"Strap yourself in, kid - next stop, Tansarii Point Station. Punch it, Chewie!"
Han Solo, to a spacer — 20?cb=20250116042720 ▶️ (file info)[15]

Tansarii Point Station was a space station built by Nova Orion Industries and located above Ord Mantell, in the Bright Jewel system. The station was owned and operated by the Car'das.

Description

"I came to Tansarii station to get a much needed break from my hometown on Lok. There is a lot of fun to be had here if you talk to the right people."
―A commoner visiting Tansarii Point Station[4]

Tansarii Point Station was a space station built by Nova Orion Industries on the same design as the Nova Orion Station, both being located near Ord Mantell, in the Bright Jewel system.[1] The station was opened to travelers and offered numerous services such as starship repairs, catering and entertainment.[2] The station was a also appreciated by smugglers.[16]

The interior of Tansarii Point Station included three levels accessible to public.[4]

The main level was organized around a circular corridor that surrounded the largest room of the station: the cantina. The circular corridor provided access to multiple other rooms: the Station Master's office, the ranged combat and close combat training rooms, the medical center, the cloning facility and the hangar bays. The Hangar Bay 01 was used by Tansarii Point's pilots and housed a starfighter complement as well as a public intra-system shuttle service. The Hangar Bay 02 was opened to visiting starships. The lower level had a similar layout than the main level. The circular corridor encircled the droid repair center and opened to other rooms: the storage rooms, the cargo bays and the data storage overflow room. The upper level was a large greenhouse known as the atrium. This area comprised flora and fauna coming from various worlds in the galaxy, including bauhin flowers from Corellia, scrubworts from the Forest Moon of Endor, flits from Lok, scyks from Tatooine and tanc mites from Yavin 4.[4]

History

"Hah! Kid, this place needs all the help it can get. Lately, it's been overrun with thugs and scoundrels, and the station master is powerless to stop them."
―Han Solo, to a spacer[17]

During the Galactic Civil War, Tansarii Point Station was home for the Car'das, a syndicate ruled by Talon Karrde.[2] In fact, the Car'das orriginally controlled two space station in the Bright Jewel system: Tansarii Point Station and Station Gamma, a prominent research facility. However, a mysterious entity wiped out those living there several years before the Battle of Yavin.[18]

Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, a Twi'lek woman named Inaldra assumed command of Tansarii Point Station.[14] However, shortly after Inaldra took over her new postion, the station was riddled with many problems that seriously threatened the station. On the lower level, malfunctioning droids roamed the droid repair center and attacked any person who entered the area[19] while a band of criminals working for the Hutt had invaded Cargo Bay 2.[20] On the upper level, the increasing population of wild animals in the atrium had made them turn violent and dangerous for the visitors.[21] Moreover, the situation also became challenging in the star system due to Black Sun pirates that intensively raided civilian traffic and Car'das starships.[22] In addition, a war erupted between the Car'das and the Rak'qua, a tribe of bellicose Nautolan living in Station Gamma.[23]

In 1 ABY,[24] Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO and a spacer arrived on the station aboard the Millennium Falcon after escaping from an Imperial space station.[15] The spacer brought to Tansarii Point Station by Han Solo got involved in the problems facing the station's residents. Hence, as the crisis on Tansarii Point Station reached its climax, numerous independent spacers were recruited by Inaldra's Lieutenant to provide assistance to the station's staff, in particular to the security director and the combat instructors Rydel Delan and Loche Crestingsky.[10]

The security director ordered a group of spacers to get rid of the Hutt criminals;[25] Station Master Inaldra later tasked a spacer with killing the Hutt boss.[20] Meanwhile, the spacers working for the marksman Loche Crestingsky discovered that the malfunctioning droids on the lower level were hacked by the Black Sun. They eventually prevented the Black Sun to slice into the Tansarii Point's main databanks.[26] In the meantime, spacers working for the brawling master Rydel Delan significantly reduced the population of hostile beasts present in the atrium.[21] They also defeated the Genesis Red gangsters and foiled their attempt to sabotage the station.[27] Outside Tansarii Point Station, in Station Gamma, the conflict between the Car'das and the Rak'qua caused high casualties. Nevertheless, Officer Antom Moria discovered the involvement of a local arms dealer in the outbreak of the conflict and was finally able through negotiation to convince both parties that the war was meaningless.[28]

