could you also create a template to put on the top for the articles that go under the assumption I proposed, such as Showdown with Darth Bandon, which I'll be changing back to "Duel on Hrakert Station".   • Is your "friend" in any conceivable way as productive and generally useful to Wookieepedia as Grand Moff Tranner? Doubtful. This is a meritocracy. Do good things, and you get more leeway. Whine about things that aren't real issues, and you get ignored at best. Furthermore, that wasn't even a personal attack. Atlas Index

So, I see you have extracted the entire index from StarWars.com into one page. This would be great if not for the fact that the page is so big that working with it is a real problem.   • It was a pain to format it to begin with, and it's not really a list of planets but a list of systems. Plus it has a load of inconsistent links at the moment. It's really meant more as an organizational tool for creating or updating articles than a list that can be presented to the public. And splitting it up would defeat the purpose of making a sortable table in the first place. Hello, Darth Culator. First, I must apologize for the edit war which I undeliberately started, when I requested the unprotecion of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game without realizing why it was protected in the first place. I realize now that certain people insist of inserting the Player Committee stuff in it and only a full protection will help. I have now cleaned the article of all excessive PC stuff, expanded it with some info about the game itself from Wikipedia and, since it was you who protected it back in the 2007, I ask you to have a look at the article again and protect it to prevent further inconvenience. First off, I just wanna say thanks for creating the KotOR templates. Secondly, could you upload an image of Darth Bandon and his Dark Jedi on Manaan, when Revan opens the door attempting to exit the station?   • If you want really want to get the similar to Calo Nord shot, then just interrupt the conversation with Bandon by typing in the cheat command "warp n". Doesn't matter which letter you use, as long as the game doesn't recognize it as an actual module. The game will cut out of the dialog and your free to roam and adjust the free look camera. Deleted images

Hello, I'm just wondering why you deleted the pictures that I uploaded from Tales of the Jedi: Golden Age of the Sith and Tales of the Jedi: Fall of the Sith Empire as they were all canon and just recently uploaded from scanned versions of the comics.--Obi-wan Jacobi 02:57, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

  • Multiple reasons: They weren't being used in articles. And if you put them in articles, chances are someone will remove them since they're not particularly good scans. Galleries on userpages are also generally not allowed, and you get to upload a maximum of three images that are used only on your userpage. -- Darth Culator (Talk) 03:00, September 30, 2009 (UTC)

I am unsure of whether or not your deletion of my Amelico page was fair, considering that the "I object, there is no proof." notice informed me that I had something in the range of three days to fix it and I just posted it today.

As you can see in my message posted on Enochf's page, I am more than willing to provide sources for my page but was simply unsure of how to do so.

- Also, if my Amelico page is 'doomed', so to speak, is there any way of retrieving what I wrote on it for my own purposes?
