"I checked some data as we were landing, and it seems the closest moon, a small, uninhabited one called Praknat 3, took a direct hit from the main hull of the ship, and the impact misaligned the gravitational balance of the whole system. Trymant IV tilted closer to the second sun than it's ever been, and that in turn vaporized all the aboveground sources of water."
―Kantam Sy, to Zeen Mrala and Lula Talisola[4]

The second sun of the Outer Rim's Trymant system was one component of the binary star that the system's planet, Trymant IV, and its moons orbited. When an Emergence of the Great Hyperspace Disaster occurred in the system in 232 BBY, Praknat 3, Trymant IV's closest moon, was struck by a piece of the freighter Legacy Run's main hull, changing the gravitational balance of the entire system and tilting Trymant IV closer to the second sun. As a result, all of its aboveground water sources were vaporized, turning it into a desert.

Description

The Trymant system,[4] located in the Subterrel sector[3] of the Western Reaches[2] and Outer Rim Territories[1] in square L-20 of the Standard Galactic Grid,[3] was centered around a binary star. As one of the star's two components, the second sun was orbited by the planet Trymant IV and its moons, including Praknat 3,[4] Ost Molkar, Taz Molkar, and Trymant III.[5]

During an Emergence of the Great Hyperspace Disaster in the Trymant system[4] in 232 BBY,[6] a fragment of the freighter Legacy Run's main hull directly impacted Praknat 3, misaligning the gravitational balance of the entire star system[4] and destroying its moons.[5] Trymant IV was tilted closer to the second sun as a consequence of the collision to Praknat 3, causing an environmental catastrophe as all of the planet's aboveground water sources were vaporized, transforming its landscape to a desert. Records of the Trymant IV disaster were stored by the Jedi Order following the event.[4]

In 231 BBY,[7] former Trymant IV resident Zeen Mrala was shocked by the devastation when she returned to the world months after the disaster with Jedi Master Kantam Sy and Jedi Padawan Lula Talisola. Sy learned about the impact on Praknat 3 due to its movement toward the Trymant system's second sun and its effects after checking data onboard their cruiser, the Star Hopper. Afterward, they informed Mrala and Talisola of what had occurred.[4]

Behind the scenes

The sun was mentioned in the 2021 junior novel The High Republic: Race to Crashpoint Tower, written by Daniel José Older as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[4] Phase I.[8] The 2023 reference book Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi by Cole Horton includes an in-universe map depicting Trymant IV—and therefore the sun—within the original borders of the Occlusion Zone, which also situated it in the Galactic Frontier.[9] However, the 2025 reference book Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide, written by Pablo Hidalgo with map contributions by Jason Fry and Christopher Ibbitt, situates the Trymant IV outside of the Occlusion Zone. This article assumes that the latter and more recent source is correct.[10]
