- "I...overheard a group of people calling themselves the Genesis Red talk about sabotaging the lower levels of the station!"
- ―A bully, to a spacer
The Genesis Red was a criminal organization led by a crime lord by the name of Genesis Red during the Galactic Civil War.[1] Following the Battle of Yavin, Genesis Red were among the many criminal gangs that had infested Tansarii Point Station, a space station located above Ord Mantell, in the Bright Jewel system. Roaming the lower levels of the station, the Genesis Red were one of the major problems for the authorities of Tansarii Point Station.[2] In 1 ABY,[3] the criminals were planning to sabotage Tansarii Point Station. They managed to break through the outer hull of the station, creating a very dangerous situation for its inhabitants.[1] Fortunately, spacers working for Rydel Delan, Tansarii Point's brawling master, discovered the plot. The spacers therefore headed to the lower level of Tansarii Point Station where they fought the saboteurs and prevented them to achieve their insane project.[2] The Genesis Red were finally repelled when their leader and a large portion of their number were killed by a group of freelancer hired by the authorities.[1]
Behind the scenes
The Genesis Red appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[4] The Genesis Red were added to the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial," introduced with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[5]

- ↑ 3.0 3.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
