- "Ten sectors were sealed away behind a barrier that prevents hyperspace jumps into the Exclusion Zone. Communications in and out of this region have failed, and the Nihil have begun to expand their presence in the Outer Rim. Wherever they rule, horrific brutality follows."
- ―Harli Cogra about the Occlusion Zone sectors, in Chronicles of the Jedi
The Svivreni sector was a sector in the Outer Rim Territories that bordered the Tamarin, Sujimis, and Rseik sectors. It contained the Andelm, Bront, Carz, Egaria system, Kiilimaar, Quintil, Sulloria, Svivren, and Telanka systems.
During the High Republic Era, the sector fell within the Galactic Republic's Galactic Frontier exploration region. Following its formation in 230 BBY, the Nihil's Stormwall hyperspace barrier cut off ten sectors from the rest of Republic space. The majority of the Svivreni sector fell within the affected Occlusion Zone, with stormseed satellites deployed in the sector to maintain the boundary. In 228 BBY, the Stormwall's fall dissolved the Occlusion Zone.
Description
The Svivreni sector was a space sector located in the Outer Rim Territories. The sector bordered the Tamarin, Sujimis, Rseik,[1] and Khuiumin sectors.[6] It contained the Andelm, Bront, Carz, Egaria system, Kiilimaar, Quintil, Sulloria, Svivren, and Telanka systems, which were situated in grid squares N-19, O-19, and O-20 of the Standard Galactic Grid.[4] The Quintil system contained the frigid planet Quintil and its sun. Quintil featured rocky and forested terrain,[5] as well as a breathable, Type I atmosphere.[7]
History
A stormseed satellite in the Svivreni sector
During the High Republic Era, the Galactic Republic designated a section of the Outer Rim—which included the Svivreni sector—as the Galactic Frontier, which was considered removed far enough from the galaxy's central regions to send explorers there.[2] In 230 BBY, the Nihil marauder organization formed the Occlusion Zone—an area of space in the Outer Rim's Frontier situated behind the Stormwall barrier that was preventing hyperspace travel.[8]
As one of the ten sectors forming the border of the Occlusion Zone, most of the Svivreni sector was cut off from the rest of Republic space,[1] and the worlds within it were forced to pay tributes to the Nihil.[9] To maintain the Stormwall boundary[10] separating the Svivreni sector in two parts,[1] the Nihil deployed a network of stormseed satellites in the sector.[10] Weeks afterward, in 229 BBY,[11] the Vurk Jedi Master Harli Cogra wrote a book titled Chronicles of the Jedi, which detailed the Jedi of the High Republic Era. In the book's afterword, Cogra lamented the formation of the Nihil's region and the ten sectors it affected.[2]
In 228 BBY,[12] the Nihil surrendered to the Republic following the Stormwall barrier's fall, which dissolved Occlusion Zone as a territory. The worlds of the Occlusion Zone,[13] which included those in the Svivreni sector,[1] were welcomed back into the Republic if they wished. However, some opted to retain their independence, while others remained under the control of individual Nihil warlords.[13]
Locations
The sector's[4] Egaria system was the origin point of Egarian silk,[14] a type of durable silk used for the magclamp cabling of Longbeam-class corvettes[15] by 232 BBY.[16]
In 18 ABY,[17] one of the Spice Runners of Kijimi's leaders—Tomasso—was left stranded on Quintil after he killed the high commander of the rival Zualjinn Syndicate. The cell's remaining members attempted to rescue him, and though they briefly fought with and were captured by the Zualjinn remaining on Quintil, the Spice Runners eventually managed to flee safely with the help of Tomasso's Kyuzo associates.[5]
Andelm IV was also one of many planets depicted in galactic maps thought to be drawn by the Ithorian artist Gammit Chond. The maps were later restored and collected in the Graf Archive on the moon Orchis 2 at some point no earlier than 34 ABY.[18]
Behind the scenes
In the current canon, the Svivreni sector was first identified in the first issue of the 2023 Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures comic series.
In the current Star Wars canon, prior to being retconned into other media,[4] the ten sectors forming the Occlusion Zone were first mentioned, albeit unidentified, in a flashback in the second issue of the Star Wars: The High Republic: Eye of the Storm comic-book miniseries. The issue was written by Charles Soule and released by Marvel Comics[19] on March 2, 2022[20] as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I.[21] The Svivreni sector was later identified by name and specified to be one of the Occlusion Zone sectors via a map in the first issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao and Nick Brokenshire, and published by Dark Horse Comics[1] as part of Phase III on December 6, 2023.[22] The space in the sector was first fully pictured in Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures's third issue, which was written by Older, illustrated by Tolibao and Brokenshire, and released by Dark Horse Comics as part of Phase III[10] on February 14, 2024.[23]
The Andelm system, and therefore Andelm IV, was placed in the Svivreni sector by "Star Systems of the Galaxy," an appendix[4] written by Jason Fry[24] that was published with the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com[4] on June 24, 2025.[24] Andelm IV first appeared in the first issue of the 2015 comic-book miniseries Star Wars: Chewbacca. The issue was written by Gerry Duggan, illustrated by Phil Noto, and released by Marvel Comics[25] on October 14, 2015,[26] retroactively marking the sector's first appearance.[4]
The Svivreni sector originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry. Furthermore, the Online Companion placed the Carz system in the sector.[27] The system had first appeared in "Tales of the Smoking Blaster," a roleplaying adventure written by Bill Smith and published in the 1993 Star Wars Gamemaster Handbook for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, thus retroactively making it the Svivreni sector's first full appearance.[28]

- ↑ Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi establishes that the in-universe book Chronicles of the Jedi was written weeks after the destruction of Starlight Beacon, which Star Wars: The High Republic Character Encyclopedia dates to 230 BBY. The issuing of the Guardian Protocols, dated by The High Republic Character Encyclopedia to 229 BBY, are depicted in The High Republic – Shadows of Starlight 1 as taking place one week after Starlight Beacon's destruction. With this, Chronicles of the Jedi must have been authored no earlier than 229 BBY. Chronicles of the Jedi further establishes that Pra-Tre Veter is still a Grand Master of the Jedi Order, meaning it was written before his death, which The High Republic Character Encyclopedia states took place in 229 BBY. Therefore, Chronicles of the Jedi must have been written in 229 BBY.

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas and a number of maps in the current Star Wars canon (see a list here), stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for Egarian silk in relation to Egaria system.

- ↑ Poe Dameron: Free Fall states that the incident on Quintil took place after Poe Dameron joined the Spice Runners of Kijimi, and before Tomasso taught Dameron lightspeed skipping. Star Wars: Timelines dates both events to 18 ABY. Therefore, the incident must have occurred that year.