In the meanwhile, the skirmishes in Ord Mantell space culminated in Black Sun forces openly attacking the space station and a violent space battle breaking out between the Car'das and Black Sun starfighters. The Car'das flight instructors Serissu, Laetin A'shera, Aleas Rans'ery and Dartas Pytin therefore recruited and trained a number of independent spacers and pilots who bolstered Car'das forces and made the difference in dogfights.[29][30] Finally, Car'das pilots emerged victorious, removing the Black Sun threat from the Bright Jewel system.[9]

After most of the problems of the station were solved, the Millennium Falcon eventually left Tansarii Point Station. In fact, Han Solo decided to run away promptly when he discovered that the bounty hunter Boba Fett had been sighted in the station.[31] Yet, Fett ignored that Solo was present on Tansarii Point Station as he was there to track the Devaronian fugitive Fidaval.[32]

Around the same time, a valuable shipment was stolen from an Imperial ship in transit to Coruscant. The thieves were traced back to Tansarii Point Station and an Imperial detachment comprising an Imperial officer and a group of stormtroopers,[33] including TK-363,[34] was tasked to retrieve the cargo.[33] However, as the Car'das were involved in the thief, Officer Dreryn and the Tansarii Point Station authorities quickly smuggled the shipment out of the station.[35] The cargo, that contained a high-value Old Republic artifact, was later shipped to the planet Tatooine where it was divided in several parts. Imperial and Rebel Alliance operatives then struggled to recover all the pieces of the artifact, namely a R2-series astromech droid.[36]

The same year, Imperial officer Falrey and Rebel Agent Garek were stationed onboard Tansarii Point Station to supervise operatives conducting sensitive operations in Station Gamma.[37][38]

Mira T'rani, to a spacer[39]

Following the Battle of Yavin, the station was administered by Station Master Inaldra.[14] Other staff members included Inaldra's Lieutenant, the combat instructors Rydel Delan and Loche Crestingsky, the hunter Raylen Finn, the pilots Serissu, Dartas Pytin, Laetin A'shera and Aleas Rans'ery, the mechanic Jolka,[10] Officer Dreryn,[4] and Rund Jesela who headed the cloning facility.[12] The medic Aja Sen,[10] the medical droid Billingsly[11] and the nurse Alisia practiced in the medical bay.[4] Tiarsis was the owner of the cantina[13] where worked the manager Anvar Keyis and the entertainer Mira T'rani.[40] During that time, a musical band performed in the cantina; it was comprised of the musicians Alisia, Alitra and Mako and the dancers Mestral and O'choa Detera.[4]

Most of the residents had a job on the station, even if they were not working direcly for the station's autorities. During this period, this comprised the commando Snopel,[41] the officers Antom Moria and Neina[28] and the spy Lercer Gaia.[23] Also, various merchants worked in the station such as the resource vendor Jesi,[42] the junk dealers Anniya and Eocade,[4] the trader Raine Taske[42] and the con artist Delo.[4] In addition, several smugglers were active on the station such as Jake Felan[43] and Tarand Crowe.[44]

Other inhabitants and visitors included Ysanna,[45] the explorer Frelka and his protocol droid E-5KL,[46] Deavyn Gils,[47] the Jedi Nos'lyn,[48] Trace,[31] Terry,[41] the amateur hunter Wyle Artis,[49] Arslynd,[32] Adery Shrial,[12] the Devaronian brothers Ratheb and Fidaval,[32] Idau, Bun'Del, Irving, Mot Draken, Pacus,[4] and the collector Yawse Felsiy.[50]

Behind the scenes

Tansarii Point Station was a location in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[4] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[51] Tansarii Point Station was first introduced with the "New Game Enhancements,"[2] released on November 15, 2005.[52] It was the location of an introductory player tutorial, accessible only to newly created player characters who selected to go through the "New Player Tutorial."[4]

Unused game files indicated that Talon Karrde was intended to be present on the station and involved in a cut quest.[53]

  24. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
