"I have a few friends on the station that are collecting information regarding all the recent Imperial activity. One is in Hangar Bay 1 and the other is in the Cloning Facility. Go see what they uncovered and report back to me."
Garek, to a spacer[1]

Rund Jesela was a male Bothan who lived during the Galactic Civil War. Following the Battle of Yavin, he reside onboard Tansarii Point Station, a space station located above Ord Mantell, in the Bright Jewel system. During that time, he was the director of the station's cloning facility. Furthermore, he was a Rebel Alliance operative, collecting information regarding Imperial activity for Agent Garek.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] Garek encountered a spacer who was seeking to help the Rebellion. To evaluate this new recruit, the Rebel agent tasked the spacer to retrieve datadisks with sensitive information from Rund Jesela and Adery Shrial, another Rebel spy. Although the datadisks only contained Grandma Drake's soup recipes, the spacer achieved the objective successfully and was later assigned to a real mission.[1]

Behind the scenes

Rund Jesela appeared as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Rund Jesela was added to the game as part of the "New Player Tutorial,"[1] introduced with the release of the "Publish 25," a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.[4]

  2. The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
