This article is about the Scyk, a reptile native to Tatooine. You may be looking for the M3-A Scyk, a MandalMotors starfighter.

Scyks were vicious predatory reptiles that were native to Tatooine. They were known for their bloodthirsty temperament.

Biology and appearance

The scyk was a species of lizard[2] that inhabited remote regions of the planet Tatooine. Scyks would attack creatures or people on sight and brutally tear through their prey. Thankfully, they usually lived far from most settled areas.[3]

History

Scyk fangs were prized trophy among hunters.[3]

By the time of the Great Galactic War, the Sith Lord and beastmaster Adrazar tried to domesticate scyks to serve him as deadly war beasts. However, despite his attempts to manipulate them through the Force, the Sith was unable to force them to cooperate in packs for more than a few days. The only one scyk that survived was then used by Adrazar to guard his domicile on Dromund Kaas.[3]

A number of scyks lived on the swamp planet Taris during the Cold War, and were known as tremor maws by settlers.[4]

During the Galactic Civil War, the starship manufacturing company MandalMotors named their M3-A Scyk-class starfighter after this creature.[2]

After the Battle of Yavin, a population of scyks populated the atrium of Tansarii Point Station.[5]

Behind the scenes

Scyks first appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] In the game, the scyks had the same appearance than the dune lizards, the rills and the dragonets.[1]
